[tscii:61e4e5f32e]This event has been regularly conducted in my college (Anna University). I guess many of you will be familiar with the concept. All you gotta do is to do an intelligent search using the worlds most popular search engine, Google and come up with answers  Sounds really simple I guess, (or so do you think MUAAHAAHAHAHAH  : P : D )
Here are the first few questions ( I will add some more based upon the response here). These are from a contest conducted by CSAU society in my college. So those who have attended this before, (I mean ppl from my college) pls hold ur excitement and let other have some fun. If at all no one can crack, we will come up with the answers. HAVE A NICE TIME GOOGLING!!!
PART-I

3.Identify the site on which it appears: (Easy one  )
[html:61e4e5f32e]http://www.csau.org/events/googlewars_files/image007.jpg[/html:61e4e5f32e]

OK, here is my solution set! (the one which I came up with )
1.http://www.google.com/intl/en/logos/backrub_small.jpg 'or'
http://www.google.com/logos/backrub.jpg
When Google was a Stanford research project, it was nicknamed BackRub because the technology checks backlinks to determine a site's importance
3.http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wikipedias
it is the list of articles in each language, ordered by size, the complete list of all 214 languages.
4.January 27, 1994 Brian Pinkerton, a CSE student at the University of Washington, starts WebCrawler in his spare time. At first, WebCrawler was a desktop application, not a Web service as it is today. WebCrawler spat out its first Top 25 list on March 15, 1994. April 20, 1994 WebCrawler goes live on the Web with a database containing pages from just over 4000 different Web sites.
5.Amazon.com homepage. These websites are the featured partners of amazon.com
Again, someone find the solution for the second one. Wat abt some more questions?
Anoushka

[tscii:14046ee399]1.Identify the former domain name address of the site at which the foll text exists:
“I have upgraded the forums, and rather than seeking to keep all the old data I have instead opted to start with a clean slate. Perhaps this will provide some encouragement for me to resume my once frequent updates.
In the meantime, all former registered users will unfortunately have to re-register — though, as this takes less than a minute, I trust I won't hear too many complaints.”
2. Identify the site: (easy one!)
[html:14046ee399]http://www.csau.org/events/googlewars_files/image029.jpg[/html:14046ee399]
3. Give me the language used in the Google interface below:
[html:14046ee399]http://www.csau.org/events/googlewars_files/image031.jpg[/html:14046ee399]
4. Give me the exact date on which this occurred:
[html:14046ee399]http://www.csau.org/events/googlewars_files/image033.jpg[/html:14046ee399]
5. Find the connection between the two:
[html:14046ee399]http://www.csau.org/events/googlewars_files/image035.jpg[/html:14046ee399]
[html:14046ee399]http://www.csau.org/events/googlewars_files/image037.jpg[/html:14046ee399][/tscii:14046ee399]

Actually the picture that is provided in the question is not as clear as the one in this page.. dont know why?
thamizhvaanan
29th April 2006, 11:33 PM
:clap:yea u are right, the picture is Prise de la Bastille, by Jean-Pierre-Louis-Laurent Houel, which depicts the storming of Bastille which took place on July 14, 1789.
The clue tat i mentioned is the guillotine. i remembr one wiseman saying
"there is only one cure to greyhair, teh frenchmen invented it. it is called guillotine"
