Receiving love letters, and cheesy and sappy mails are a part and parcel of star’s life. On the other hand it feeds the star’s ego. But wouldn’t anyone be startled if a fan went on his knees and proposed a star, that too in the privacy of the green room? Asin encountered the same trauma in the shoots of Alwar.Though these interesting occurrences are quite common in the shoot spots, they will never make to the spotlight.


Well, what are we here for? To bring you all the latest behind the screens, ain’t it?


One fine day during the shoots of her upcoming Alwar, Asin was shocked to encounter a stranger in his knees - in the green room – proposing to her with a rose in his hand. Crewmembers gathered soon after hearing Asin’s shocked screams and managed to pull the man out of the make up room. Before anyone could enquire, the unit members manhandled the stranger. Upon Asin’s request, the stranger was not handed over to the police and the issue was settled.

It was learnt later that he was one of the diehard fans of Asin who hails from Paramakudi and who regularly communicates with the petite star. Asin’s reply to one of the mails with a ‘with love’ tag kindled his interest to the star and he mistook the signature message for love. To reiterate his love, he visited Chennai and managed to sneak into the studios with one of his cameraman friends and eventually hid himself inside the green room to express his love for her.

After caught in his act red-handed, the man was beaten up heavily for the sin of proposing to his favorite star. I am a diehard fan of Asin and this does not change me from loving her, the poor guy was seen murmuring before limping his way out of the studios.

Asin is a perfectionist, a brat with loads of attitude! That’s the tagline which people (read detractors) in the industry have given her. But who cares for rivals bitching in a dog-eat-dog industry.

Asin has worked magic with the ordinary viewers and is clearly at the top. This year, she had just one release Varalaaru which has been declared a super hit by the trade. Added to that, her competitors just cannot match her success ratio in Tamil.

In the last two years Asin has done just six films in Tamil - M.Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi (Super hit), Ullam Ketkume (Hit), Ghajini (Blockbuster), Majaa (Flop), Sivakasi (Super Hit) and Varalaaru (Super Hit). Out of six films, she had one blockbuster; three super hits a, one hit and a flop!

Asin’s strike rate is awesome-83 percent. No other heroine in Tamil cinema has dished out so many hits in recent times. Added to that, she has managed a great mix where her roles are concerned. In Tamil commercial cinema where heroines are there just for songs and glamour, Asin has gone beyond the script. She has been able to carve out something different in her roles that she has etched out so far.

She takes personal care about her make-up, and costumes that appeal to family audiences. Her comedy timing, dancing and expressions are inimitable. The bottom line is that Asin is one girl who is full of beans and a positive attitude to boast. 2007 is going to be her real test as she has three big films- Aalwar with Ajit, Pokiri with Vijay and Dashaavtar with Kamal Hassan. And with her strike rate, she is sure to go places.

Moviebuzz caught up with Asin who was relaxing at home after a hectic days shoot. Says Asin with her trademark smile: “For the last two months I had no time for rest. I am working round the clock shooting during days and dubbing during nights. But the funny thing is that I enjoy it thoroughly, as the units that I am working with, are excellent.” She also added that she is trying to find time to watch Dhoom-2 on the big screen. Says Asin: “I want to see the film as Nirav Shah my Pokiri cameraman is said to have done an amazing job in the film.”

Asin, the heart throb of Tamil cinema created a minor injury scare when a nail pierced through her heel. It happened while she was shooting for Prabhu Deva directed Pokiri on Wednesday (6th Dec) evening at AVM studio.

Asin and Vijay were completing the last bit of a fast folk number (a Kuthu patu), which had heavy steps. Dinesh Master, the choreographer under the supervision of Prabhu Deva was shooting the song for the last six days.

Asin and Vijay along with 50 dancers were doing this fast number, when the incident took place. Asin was dancing barefoot when a small nail on the sets pierced her heel. As she cried out in pain, all unit members rushed to her and shooting was stopped.

Asin was given first aid immediately. Vijay and Prabhu Deva were willing to give her some time, so that she can take rest. But Asin the professional that she is, refused to stop the shoot and 10 minutes later was back on the sets doing the difficult steps with ease and smile on her face.

After the pack-up, on the advice of her mother Dr Celine, Asin went to a hospital near by and took a Tetanus injection. From there she went straight to the dubbing studio and completed her dubbing work for Aalwar. Well, Asin is truly what we call the complete professional!

Asin’s films suffered a minor setback owing to a minor shoot spot injury that happened on the sets of Pokkiri. Asin is full of activity these days – thanks to the shooting of her movies back to back. While shooting for Pokkiri, Asin – under the instruction of Prabhu Deva – danced without her shoes on for a dance sequence.

While filming the dance sequence with Vijay, an iron nail fastened in the wooden planks of the set pierced her foot making the lady scream with pain.

Asin’s father who was in the sets immediately moved her to the hospital where she was given first aid. It is reported that the doctors advised her not to dance for 10 days and to take rest. Sources in the Pokkiri sets also stated that Asin will only arrive for dubbing and the dance sequence is been rescheduled. Pokkiri will now wait for Asin’s return.

Asin’s films suffered a minor setback owing to a minor shoot spot injury that happened on the sets of Pokkiri. Asin is full of activity these days – thanks to the shooting of her movies back to back. While shooting for Pokkiri, Asin – under the instruction of Prabhu Deva – danced without her shoes on for a dance sequence.

While filming the dance sequence with Vijay, an iron nail fastened in the wooden planks of the set pierced her foot making the lady scream with pain.

Asin’s father who was in the sets immediately moved her to the hospital where she was given first aid. It is reported that the doctors advised her not to dance for 10 days and to take rest. Sources in the Pokkiri sets also stated that Asin will only arrive for dubbing and the dance sequence is been rescheduled. Pokkiri will now wait for Asin’s return.

Asin didn't look all that great in M.Kumaran and in Ullam Ketkume...in M.Kumaran she had so many pimples...not that much makeup...

in Ullam Ketkume, she has too much makeup and looked like an auntie to Shaam

somewhere along the way, Ghajini (def)...she found the right balance and now she looks absolutely beautiful...she also most some weight from the Ullam Ketkume time...which is good. :wink:
