anyone watching Manaivi ?

i watched the episodes this week laughed out loud when the "mahalxumi" of Delhi ganesh's house got numerous slaps from from krishnaveni (or is she Amsaveni ?).

the lady who plays that role Pallavi menon, she is such fine actress, she is so funny on Chinna Paapa Periya paapa, it's incredible how in this series she plays such a detestable character, I blame her father for her character , it's his fault for the person that she is.

I can't wait for the day when Delhi Ganesh finds out that his money has been eaten up by his Mahaluxmi's father, would he hold her above his head.

I've been following Manaivi on and off, I missed a few episodes inbetween, what happened between the MLA's son and Josiyar's daughter, I saw the episode when she sneaks away from home and her mother and father try to stop her and then she finally leaves.... next episode i saw the MLA son is being beaten up somewhere and the Joshiyar's daugter is staying with some inspector guy witha little girl or something.

whats been happening in Manaivi

Mahalaxumi (whats her real character name ?") 's father comes to visit her, they are talking about current finaicial matters and the father tells her th the business is not going so well and he will not be able to make any sort of payment back to her father in law, Mahalxmi tells her father to take him time as that there is no rush, Mahauxmi's mther in law over hears this and confronts them about it, Mahaluxmi is caught out and an argument develops in the process she pushes her mother in law and she falls down and hurts herself, the mother in law is in bed and her husband delhi Ganesh doesn't reall take much notice of her, he claims that she is staging all this beacuse he had taken all the food and stuff from Ramani and Krishnaveni.

Krishnaveni comes to heare of the news that her mother in law was hurt by Mahaluxmi and that no one had dome anything about it, she storms to Delhi Ganesh's house, pulls Mahaluxmi aside and slaps her repeatedly and takes her mother in law with her, elhi Gaensh curses them both that they will come running back to him when they realise the errors of their ways.

Arasu decides to stand in the election for the position of MLA,
his father and himslef go to the MLA's place and emotinally blackmail him into giving up the position of MLA and standing at the elections, futhermore they demand that th MLA must leave all his inhertience and wealth to his daughter. The MLA is not happy about this but due does not have a choice and reluctantly agrees to it.

For the campaign for the upcoming elections, Arasu asks his father for the money that he had given him, Delhi Ganesh explains that he has given all the money to Mahaluxmi and her father, Arasu is furious upon hearing this, he thriws a tantrum and demands tht the money that he earned be returned to him promptly, Delhi Ganesh tells Mahaluxmi to go get the money from her father, at Mahaluxmi's house her father tells him that he cannot do anything anbou it as the business is not going so well, MAhalauxmi's brother in law also adds fuel to this, they tell her that they cannot do anything about it and after much drama, Mahaluxmi comes home witha small amount of money not the full amount, Arasu is mad at Mahaluxmi, he tells her and her father that hell will break lose if he doesn't get all his money back.

Delhi Ganesh goes to see MAhalaxmi's father and relaises that he is not going to get his money back that soon, so he agrees to him paying the intrest and meanwhile goes and gives a blank cheque to some pawn broker guy to get the amount that Arasu needs. At home the situation between Arasu and Mahaluxmi is at breaking point. Delhi Ganesh gives him the money and tells him to go ahead with his campainging.

AtKrishnaveni's household, krishnaveni's parent pursuade Ramani to ome back and start working at the hotel, Ramani is reluctant because he eleives that wherever he goes his bad luck follows him, anyway he agrees to it anf goes to the hotel, there the guy who is the cashier is replaced by Ramani , he is not hppy about it, after a while everyone in the hotel begin to throw up and vomit, all the customers are sick and some are taken to the hospital, the police come and takes Ramani and his father in law, the gy that was cashier before RAmni took over looks on with glee.
News that Ramani and his father in law have been arrested reaches home, Delhi Ganesh is happy to know that they have been arrested he tells the bearer of the newsa that this only the start, RAmani's elder brother who is married to Mahaluxmi is disgusted by the antics of his father and rushes to the aid Ramani and his father law. Mahaluxmi is secretly happy becuase she has always wanted to see Krishnaveni fall and this is just the start.

