I like her looks in CM and Ayya. I would prefer that any day. She looks great these days. But what irks me is the stripping exercise, she had started of late. It totally spoils the feel. No matter how much better she looks compared to others, she still leaves a bad impression.

Tamanna to replace Nayantara

There was a huge rumour about Nayantara's place in Lingusamy's big budgeted movie with Karthi. According to the reports Nayantara is replaced by the young heroine Tamanna.

Director Lingusamy had signed Nayantara after her most successful film Billa for his next untitled project in his home banner few months ago and offered a whopping amount to Nayan (Rs.1.25 cr). But it is said that after seeing the box office debacle of Nayan's two big films Sathyam and Kuselan, Lingusamy is rethinking his decision. Also, the unexpected failure of Aegan has also forced him to replace Nayantara in this project.

Now, sources reveal that Lingusamy is planning to replace Nayan with Tamanna who is presently riding high in Tamil film industry. But Tamanna ha refused to react to this rumour based reports and says that nobody has contacted her from the director's side.

Case filed against Nayantara

Everyone knows that glamour and sex appeal are Nayantara's USP. While everyone in South India seems to be relishing her plus points, an advocate from her own state chooses to think differently. He has taken strong exception to Naynatara's exposing act in Aegan. He has filed a charge against Nayantara, the producers of Aegan and a theater owner.

The charge was made due to a few posters in and around the theater premises which he considered as unwarrantedly obscene. The court is yet to take up the charges leveled against Nayantara.

Tamil Nadu has seen cases against actresses for wearing skimpy dresses in public functions, but this is first time an actress faces a case for her act in a film.

However, Nayan seems to be unperturbed by this case. She said to a reporter who contacted her that there is difference between glamour and obscene and she would never cross the border. There is censor board, which is entrusted with the responsibility of cutting down the obscene, she opined.

Director Lingusamy has thrashed all rumours that actress Nayantara is no longer part of his pet project Paiya, saying that Nayan is very much part of the project. The hero is Karthi, who is currently busy with Ayirathil Oruvan directed by Selvaraghavan. Karthi has disclosed that as soon as he winds up Ayirathil Oruvan, he will start shooting for Paiya.

Nayantara is basking in the glory of being known as the queen of South India and her hands are full with big budget projects. Karthi, on the other hand, is very careful in choosing films after his highly successful debut in Paruthiveeran. The film brought him fame, accolades and honours. He garnered the Filmfare Best Actor award and was nominated for the National Award (Best Actor) for his stunning performance in the film. Apart from Paiya, he has also signed another film, Neeyum Naanum.

Lingusamy’s home production, Thirupathi Brothers, is currently producing a couple of films including Pattalam in which Nadhiya and a bunch of newcomers play the main roles.

Karthi and Nayantara in 'Paiya'

Lingusamy will soon be directing a film featuring Karthi and Nayantara in lead roles. The shooting of the film would commence once Karthi completes 'Ayirathil Ouvan', which is being directed by Selvaraghavan.

Lingusamy has tentatively titled the movie 'Paiya' meaning 'boy' in English. On rumors that Nayantara has been axed from the film, Lingusamy has emphatically denied them. 'Nayantara is very much part of the project' he says.

Plans are on to shoot the film early next year. Meanwhile Lingusamy's home production Thirupathy Brothers is currently doing a couple of films including the Nadhiya starrer 'Pattalam'.

According to reports, Nayantara was asked to pair with Vijayakanth for his forthcoming film 'Viruthagiri'. However, she had allegedly rejected the offer. When queried, she retorts back saying, 'No, It's isn't true. At the first place, no one came forward with the proposal to act with Vijayakanth for any movie. If approached, I would see whether there is enough scope for me in the script. I go by merit.'

Earlier news is, a whopping sum of one crore rupees was Nayantara's remuneration for Lingusamy's 'Paiya'. But, due to heavy losses incurred in the industry, she was asked to cut down her pay scale. It was then she opted out of the project which became the talk of the town. Now, in Nayantara's place a popular heroine will be bought in, says producer Bose. Nayantara back to the pavilion

Nayantara skipped several offers in Tamil and Telugu, during her wait for Lingusamy's 'Paiya' to kick off, but eventually pulled out of the project following demands to cut her remuneration. Quick to fit in her show was Tamanna.

Now according to reliable sources, Nayantara has migrated to god's country, Kerala. Being back in her native, she has agreed to do a Malayalam movie titled 'Body Guard', which begins on 15 January, the day 'Paiya' goes to floors. A coincidence!

