I think both Krish and Fanaa will come out as good movies.

I only wonder if Fanaa will be too much of a repetition of patriotic tales from Amir.

Krish will be interesting as the Roshans would have really planned and packaged it well.

Fanaa means destroyed in love.

To choose between right or wrong is simple, but what defines one's life is the decision between the greater of two goods or the lesser of two evils. This is the advice that Zooni Ali Beg (Kajol) receives from her father just as she is about to venture out into the world on her own for the very first time. Little does she know that these very words will shape her life?

Zooni, a blind Kashmiri girl, meets Rehan Qadri (Aamir Khan), a local tour guide and an incorrigible flirt, who goes from city to city exploring their architecture and also the women. Zooni's friends warn her against this good-for-nothing roadside Romeo, but she chooses to ignore them. She is not one to be protected. It is now her time to discover life, and love. Is this really the right choice?

Rehan is fascinated by Zooni. He truly wants her to see life as it should be seen, in its many colours - and as he promises her, the time spent with him will be the most precious in all her life. Zooni sees Delhi, life and love like she never has before, because of Rehan.

What Zooni doesn't know is that Rehan has another side of his life that he has kept from her - something that can not only change her life, but can also destroys it.

[tscii:8dcb209e8d]Krrish proves that not all superheroes are made in America. India has one as well
By IndiaFM News Bureau, June 22, 2006 - 03:02 IST

If as the mentally challenged Rohit Mehra of Koi... Mil Gaya, he had you in tears, as the dashing and darling super hero Krrish, Hrithik will have you on the edge of your seats. And even as you're moved by his emotional vulnerability, you will cheer yourself hoarse for his dare devil actions. We at IndiaFM were invited for a private screening of the movie this week and here is a sneak peek into one of the most awaited movie of the year.

The movie starts with child Krishna and the reasons why Rekha takes him to the village and spreads her protective wings around her super gifted grandson. Hrithik's race with the horse in the initial reels sets the tempo for an adrenaline rush one is supposed to experience throughout the movie.

The first hour of the film is interspersed with comic scenes on how Krrish instills fear in Priya (Priyanka Chopra) and her group (while they are on a vacation in India) and later falls in love with her. Some scenes of Koi… Mil Gaya appear in a flashback to show the continuity between the two versions.

Some scenes deserve a mention here

- Krrish saving Priya in the initial reels.
- Krrish displaying his skills to collect money for the disabled girl.
- Priya asking Krrish to climb a pole faster than an Orang Utan called Mao
- The motorcycle fight sequence
- The Circus Scene

There are only four songs in the movie - two before the intermission and two afterwards. 'Dil Na Diya' stands out for its superb choreography and picturization.

And there's a surprise element as well in the movie and we are not going to reveal it... It comes as a shock to the viewer and at the point where Hrithik is at the airport, all set to return back to his village from Singapore.

The movie belongs to Hrithik Roshan from start to end. Bollywood had heroes till now. But now we have a superhero in a true Bollywood sense. Krrish proves that not all superheroes (read Spiderman, Superman etc) are made in America. India has one as well.

Go watch it…

Krrish is BIG News
Faridoon Shahryar, IndiaGlitz [Thursday, June 22, 2006]

Krrish is BIG News. The advance booking of this magnum opus from the Rakesh Roshan’s exclusive Filmkraft Factory is historic. It is all set to rake in Rs 50 crore in the first three days. That means the record of Rs 32 crore set by ‘Fanaa’ a month ago is all set to be broken. With 870 prints pumped into the market, Krrish made at a budget of Rs 40 crore shall be making profit in the first three days itself. The trade is jubilant. Yashraj Films, the distributors for ‘Krrish’ are ecstatic as well. And the cine-going-public is desperately waiting for the D-Day: 23rd June, 2006, when India’s answer to Superman shall fly in the air of brilliance.