Krishnaveni and her borther in law (Ramani's brother) discuss what they should do when an employee from the hotle comes to ee them, he tells them that he has his suspician on this particular cashier guy to go and check up on him, Krishnaveni and her brother in law go to his place, tey question his wife and stage a drama that her brother in law is actually an investigator, they confess to adding stuff to the food so that the customers will get sick and he tells them that they did this all because ome guy hadcome and given them ahuge some of maoney to do so, the guy who gave them the money is none other that Mahalumi's father,

mahalauxmi's father is taken into the police station, he is very arrogant and throws his weight around, the police officer is not fazed by it. news that Mahalaxmi's father has been arrested reaches home, Mahalauxmi asks her fther in law and arasu to come with her to the station, thge both come up with excuses to not go, finally Mahaklauxmi goes to see him at the station, she tells the officers that Krishnaveni had created thisall so as to get revenge on her.

Ramani and his father in law come home, they are all happy to see each other, Krishnaveni's father sees that Ramani is feeling down and goes to cheer him up, he tells him a story an they all laugh , Mahaluxmi comes in at this point and accuses them all for laughing at her father, she vows that she will break this family and make everyone suffer for the wrongs that they had done to her. Krishnaveni's mother goes to calm her down and talk to her but she is pushed away by Mahaluxmi.


I MISSED A COUPLE OF EPISODES HERE....

latest what i saw was that:

Arasu has now become an MLA and refuses to marry the former MLA's daughter as he has his sights on some other girl. The MLA's wife and her daughter go to see him and they are rduly recieved by Arasu, the MLA goes to see Delhi GAnesh to demand an answer, he tells him that he only afreed t thi marrige because he and his son had spread rumours that his daugther was in relationship, Delhi ganesh tells him that he cannot do anything about it for which the MLA pulls out a gun and threatens him.
Things are not so great betwen father and on, Arasu tells delhi Ganesh not to come to the guest house anymore, Delhi Ganesh is betrayed by the son that he invested everything in and also the daughter in law that he had so much blind faith in, his elder son tells him that he had always warned him about this but it was Delhi Ganesh's own stubborn attitude that landed him here. There is no food at house as Mahaluxmi only makes Uppuma and ot add futher fuel she mocks him and calls him "MLA appa"

out on the street Amsaveni is on a van, she sees Rohini adnstops her and they talk, Rohini explains to her that there was a mix up by her father to cover up . she explains that it was in her chart the it said that her father would die if he was to marry and becuase she had confronted him about it he siad that it was Amsaveni's chart. Things are getting abit tense at amsaveni's place as well, Ratnam is beginning to notice that things are not wuite the same with his daughter, he sees her wearing a sari (Krishnaveni never liked wearing saris)

since it's holiday time here I'm watching alot more serials than I should be, the serial AVARGAL finished last week and now a new serial has taken over called NIMMADHI that usually airs during my lunch break so i can always catch a bit of that.

I was following ANANDAM and KOLANGAL but now by the time i get back from work I miss most of it so usually only catch the friday's episode of the show and I get the rest of the updates online.

I can't stand KANAVARUKAAGA, something really odd about the serial, it's got an okay cast and an interesting story, but the poor production value and that horrid music drives me mad.

my grandmother loves "Sorgam", I've only watched a few episodes here and there.

in the last episode that i saw that inspector Kalimuthhu had been arrested and Maria Jones' name had been cleared, Maria Jones and her father go to one of the legal staff thank him as he was instrumental in clearing her name, there the perosn reveals that someone else had given evidence and it was his testimony that helped Maria, when Maria finds out who it is she is furious and leaves in huff (it's some guy she doesn't like !), at home her father tells her that they should go and thank him in person, she tells hi that she will not do anything like that.

Indhu (not sure what her character's name is), is working at the hospital and she soon becomes a favourite staff member ofthe hospital head, he makes her a medical supervisor much to the detest of the other staff memebers, they get together and conspire to throw Indhu out of the hospital forever. Indhu sees her daughter come home on bike with another guy, she is angry upon seeing this and hits her, later her daughter begins to ask questions about their nomadic lifestyle.