Nayantara began her journey in films with Malayalam movies and she made her debut in Tamil with 'Ayya'. She has been set to act with Dileep in a movie, in Siddhique's direction. It may be recalled that Nayantara had appeared for a song sequence in the recent Malayalam release 'Twenty:20' starring the most popular stars of Mollywood.

Actress Nayanthara, who pulled out of Lingusamy's directorial venture 'Paiya', was assigned to do a Malayalam movie titled 'Body Guard' opposite Dileep. She has ventured to do a Malayalam movie after a gap of four years. She appeared in an item number in the Malayalam hit 'Twenty:20'.

Meanwhile, she has agreed to do a movie in Telugu too. Until a year ago, she was doing few Telugu movies. But a busy schedule in Kollywood forced her to stay away from the Telugu film industry for sometime now.

After 'Ayan', Suriya will act in a movie to be directed by K S Ravikumar. Ravikumar has completed 'Jaggubhai' starring Sarath Kumar and Shriya recently. He is touted to be the director with Midas touch as his 'Dasavatharam' starring Kamal Haasan won him rave reviews and collected huge revenues.

Director Lingusamy, who hitherto was very silent on the Nayantara's ouster from his directorial Paiya, has opened up.

Paiya, to be produced and directed Lingusamy, features Karthi in the lead role. Nayantara was initially assigned to do the female lead in the movie for a whopping sum of over Rs one crore. However, after economic recession and a slew of flops for Nayantara, Lingusamy decided to rework her remuneration, which she resisted. Eventually, she backed out of the project.

Lingusamy has now opened his heart out on her decision. He says, 'Nayantara is one of my favorite actresses. I admire her a lot. In spite of making her debut opposite senior stars like Sarath Kumar and Rajinikanth, she became the most sought after actress by enacting with the likes of young heroes like Dhanush and Simbhu.

'I loved her acting in 'Yaradi Ne Mohini'. We agreed to cast her in 'Paiya', but due to various reasons, we requested her to reduce her remuneration. She rejected and there was no proper communication from her. So, we were forced to rope in Tamanna in Nayanthara's place'.

Nayantara's candid statement

Heroines have a way of being evasive if questioned about them being glamorous onscreen. Most of them veil in the safe statement, 'I will pose glamorous, if the script demands'. But, a different Nayantara says, 'Glamour roles gave me the break'.

Nayantara is relying high hopes on her last jack ‘Villu’ to bring her luck and regain her iconic image in Kollywood. Nayantara shares screen space with Vijay in this movie directed by Prabhu Deva. The movie is getting released two days ahead Pongal, on 12th January.

The self-relied actress confirms about making decisions on her own without any third parties interference, and continues, "I don't heed anyone's advice about choosing my roles. I personally discuss it with my manager at times but in the end, I do what I feel is right. I don't think someone should inculcate me about doing glamour or selecting movies."

'I got a hike in my career after my riveting glam quotient in 'Billa'. When I feel desperate to do plausible demeanors, it doesn't come my way. If you question me, why I don't prefer anything over glamour, how am I to say no for such roles that come my way to share screen space in movies featuring star heroes made under renowned banners,' retorts Nayantara.

Why is Villu equated to Billa?

Nayanthara, who became the talk of the town for her revealing outfits in Billa, says that she does not adhere or seek the advice of anyone while deciding on the costume for a film. The actress states that she would appear in glamorous outfits only if the role demanded so. She adds that she would deny such offers, in case they came by her way, if the role does not require it. According to her, she uses her discretion in such issues and will not blindly follow the advice given to her.

Speaking about Villu, her venture that is due for a release soon, Nayan said that it would be a turning point in her career, as Billa was. Wonder what the actress has in store this time for her fans.

Will Prabhu Deva’s Villu be the true test of your talent?
We’ll see. I don’t know if Villu is the test of my talent. All I know is that, I’ve worked very hard like always and is proud to be a part of this film. It was fun and I thoroughly enjoyed working on Villu and its unit, be it producers Ayangaran, my director Prabhu Deva, hero Vijay, Vadivelu, cameraman Ravi Varman and all the assistants. It was excellent team work and we all have put our heart and soul into the film. It’s a feel good film typical Vijay film, something that will make you feel alive.