In a related incident, the anti-piracy cell of Music Company T-Series which is in-charge of the music and video rights of ‘Krrish’ received a call-of-death from Pakistan, allegedly by the makers of spurious pirates ‘Sadaf Video’. The caller threatened with dire consequences if T-Series didn’t stop the attempts to curb piracy. Sadaf Video is said to be owned by Underworld Don Chota Shakeel and is a menace for the Hindi Film Industry. For no sooner a film is released in India, the pirated copies of the same are instantly available in Pakistan, UAE, Gulf and other countries where Indian films are watched. According to reliable sources, the original master copy of Krrish is valued at Rs 9 Crore in the piracy market. This shows the kind of anticipation Rakesh Roshan’s superhero has generated worldwide.

All you guys, read the review of ‘Krrish’ FIRST on IndiaGlitz this Friday.

IT IS ALSO EXPECTED THAT KRRISH CAN EASILY BEAT AMEER KHAN'S FANAA!!

[tscii:929ed01c25]Yes, finally, the much-awaited KRRISH has arrived. Armed with monumental expectations, this sequel to KOI… MIL GAYA is touted to win the hearts of kids from 6 to 60. Most importantly, KRRISH is expected to rewrite box-office history.

Since the inception of the character during the 1930s, Superman has been fodder for a variety of movies and television series, both live and animated. Though Hindi film heroes have had the qualities of Superman, it’s for the first time that a lead man with a mask and robe is about to invade the Hindi screen.

KRRISH is a crucial release for yet another reason. The Rakesh Roshan-Hrithik Roshan combo has given us back-to-back successes: KAHO NAA… PYAAR HAI and KOI… MIL GAYA. Quite naturally then, the expectations from KRRISH are humungous.

The great news is that KRRISH more than meets the expectations. The film works, and works big time, due to several reasons. Besides a novel premise for Indian moviegoers, it has Hrithik Roshan enacting a role that fits him like a glove. Mind you, the role of a man with superpowers and a robust personality to match would’ve fallen flat in inept hands and the best of techno-wizardry would’ve, hence, been ignored, unobserved and unnoticed.

But one of the major highpoints of KRRISH is its penultimate 40 minutes. The fight between good and bad, noble versus immoral, virtuous versus corrupt has been depicted in film after film. And if the fight between the two extremes is portrayed in the most convincing fashion, the viewer is bound to carry the film home and most importantly, return to the movieplex to watch the on-screen clash once again.

The collision of righteous [Hrithik] and wicked [Naseer] in KRRISH and the usage of special effects and thrills takes the film to an altogether different level. It wouldn’t be wrong to state that Hindi moviegoers haven’t witnessed something like this ever. Also, the re-emergence of Rohit [the lead character of KOI… MIL GAYA] in the story is a master stroke from the writing and execution point of view. It only strengthens the climax and makes the fight utmost convincing.

KRRISH also reaffirms the fact that Rakesh Roshan has adapted to the changing times well. While most of his contemporaries have slipped into oblivion, Roshan Sr. has moved with the fast-changing times and gathered courage to narrate a tale that’s present-day and at the same time, inventive. At the same time, KRRISH is soaked in Indian emotions [the relationship Hrithik shares with his grandmom Rekha], talks of astrology using computer as a tool and shows the protagonist with superpowers -- a story Indians can absorb very easily. Concurrently, Roshan Sr. relies on dexterously executed special effects to narrate the tale. And the pulsating stunts and thrills only act as sone pe suhaaga.

In a nutshell, KRRISH is a terrifically exciting and compelling experience. Move over SUPERMAN, BATMAN and SPIDERMAN. KRRISH, the Indian superhero, has arrived!

Krishna [Hrithik Roshan] is born with magical powers -- a legacy from his father, Rohit Mehra.