Manaivi update:

Ratnam calls Krishna (?) that guy over and asks him questions regarding Krishnaveni, he asks her if he has noticed anything odd about her and asks a series of questions he asks him what name did Krishnaveni uses when she signed a document incorrectly, Krishna tells him tht he used the name Amsaveni. Krishna asks Krishnaveni if everything is alright at home between her and her father as he is asking way too many quastons regarding her.

Rohini is praying at the alter, the inspector is reading the paper, his cook tells him that Rohini is going to tonsure her head if she is reunited with Arivu, Inspector sees an article in the paper about a dead body of male that has been discovered, he goes to the place where they ar keeping Arivu, Arivu tells them that he is not Arivu and is in fact ILango, he is taken away, the other officer thinks that they might have possibly got the wrong guy, the inspector thwarst that statement, he asks for the clothes that Arivu was wearing when they arrested him.

Rohini is cooking in the kitchen an the inspector asks her ll this question weather a young window would remamrry, Rohini tells him that if you loved someone deeply then that person would not want to remarry, the inspector was not expexcting this as his answer, he asks her what date did arivu go missing, Rohini tells him that it was October 13, the inspector tells her that they had found a body dating back to a week from that date and tht they had taken photo and burnt the body and gives herthe photo to indentify it, he assres that it is not likely to be Arivu, Rohini recognises the clothes, she collapses upon discovering it into the inspector's arm, he has her exactly where he wants her.

alot has happened in Manaivi recently.

the MLA's family are still trying to recover from betrayal of Arasu.
The MLA"s wife and Anjali go to Krishnaveni's house and they tell them everything that has been happening, Araivu too comes there for a hpto seesion with his mother, she slps him and takes him into the house and asks for an explanation, Arivu refuses to marry Anjalai and tells them that he never loved her and he never even for once told her that he loved her. He leaves in huff and and also challeneges Krishnaveni that within 15 days he'll make her leave Sriperumathoor forever.

at the MLA's house the mood is rather sombre, emotions are high,Anajali tells her father that there is no use begging Arivu or trying to kill him it will achieve nothing, she'd rather prove to him that life will go on for her and her family, she tells her father that she ill agree to whoever they arrange a marrige for and that she will live happily and show him and also wants her father to stand in the next elections and defeat him. The marrige proposals come in and there is an intrested party, the date is fixed and the arrnagements are going when news arrive that the groom party are not interested as they had heard som unflaterring things about Anjali, the MLA collapses on the floor upon hearing this.

Amasaveni goes to make a phone call and it is answered by the guy who has his suspicians on Amaveni not being Krishnaveni, Rathnam is listening to the entire conversation, the uy accuses her of not being Krishnaveni and that she is Amsaveni, she denies it and the guy keeps accusin her, Rathnam is on the other line behind her watching her squirm, finally she cracks and adsmists that she is Amsaveni in a toungue slip, Rathnam lashes at her, and the rest of the family including Velu. Amost the madness Amsaveni runs away and hides , Rathanm comes searching for her in the street.

Krishnaveni back at Sriperumathoor decides it's time that shge and Ramani go to the city, she assures her mother in law that her father Rathnam would make all the neccesary finacial asstiance even before she asks for it.

Rathnam's wife comes to wake him up in the mornig and realises that Rathnam has passed away.

Kirshnaveni and Ramani are on their way to Chennai unaware of the fate that awaits them...

MANAIVI UPDATE:

Anjali and her mother are told by Arasu's elder brother to go to the minister's house and ask for justice, Anjalai doesn't want to go, her mother takes her there , they tell the Minister everything, but he doesn't care, Arasu insults Anjalai further, she tells her mother not to bother talking to these idiots, if the minister wants to throw his dauthers life into turmoil let him do so, she tells Arasu that she will live on and prove to him that she can survive and that she will make each and every day o his life a living a hell, she tell him do not expect happy maritial life !

Kirshnaveni goes to Chennai to find that her adopted father Rathnam has passed on, she is however not allowed to attend the final ceremony as Amsaveni claims that she is Krishnaveni, Krishnaveni is thrown out of the house, Krishnaveni leaves vowiwing that she will prove that Amsaveni is a fake and i not Krishnaveni and leaves.