How was it working with a tough task master like Prabhu Deva?
He is such a gentleman. But I think he is a tyrant on the sets, and gets the best out of his artists. He enacts every scene and is a perfectionist.

Did you enjoy working with Vijay?
First and foremost, let me confess that I am a huge fan of Vijay. I have never told him this (smiles), but that’s the truth. I have watched all his films and enjoyed each and every scene in it. We shared a great comaradie on the sets. He is a wonderful person, very comfortable to work with, is dedicated and above all very intelligent.

You have been receiving a lot of flak for taking up characters that you did in Kuselan, Sathyam and Aegan which were more of glamour. Please comment
In all these films, I had a good role with comedy, romance and songs. After all, I can only choose the roles that come to me and I put my heart and soul into each and every film that I do. It’s up to the director of any film to bring out the best in the artiste, extract good work and create that magic to show them in positive light. But let me assure you that in Villu my character has shaped out well.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learnt in this industry?
That patience pays for a lifetime.

Tell us about your favourite song in Villu?
Well, I like all the songs but I enjoyed doing the Jalsa… number that we shot in Phuket. Ravi Varman has tried out something different by doing a fantastic job with lighting, close-up’s etc.

Being a superb dancer himself, were you relieved that Prabhu Deva did not choreograph any songs in the film?
Even though he gave complete freedom to all the dance masters, he was there throughout and had his eagle eyes on every step. He is a sharp observer and notices each and every expression and comes up with his suggestions if any.

What is that one thing you enjoyed most during the Villu shoot?
It was the travel. We shot in places like Pollachi, Pazhani, Karaikudi, Chalakudi, Chennai, 20 days in Switzerland, Thailand and Bangkok. The experience was memorable.

Probably if you ask anyone who would be the dream girl in Kollywood in 2009 many a person would undoubtedly say this name. From Superstar Rajinikanth and Sarath Kumar to Suriya and Ajith our lady has played the lead role alongside them.

Yes, you got it right we are talking about Nayantara. We caught up with Nayan who is at the moment basking in the success of her latest release ‘Villu’ where she plays the love interest of ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ Vijay.

Tell us about ‘Villu’ - is it hot and happening as everybody is expecting?

‘Villu’ is stylish and fast. We have worked hard for it. All I can say is that we have worked in a way that fans will enjoy.
Prabhu Deva just can't stop talking about your wonderful performance in the film, but tell us how much you enjoyed working in this project?

Oh that's nice to hear! I am happy about this and we want our fans to enjoy the movie so we have done the best. The rest is in the hands of the audience.

Around four years back when you acted in ‘Ayya’ did you expect such a huge fan following?

When I started I never expected this; it all means that my fans have liked my performance and this is the result for the recognition given by them.

You had gone through rigorous physical exercises for a song in ‘Sathyam’, tell us more about that?

I normally do regular workouts, but for that song I was asked for a much toned up look so, I worked accordingly. It of course needed extra commitment and hard slog.

On a more serious note, actresses are always paid lesser than actors; do you think this is fair?

I think this is fair because actresses normally give lesser number of dates for a film compared to an actor. An actor goes a step ahead with stunt sequences and such extra works as per the script so, naturally that's how it should be.

Does Nayantara admire contemporary heroines?

In Bollywood I admire Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu and down South I admire Simran.

What do you consider as your strong point and your weakness?

My strengths are hard work, confidence, and I don't have anything as far as weakness is concerned.

அன்பு போதும், கோயில் வேண்டாம்-நயன்

தனக்கு ரசிகர்கள் தரும் அன்பே போதும், தனக்காக கோயில் எதுவும் கட்ட வேண்டாம் என நடிகை நயனதாரா வேண்டுகோள் விடுத்துள்ளார்.

தமிழ் ரசிகர்களின் ரசிப்புத் தன்மையின் உச்சகட்டம் நடிகைகளுக்கு கோயில் கட்டி கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடத்தும் கலாச்சாரம்.

ஏற்கெனவே நடிகை குஷ்புவுக்கு 15 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பே திருச்சிக்குப் பக்கத்தில் கோயில் எழுப்பி கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடத்தி, குஷ்பு சிலை வைத்து பாலாபிஷேகம் பூஜையெல்லாம் செய்து வந்தார்கள்.

அப்போதைக்கு அமைதியாக அதை அனுமதித்த நயன்தாரா, பின்னர் எழுந்த விமர்சனங்களைக் கண்டு, கோயில் வேண்டாம் என்ற முடிவுக்கு வந்துள்ளாராம்.