Free as a bird, he runs like the wind… Like an eagle, he soars across rivers and mountain tops… As a lion, he conquers rugged rocks without fear…

Priya [Priyanka Chopra] comes into his life and becomes his world. When she beckons him to Singapore, he follows her there. Little realizing it is destiny that has summoned him. Having sheltered him from the world, his grandmother Sonia [Rekha] reluctantly gives in to him and lets him follow his heart.

In Singapore, Dr. Siddhant Arya [Naseeruddin Shah], the megalomaniac scientist, is on the verge of changing the future forever. Only one man stands between Dr. Siddharth and his destructive dreams. Only one man has the power to block his ruthless ambitions. Krrish.

KRRISH is essentially three movies rolled into one: It starts off as a love story, changes gears and becomes a traditional superhero story and in the pre-climax, it’s the clash between good versus evil. While the first part seems like any other love story, it has its moments. Note Hrithik’s introduction and also, Hrithik saving Priyanka from an accident [their first meeting] and you know that there’s more to the film than a saccharine-sweet love story.

The first hour, in fact, may give an impression that it’s a routine fare, but knowing Roshan Sr.’s style of showing his cards in the second hour, you await the post-interval portions with bated breath. And lo! KRRISH takes giant strides in this hour. The story actually gathers momentum when Sharat Saxena spills the beans and the film goes into a flashback. From thereon, right till the end titles, it’ a different film altogether. And that’s its biggest achievement. The team of writers [Sachin Bhowmick, Honey Irani, Robin Bhatt, Akash Khurana and Rakesh Roshan] deserve brownie points for padding the film with pulse-pounding moments.

The film has its share of blemishes too. The pace slackens intermittently in the first hour, primarily because the story doesn’t move beyond the romantic scenes. Also, the music [Rajesh Roshan] isn’t as mesmerizing as the Roshan brothers’ previous works. The songs of KRRISH are functional, barring the ‘Dil Na Diya’ track, which is complimented by an energetic picturization.

The action scenes [Tony Ching Siu Tung from Hong Kong and Sham Kaushal] are superb and will be greeted by claps and cheers. Hrithik’s stunts in Naseer’s den are simply awe-inspiring. Prior to that, the chase portions -- Hrithik chasing Naseer on land, water and air -- is astounding. The special effects [Marc Kolbe and Craig Mumma, both from U.S.A.] are incredible. In fact, the special effects are a pillar of the enterprise. Santosh Thundiyil’s cinematography is exceptional. The film bears a stunning look all through. Salim-Sulaiman’s background score is of international quality. It only heightens the impact further.

To state that Hrithik is the soul of KRRISH would be an understatement. If the actor walked away with all noteworthy awards in KOI… MIL GAYA, it’s going to be an encore with KRRISH. You cannot imagine any other actor enacting the role of a gifted child with aplomb. If his mask and robe look is splendid, watch his make up, gait and mannerisms as the aged father and you’d agree, he’s one of the finest talents on the Indian screen today. KRRISH is yet another ground-breaking film in his dazzling repertoire!

Priyanka is the archetypal Hindi film heroine. Not surprising, since everyone in Hrithik’s radius is bound to get eclipsed. Rekha is highly effective, especially in the scene after the confrontation, when she narrates the true story to Hrithik. Naseeruddin Shah excels yet again. He plays the cool, calculating and conniving villain to perfection.

The remaining actors -- Sharat Saxena, Puneet Issar, Akash Khurana, Hemant Pandey, Manini Mishra, Kiran Juneja Sippy and Archana Puransingh -- are satisfactory. Preity Zinta is there for one scene.

