Fans of Ilayaraaja : Exciting times are here!!
Music Maestro Ilayaraaja has released a new compilation of devotianal songs called Guru Ramana Geetam which is now available in the market. This devotional album was awaited long by Ilayaraaja's fans, especially after his earlier wonderful private album, Raaja-vin Ramana maalai (apart from the very popular Ilayaraja's Geethanjali). Fans are in for a feast as Ilayaraaja writes, scores and sings unbounded by any filmy restraints.
Of all the pilgrimages that Ilayaraja periodically undertakes, the most frequent one is to Thiruvannamalai where Ramana Maharishi, the Sage of Arunachala lived. It is well known that he visits Ramanasram every pournami (day of the full moon), to meditate and find peace. Ramana’s teachings have undoubtedly proved to be the strongest source of comfort and inspiration for him. In this anthology of hymns and prayers, Ilayaraja expresses both his anguish at being shackled to the material world and his steadfast faith in the power of Ramana to free and redeem him.
Ilayaraja's Guru Ramana Geetam is a must-have for every fan and is distributed by Agi Music Malaysia (http://www.agimusic.com). Please encourage every fan of Ilayaraaja to only buy original CDs and Cassettes as true to his form, 65% of the proceeds from this album will go to Sri Ramanasramam. The CD comes with a 12-page booklet containing the complete lyrics of songs in tamil, synopsis of each song in English and a short biography on Sri Ramana Maharishi.
All songs, including those in Sanskrit, has been written, composed, arranged and produced by Ilayaraja. He has also sung all songs except two which have been sung by renown classical singers, Bombay Jaysree and Unnikrishnan.