இதுகுறித்து அவர் வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கை:

ரசிகர்கள் எனக்கு கோவில் கட்டப் போவதாக சில ரசிகர்கள் கூறிவருகிறார்கள். கோவில் என்பது கடவுளுக்கு மட்டுமே கட்டக் கூடியது. சாதாரண மனிதர்களுக்கு கட்டுவது இல்லை.

என் ரசிகர்கள் என் மேல் அளவு கடந்த பிரியம் வைத்து உள்ளனர். அவர்களின் அன்பு எனக்கு போதுமானது. அந்த அன்புக்கு எப்போதும் நான் கட்டுப்படுவேன். எனவே எனக்கு கோவில்கட்ட வேண்டாம் என்று ரசிகர்களைக் கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறேன். தயவு செய்து இந்த முயற்சியை ரசிகர்கள் கைவிட வேண்டும். பூஜை, வழிபாடுகள் எல்லாம் கடவுளுக்காக மட்டுமே நடத்த வேண்டும் என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.

Nayanthara banned by TFPC and Nadigar Sangam!

South India’s top heroine Nayanthara has been banned by Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Nadigar Sangam from acting in any further Tamil movies.

A spokesperson of TFPC says that both the organizations were forced to put a ban on her for refusing to pay back producer and director Lingusamy the signing amount he had paid for his Paiyaa.

The TFPC and Nadigar Sangam have made it clear to its members, the producers not to sign her for any future films. In their statement they have requested the producers association in other languages mainly Telugu and Malayalam to also cooperate with them and not sign Nayantharan for any further films.

Things aren’t all that hunky dory for Nayanthara as her recent tiff with producer-director Lingusamy has reached a flash point.

The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and South Indian Artists Association (SIAA known as Nadigar Sangam) has jointly issued a statement asking producers to refrain from working with the actress.

They say that this extreme step was taken as Nayanthara refused to return the advance amount she had received for Lingusamy’s Paiyya.

A fuming Nayanthara speaking to Sify.com from Hyderabad where she is shooting for her Telugu film with NTR, said: “This is injustice, as I never told Lingusamy that I am opting out of the film. I had received an amount of Rs 20 Lakhs from him as advance for Paiyya and given dates from September 2008”.


Added Nayan: “I waited patiently and he went on changing dates. I did not sign up any film that came to me during this time, as I was committed to his project and there by incurred losses to the tune of few Crores. And finally by mid-December he asked me to come for Photo-shoot and the day before the shoot, he says that I should bring down by salary which was agreed mutually in the contract”

In a male dominated industry, Nayan is fighting a lone battle for survival. Ask anyone actor or production house who have worked with her and they are willing to vouch for her professionalism and commitment to the project. Perhaps she is the only actress in tinsel town who has the guts and grit to fight back for her rights.

Some of the heroes in Kollywood have do not pay back advance taken in crores, and say that they will adjust in the next film! So what’s wrong in Nayanthara refusing to pay back her advance after wasting three months of her precious time sitting at home waiting for the film to start!

Says Nayanthara: “Who is Lingusamy to decide my compensation for wasting my time while I waited for the project to get rolling?” (Lingu has waived Rs 5 Lakhs out of Rs 20 Lakhs paid as advance)

Nayan is honest and upfront about the way she feels: “I never said that I will not work for the film. And then why should I pay back the amount? I asked Nadigar Sangam for help to sort out this matter and now they have also turned against me. Tell me, how many actors have taken an advance and have paid back if the project doesn’t take place? In my case, I am targeted because I am an actress. It is not the 15 Lakhs that matters to me, but the manner in which I was treated that irks me”.

Nayantara is now in the safe zone as the Tamil Film Producers Council and the South India Film Actors Association has issued the green card today on 7th February. She was earlier condemned with a red card by the associations for not returning the advance amount paid to her for 'Paiya'.

Following several controversies, the actress finally returned the amount today to one of the director of Thriupati Bros Film Media Ltd, Subash Chandrabose. After a joint meet, the issue was settled in am amicable manner. The associations held a brief talk and issued a green card for Nayantara withdrawing the ban, letting her act in Tamil movies once again.

Nayantara is in a new dilemma. The actress had tattooed Prabhu Deva’s name on her hands when she was in madly in love with him. This tattoo is causing her all the problems now. Though Nayan wants to get rid of it, she is confused over the ideas her near and dear ones have been giving.