On the whole, KRRISH is a winner all the way. At the box-office, the film will rewrite box-office history and emerge one of the biggest hits ever. The film will establish records from Day 1 itself, while the first weekend business will be brilliant and the first week billing should shatter all previous records. A money spinner, KRRISH is a definite blockbuster! [/tscii:929ed01c25]

[tscii:6e63f7d162]‘Krrish’ Jump Lands a Youth in Hospital
Faridoon Shahryar, IndiaGlitz [Saturday, June 24, 2006]

http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/hindi/article/23296.html

Hrithik Roshan’s superman saga ‘Krrish’ released amidst a hysterical response from the masses. The crowds are going delirious by watching the super antics of the man-in-the-mask as he runs like a cheetah, flies like a superman, dresses like a Batman and webs his magic in a typical Spiderman manner. One fan in Abhishek Cinema Hall in Khanwa, a small town in Madhya Pradesh got a bit carried away as he jumped from the balcony of the cinema hall in the stalls attempting a ‘Krrish’ flight.

This is just the beginning of ‘Krrish’ mania as the kids are going berserk over the first Indian Superhero. Police in Khandwa are not impressed by the super jump of this young fan and plan to book him for attempted suicide once he is out of the hospital where he is being treated for a fracture in the leg.

‘Krrish’ has been given a Thumbs Up by the cine going public and in the process they have made fun of the copybook critics who’ve more-or-less panned the film in general. There’s no doubting the fact that Rakesh Roshan clearly aimed his film towards the kids and he has succeeded in a big way. Earlier, IndiaGlitz had reported that around 870 prints are being released, but due to the overwhelming demand, over 1000 prints had to be released including the dubbed versions in South Indian Languages as well. ‘Krrish’ is a blockbuster of the highest magnitude. Come Soccer, rain or thunder, ‘Krrish’ shall find a way to touch his fan base.

KRRISH = Superman + PayCheck + Hong Kong Action

My friend saw it and had very good opinion about the movie.

+ Hrithik Roshan
+ Action and Special effects (by Bollywood standards)

- Story/Script or lack of it
- Melodramatic Rekha (God knows how Krishna retained his powers in spite of taking in all her "rona dhona")

Differences with other superhero movie

- Songs (you really wish them away)
- Indian emotional drama (makes it a lollipop)

An interesting aspect is that the absence of emotional conflict between "The SuperHero" and the "Ordinary Guy". Take Superman, Spiderman, Batman they all have a internal conflict between "the Superhero they are" and "the ordinary man they wish to be". But here Krishna is very comfortable being Krissh

- 26.06.2006

Even before its release, Hritik Roshan’s latest bilingual in Hindi and Tamil, ‘Krish’, has managed to recover more than 50% of its expenses! By making more than Rs 15 crores, the film has created records of sorts.

‘[tscii:b09aae95ad]K[/tscii:b09aae95ad]rrish’ is blazing guns at the Box Office. The unprecedented response from Patna to New York has left everyone dazed. But director Rakesh Roshan is also facing criticism from various quarters. Some people are of the opinion that ‘Krrish’ fails to touch people’s hearts the way ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ did. Roshan Senior feels that comparisons always happen. But comparing ‘Krrish’ with ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ is like comparing Raj Kapoor’s ‘Sangam’ with ‘Awaara’. The Box Office collections according to him tell another story as ‘Krrish’ is all set to be the biggest blockbuster of India. He says that ‘Krrish’ will cross Rs 60 Crores in seven days.

Replying to the allegation that the film is too long and that the comic element in the first half is not required, Roshan justifies the old fashioned comedy by stating that when he makes a film he has to think about an audience as far and wide as Patna to US. The people living in the interiors of the country relish old fashioned comedy so he had to have it for making his film more palatable to a wider audience. As for the excessive product endorsements being plugged in the film, he is of the opinion that it happens in West all the time. And as long as the narrative isn’t getting affected then what’s the harm.

[tscii:74b6ae4867]`Krrish` conquers Kerala!

By Moviebuzz | Tuesday, 27 June , 2006, 11:59

The Hrithik Roshan starrer Krrish has taken Kerala by storm. The film has netted an amazing Rs 16.55 Lakhs from 10 prints in its opening weekend (June 23-25) the highest ever for a Hindi film in the state!
It is the ladies and kids who seem to be enjoying this movie. The trade is also happy that the film could survive the football frenzy, which has ruined even superstar Malayalam films.

