The Durga pooja (Goddess pooja) navaratri
comes just 1 month before Deewali. MahaaLaya amaavasya (new moon) is the start of that Navaratri. The next amaavasya (new moon) of MahaaLaya would be Deewali. This navaratri which the author is talking about is different and is "vasantha navaratri", the one which comes in Mar-Apr is not of significance.