According to sources, some people have advised the actress to change the tattoo by applying some other design to it. But Nayan thinks that it would be smart to have the tattoo removed through plastic surgery.

Nikita Thukural of Kurumbu fame is likely to don as the sex siren Silk Smitha in the Tamil remake of Dirty Picture.
Vidya Balan's role in the Dirty Picture was much acclaimed and gave her many awards and credits for her performance. With the movie being remade in Tamil the makers were trying to rope in Nayantara who is now making a comeback after her break up with Prabhu Deva.
But, sources reveal that Nayantara quoted a whopping sum for her role in the movie and this has made the producers to step back. The amount seems to be the highest ever for a South Indian actress.
With the deal being unfavourable the makers are now on a hunt for the leading lady in Silk Smitha's role. It is widely believed that Nikita Thukural is being considered for the role. However, let's wait untill things get finalized.

நேற்று முன்தினம் சிம்புவின் பிறந்தநாள். அன்று தனது நண்பர்களுக்கு அவர் பார்ட்டி அளித்தார். அந்தப் பார்ட்டியில் நயன்தாராவும் கலந்து கொண்டார்.

விக்ரமுடன் நடிக்க வேண்டும் என்று யார் கேட்டாலும், நயன்தாராவின் பதில் எப்போதுமே 'நோ' தான்.

ஆனந்த் ஷங்கர் இயக்கத்தில் விக்ரம் நடிக்கவிருக்கும் படத்தின் நாயகியாக நடிக்க நயன்தாராவை அணுகினார்கள். அதற்கு நயன்தாரா "நான் சொன்ன வார்த்தையில் எப்போதும் பின் வாங்குவதில்லை. விக்ரமுக்கு ஜோடியாக நடிக்க முடியாது" என்று கூறி அனுப்பிவிட்டார்.

விக்ரம் மீது நயன்தாரா கொண்டுள்ள கோபத்துக்கு ஒரு சம்பவம் தான் காரணம் என்கிறார்கள். என்ன அது?

'கள்வனின் காதலி' படத்தில் எஸ்.ஜே.சூர்யாவுடன் நடிக்க நயன்தாரா தேதிகள் ஒதுக்கி இருந்தார். அப்போது விக்ரமுடன் ஒரு படத்தில் நடிக்க தேதிகள் கேட்டு அணுகினார்கள். அதற்கு நயன்தாரா "இல்லை.. தேதிகள் ஒதுக்கிவிட்டேன். வேண்டுமானால் எஸ்.ஜே.சூர்யாவுடன் நடித்துக் கொண்டே விக்ரமுடன் நடிக்கிறேன்" என்று தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்.

ஆனால், ஒரே நேரத்தில் எஸ்.ஜே.சூர்யா, விக்ரம் இருவருடனும் நாயகியாக நடிப்பதை விக்ரம் படக்குழு விரும்பவில்லை. "இல்லை மேடம்.நீங்க எங்களுக்கு மட்டும் தேதிகள் ஒதுக்கி கொடுங்கள். விக்ரம் எவ்வளவு பெரிய நடிகர், அவருடைய மார்க்கெட் என்னவென்று உங்களுக்கு தெரியுமா?” என்று கேட்டுள்ளார்கள்.

இதனால் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்த நயன்தாரா "இப்போது மட்டுமல்ல.. இனிமேல் எப்போதுமே விக்ரமுடன் நடிக்க மாட்டேன். சின்ன நடிகர், பெரிய நடிகர் என்று எப்போதுமே நான் வித்தியாசம் பார்ப்பதில்லை. ஆனால், நீங்கள் வித்தியாசம் பார்க்கிறீர்கள். எனக்கு இது பிடிக்காது. நான் இப்படிச் சொன்னேன் என்று நீங்கள் விக்ரமிடம் சொன்னாலும் நான் கவலைப்பட மாட்டேன்" என்று கூறி அனுப்பிவிட்டார்.

2015 இன் கனவுக்கன்னி யார்?....சர்வே முடிவு!

2015 முடிவை நெருங்கிவிட்டது. 2015ம் வருடமும் பல நடிகைகளுக்கு அதிர்ஷ்டமாக அமைந்து, சில நடிகைகளுக்கு எதிர்பாராத திருப்பங்களைக் கொடுத்தது. பல புது ஹீரோயின்களையும் தமிழுக்குக் கொண்டு வந்துள்ளது.