Krrish has collected in Ernakulam Padma for three days Rs 2,51,175 and in Thiruvananthapuram Athulya Rs 2, 47,258 a new city record. At Savitha in Peruthalmana in Malappuram district it could net Rs 65,992 in three days.

According to trade circles Krrish has the potential to get a distributor’s share of Rs 60 to 70 Lakhs from Kerala which is truly amazing.

Krrish DECLARED AS BLOCKBUSTER

June 27, 2006 19:40 IST
Last Updated: June 27, 2006 21:54 IST

Just four days after it released, Rakesh Roshan's Krrish has been declared a box-office blockbuster; by Friday, the film's worldwide collections are likely to cross Rs 60 crore (Rs 600 million).

"Krrish saw a bigger opening than (Aamir Khan starrer and recent blockbuster) Fanaa as from day one it had huge occupancy. The way it is going, it can break Fanaa's record," says Vinod Mirani, film trade analyst and editor of the trade magazine Box Office.

Fanaa has managed to garner Rs 90 crore (Rs 900 million) worldwide -- excluding Gujarat, where the film ran into trouble because of Aamir's comments on the Narmada Dam issue -- since its release on May 26.

On the first day, Aamir's film saw 85 per cent to 90 per cent collections; Krrish enjoyed packed theatres, a 100 per cent record.

Though the critics gave Krrish mixed reviews, the audiences flocked to the theatres to see India's first superhero Hrithik Roshan. And the children loved the stunts.

"The Indian audiences had never seen such stunts and action in our films. They could relate to the characters more easily because it was Hrithik Roshan who was playing the role of superman," says Komal Nahta, film trade analyst and editor of the trade weekly Film Information.

"There was novelty in the film. People also loved it because the film is rooted in emotion and they could relate to the character of Krrish," Nahta adds.

Taran Adarsh, another trade analyst, agrees: "The superhero concept was alien to our film industry. Therefore, Krrish sets itself apart from other films. The movie is a blockbuster and is going to be one of the biggest hits in our times."

The demand for the film was so huge that in some multiplexes tickets were not available despite 12 shows being run on a single day.

Curiosity -- this was Hrithik's first film in two years -- and the fact that Krrish is a sequel to the hit Koi Mil Gaya, were other factors that worked for the Roshan project.

"Over the weekend, we had full shows for Krrish. Now, the occupancy rate is 70 per cent. Already the late evening shows for next week have been booked." says Niranjan Prakash, general manager, sales and marketing, Fun Republic, a Mumbai multiplex.

Black marketers too, have flown piggyback on the Hrithik fever. Over the weekend, Krrish tickets were selling for as much as Rs 900 at some places -- four times the original cost.

Special effects was done by a division of the company I work for. Some of my friends / colleagues were part of the visual fx & Digital enhancement teams. The film processing & development, and DTS audio was also done by my company. Saw the film yesterday ( as part of my job ) and found it ok - kids will love it. Its a clean film which can be seen with the whole family. Couple of nice songs too.
Hrithik Roshan dances as good as our own Vijay !

Surya : thnx :notworthy:. and just a few days ago, a colleague from the visual effects division showed us a video of how the effects were done - a shot by shot comparison between the scene in the movie, and the actual :redjump: :bluejump: animation / visual effects layout done in the PC. though at first i was :confused2: how they did some effects, later on i pondered over it and eventually figured it out 8-). i think this video will also be included in the Original DVD to be released soon in US, UK, Canada etc. also included are interviews of Hrithik Roshan, Rakesh Roshan and the Spl effects supervisor. :D

btw I marked the scenes & songs for the Original DVD of KRRISH ( soon to be released in Western markets in NTSC format ) and was also part of the DVD Authoring team. if any of you can rent it and give some feedback on it, it would be quite useful !
