View Full Version : Indian vs Paki (Armies)

I just read an article in which Musharaff said "India can't threaten us anymore. We are no longer a weak Nation. blah blah" and also made references to his missiles etc.
I was just wondering...More because of Curiosity than anything...
Who has the stronger Army? I haven't been keeping up with updates on the Pak Army, but from the looks of it, it seems that Pak has developed a lot of Missles, and really worked on bettering their Army.
So @ this point...if a war was to breakout between these 2 nations (that would be horrible obviously) who would most probably come out as the victor? Just by looking @ their armies...don't include the terrorist organizations funded by the Pak Govt. (Some hubbers might think that the Pak govt doesn't fund any...whatever..we're not looking @ terrorist Orgs.)

Surya, I think Musharraf was addressing the local constituency rather than India. That often occurs when the Pakistani establishment feels insecure of it's grip on power. After all, Pakistan exists on the premise that India is their enemy.
As for the strength of the armies, I think we have superior ground forces. But unfortunately, we don't have a good inventory of missiles. Prithvi is our staple weapon and Agni's induction is still a question mark (IMO, Agni is the single biggest embarrassment in our defence research). We don't even have decent medium-long range missiles. We are developing an ICBM (incidentally named 'Surya') that might provide the strategic advantage. Though the governemnt denies the existence of the development program, I feel it does .

Oh Ok. Thanks Kannan! :D
That's kind of depressing to see that India is so weak when it comes to Missiles. :| Aren't missles more effective than ground forces when it comes to warfare, considering who initiates it?
Up until a few years ago, I remember people saying things like "India is the US of Asia when it comes to Defence Forces" etc....:(

Since you have named me in your above statement,I don't see how I can stay silent! :D
As far as the defence forces are concerned, I wonder what 'indigenous' means in the Paki dictionaries.Probably we should export some English teachers to Islamabad too.It is not a secret that a failed nation called Pakistan traded nuclear know how with a communist junta for ballistic missile technology.I am sure Ghauri,Hatf and Shaheen will have Chinese and Korean names.
Again, any thinking person will understand that today wars are being fought in the economic front.Beggars make nuclear war heads only to surrender it to anyone who will provide them with bread. When it comes to that, even if Pakistan produces more nuclear war heads or other weapons of mass destruction,it is no match for India.
The lesson: Just make money and laugh at them, when their women beg on the streets, their kids go hungry, when their men start believing that the only thing to hope for is dignity.

But didn't India have the best army before? :confused2: Or did China always have the best Army in Asia? (This is all after the fall of the Soviet Union.) :P
BLAHBLAH!!! :D :D
Long Time! What's up?!? :D

With China it's a different story. They have always had the upper hand against India and are the best in Asia. They may even rival the military might of Britain and France. Remember how we haven't still recovered the part of Kashmir annexed by them during the Indo-China war? Infact, they withdrew from Arunachal Pradesh after winning the war.

Agreed. I hate to say this, but poverty or no poverty, we can never be at peace with Pakistan. No wait, they can never be at peace with India.

OH that's right....socialist/communist nations tend to work on their military a lot.
Wow...So even economical stability in that nation won't make them rethink about their hatred towards India...

Unfortunately, not many people all over the world care for democracy, secularism, pluralism, equality etc.Surely one reason for this is poverty.
But if you discuss this stuff, between Pakistan and India, one nation chose to be a democratic, secular, socialist republic [in poverty and nothingness]and the other chose to be led by selfish, compromising military dictators.
Coming years will answer a lot of unanswered questions about these two nations.
I watch 'Emerging India' programmes on every western TV channel and read similar articles in Time Magazine and Newsweek. Why is it that every terrorist comes from Pakistan, gets his training and finance from the same nation, commits his crime elsewhere, yet goes back to Pakistan?
[Then, what you are, is because of your choice, not by your intellectual/physical/financial/military capability ! :)
I am proud to be a citizen of this nation.I wonder howmany Pakis can say that and still be honest to themselves!

IMHO, pak is no match for India. The missiles are based on North korean technology while we have managed to develop our own missiles indigenously.
IMHO India will lose if pitted against USA, Russia, China
50-50 chance against Britain, Germany, France
against the rest of the world it will surely triumph.

Depends on what 'triumph' means!
We should not be war mongers like the Pakis. They do it because there is no other way they can prove themselves. They need I ndia and the Kashmir problem for their own very identity and existence.
Wise nations know that there is no winner in war .That is something to be considered as a last resort.Today nations earn credibility by making more money, not missiles.Compare South Korea and North Korea.

Clearly Indian aspirations are far beyond Pakistan.
We are strategising to be a Stronger regional player in the short run and a Global power in the long run. Indian army has already started going beyond its own boundaries under its own flag (those under UN flag not considered) by taking part in securing Malacca straits.

An old friend still remembers to say Hi! :D
This is still a very good world to live in! Roshan, check your mail.
As Sandeep says the aspirations of Indians and Pakistanis are quite different.I hope that they realise oneday that military power desn't count unless supported by moral and economic power.
