I saw Autos in Egypt (our very own Bajaj Autos) outside Cairo heading south towards Luxor.
And recently on BBC they showed a news where Autos have landed in the UK, because I didn't hear the full story, I didn't get which city in particular...

I cant in all honesty say that I love autos
In fact IMHO they should be taken off the roads
They are not environment friendly and their drivers most often than not are hazardous to your health :P.
They are not very safe either..and because of their shape ,they can tip over more easily.

So anou, u've been to Egypt as well.....:)
I'd been ther w/ my father back in 1997.....I saw even a Bajaj Chetak ther (altho fitted w/ a windscreen, like on motorbikes) back then! :)
And yea even I found this link abt Autos going to the UK:
http://www.despardes.com/lifestyle/nov04/autorickshaws-1115.htm
I believe its landed in the London Science Museum for its energy efficiency!
It all seems so strange now w/ developed countries finding sumthing +ve in Indian-made technology.....! :)

[tscii:16a7de8939]LONDON: The humble Indian auto-rickshaw has become the "ride of one's life" and the "vehicle of choice" 10 days after it started plying in resurgent Brighton, Britain's most elegant and popular seaside resort in the 19th century.
And its Swedish-Tamil importer is adamant the auto has a glittering future across Europe.
It runs on CNG, has trademark open sides and the facility to dribble through traffic-clogged roads across the continent. So, the auto is on a roll, businessman Dominic Ponniah assured TOI.
Passenger figures appear to attest to this. Each of Ponniah's 12 autos in Brighton do at least a thousand miles a week. By year-end, Ponniah will import 100 more autos from India for a planned roll out in London and other major British and European cities.
By this time next year, say admiring observers, the auto may have become India's biggest palliative contribution to European city-planners' biggest headache — supplying cheap, fast, eco-friendly transport.
Before then, however, Ponniah will have Euro-fitted his autos with blankets and hot-water bottles, an innovation he hopes will take the Indian vehicles into the realm of Euro-friendly vehicles.
The auto's success may be measured by the lyrical words of Brighton residents like Maria. She said her first auto ride was "joyous and so much cheaper than a taxi I plan to do it again and again".
And she added, in what is expected to be the British Indian auto's ad tagline, "It's green too, even though it's in every colour. What more can I want?"
-----------
Lamby: yep, have been to Egypt and I love the place to bits!!! :) It actually feels like home there and everyone treats you like a Royal because you are from India :) Every single person that we saw on the streets asked "India? Amitabh Bachchan?"
I am not surprised that you saw a Bajaj Chetak there, I even saw Maruti 800s (not Suzuki) there :)[/tscii:16a7de8939]

In Chennai they have started "Call Auto" facility! :) ... If you are new to Chennai. When you get the auto service..slash the rate in to half of what the driver says.Say, if he ask for 100 make it to 50 ..Finally deal will be around 65 to 70!
Share auto is also famous here.In which normaly 10 people can sit but they will load around 15 people. They will keep Bus tyre, small wooden stool and other seatable things as seat :) .Charge per head comes around 5 to 10 Rs.You can find lot of share autos between Tnagar -- > Anna Nagar (Via Vani Mahal,Valluvar Kottam.. to Anna Nagar).