Krishnaveni and Ramani are at the emple, Velu lures Ramani and takes him to amsaveni, there upon seeing her they embrace, Krishnaveni catches them and gives Amasaveni the slapping of her life and drags Ramani. Amasaveni tells Velu that she wants to chase Krishnaveni out of the equation and marry RAmani and if they want Rathnam's wealth they must do as she tells them.

Rohini is at the store buying some sewing stuff and is about to get on th auto when her father the Joshiyar spots her, he calls out to her but she cannot her him , she goes on in the auto her tries to run after but is stopped by car, later he tells his wife about seeing her, he still feels bitter about her and Arivu, he tells her that he needs to vent out his anger on one of them, his wife however thinks that they should just forgive and forget.

Ramanai's mother comes back to Sriperumathoor to see her daughter Abarana, she is coldly greeted by her husband Delhi Ganesh, she notices that he is doing hi own washing and is not exactly happ, however he doesn't give up his pride and tell her that she chos to move out what is she doing here, she explains that she is here to see her daugther, she sees Abarana , gives her the stuff she has bought for her, sees her grandchildren and her elder son, her elder daugther in law (the supposed mahaluxmi) continues to make sarcastic jibes at her.

Amsaveni's mother and father go to see Amsaveni and bring her back home, she refuses to come with them and insults them, Amsaveni also tell her mother tht from now on Banu amma is her mother and Velu is like an elder brother to her. velu promises Amsaveni that he will get rid of Krishnaveni for good and that he will reunite Ramani with he, he tell s her that intially all they worried about was about the wealth but now through Amsaveni they feel as hough they have aquired a new fmaily member.

preparation are underway for Arasu and the minister's dauther's wedding.

Anjali has someplan up her sleeve

Arivu finally comes home back to Shriperumathoor, he asks for forgiveness from his parents, he was unsucceful in trying to find Rohini and her parents. The MLa and his wife tell arivu of Anjalai's sitaution, upon hearing all this Arivu gets upset, he and the rest of the gang go to Arasu's place, they call out for his and Arasu beats him up, the police comes and takes away Arivu, Manohar (Arasu's elder bro) MALA and his wife.

The Nitchayathartham is happening and Anjali rings Arasu, she asks him to just tll her that he loved her, just for once, Arasu hang up on he, she continues to ring her and during the course it is revealed that she has taken some sleeping pills and as the scene progresses we realise that she has taken a lethal dose, Arasu begins to panic thinking that anjalai has taken pills as he might be held responsible, he finally thinks hat she is just playing with him to try and get him to confess tht he loves her so that she can use that against him, he taunts her that she had vowed to ruin him and make sure that he never has a blissful married life, but she has failed in that and that in a few hours h will be married to minister daugther.

Neelaveni is reading the paper and reads an artice and finds out that Anjali has passed on , she tell the rest of the family, Krishnaveni feels responsible that she should have done more.

the wedding between Arasu and the girl goes ahead, she has some secret and is not exactly thrilled about the whole thing, he father and mother look equally somewhat conformatble with something.

Anjalai body is taken from post mortem , everyone is greiving her death, she is being takn away on an ambulance, arasu is happily eating all the wedding sweets, Araivu hold on to anjalai for one last time.

I would like to comment on one fact/fiction that is coming out on more serials now then ever before. In the serial Manaivi the other sister wants to marry?? the guy who is already married to her sister. In another serial Kanavarukkaga a girl becomes physically intimate with a guy who is the husband of her best friend and wants to marry him. What bothers me is that the women are being potrayed in this manner. Am I the only one who is viewing the world through pink glasses. I have been living abroad for 20 years and I thought this sort of characters only existed elsewhere. When did this become prevalent in India? My husband is of the view that this was already existing but only coming out now.

it is great that you are updating about Manaivi serial, I am not regular watcher of Manaivi serial but accidentally I went through today episode!

It is amazing to know the guy who acted as Inspector in this serial is my classmate. sorry I forgot his name but so surprised to see him on small screen after 15 years of my college life.
