Found out about this old Spanish song from a friend who is a fan of the artist Frida Kahlo...her art to me is still too much out there...but the song "La Llorana" (the weeping woman) is beautiful...
The version I have here is sung by Chavela Vargas and it has many versions being an old folk song...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB7aY5NDuUo
Wiki Article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Llorona
I will share one version...because the lyrics are so poetic and melancholy:
They all call me the black one, Weeping Woman,
The black one but the loving one,
They all call me the black one, Weeping Woman,
The Black One but the loving one,
I am like the green chili, Weeping Woman
Spicy but delicious,
I am like the green chili, Weeping Woman,
Spicy but delicious,
You were coming out of the temple one day, Weeping Woman,
When by passing by you caught my attention,
You were coming out of the temple one day, Weeping Woman,
When by passing by you caught my attention,
Beautiful you were,
The Virgin I thought I saw,
You say I have no pain, because you never see me cry,
There are the dead who do not cry,
and their sorrow is much greater than mine,
There by me, Weeping Woman, Weeping Woman, Weeping Woman, Take me to the river,
Cover me in your shawl because I am dying of coldness
Because I love you, you want for me to love you more,
I have already given you my life, Weeping Woman,
What else do you want?

Today is Sir George Fredrick Handel's birthday, born this day in 1685. Famous German/British(Born German, but moved to London) composer. Another coincidence is he was born the same year Sebastian Bach was born, infact one month older to Bach.
Since Bach and Handel were composers of same late Boroque era and Bach was known for his contrapuntal styles of composition, Handel tried to avoid contrapuntal styles in his composition, to stay unique. His uniqueness and genius lies in the dramatic and lyrical beauty. He can improvise a theme a lot around a single character (mainly operas). This part of his style had created a heavy influence for even Mozart and Haydn when creating operas and oratarios. Even though he has composed more operas and oratarios, he is mainly known for two best compositions, 'Messiah' (oratario) and 'Water Music' (orchestral movements).
Messiah (Overture, Conducted by Dr. Jamie Spillane, the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra). This is just overture, more on Messiah on internet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm61khbqNPE
Water music has three suites (Suite#1 in F Major, Suite#2 in D Major and Suite#3 in G Major). First suite has 11 movements (songs if we can call), 2nd and 3rd has 5 movements each.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8slQkKlSKkI (first 2 movements in suite#1, F Major)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyakQNO1L7s&feature=watch_response (2nd movement in suite2, D Major, hornpipe)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMoTI6sXQXQ&feature=related (suite#3 in G major)
More about this on youtube.
'Water Music' was played on Thames river by the request from his friend Sir King George I for his friends and families.
Happy birthday to Handel!

Carmina Burana ~ O Fortuna | Carl Orff ~ André Rieu
There's something about this compositon that tugs at your heartstrings.
In 1935–36, "O Fortuna" was set to music by the German composer Carl Orff for his twenty-
four-movement cantata Carmina Burana. The composition appears in numerous films and
television commercials and has become a staple in popular culture, setting the mood for
dramatic or cataclysmic situations. For instance, it is used to portray the torment of Jim
Morrison's drug addiction in the film The Doors.

"Imagine" is a song written and performed by the English musician John Lennon. The best-selling single of his solo career, its lyrics encourage the listener to imagine a world at peace, without the divisiveness and barriers of borders, religions and nationalities, and to consider the possibility that the focus of humanity should be living a life unattached to material possessions.
BMI named "Imagine" one of the 100 most-performed songs of the 20th century. The song ranked number 30 on the Recording Industry Association of America's list of the 365 Songs of the Century bearing the most historical significance. It earned a Grammy Hall of Fame Award and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. More than 140 artists have recorded cover versions of "Imagine", including Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Joan Baez, Elton John, and Diana Ross.

"Take On Me" by a-ha (41 million views)
"Take on Me" is a song by the Norwegian synthpop band A-ha. Written by the band members, the song was produced by Alan Tarney for the group's first studio album Hunting High and Low, released in 1985. The song combines synthpop with a varied instrumentation that includes acoustic guitars, keyboards, and drums.
The original "Take on Me" was recorded in 1984, and took three releases to chart in the United Kingdom, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart in November 1985. In the United States, the song reached the top position of the Billboard Hot 100 in October 1985, due in no small part to the wide exposure of its memorable and cutting-edge music video on MTV, directed by Steve Barron. The video features the band in a pencil-sketch animation method called rotoscoping, combined with live action. The video won six awards, and was nominated for two others at the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards.
This music video features lead singer Morten Harket and actress Bunty Bailey.

This is for Ramky and the other youngsters of the Forum:
Englebert Humperdinck singing "love will set you free...". This song was recorded by him at the age of 77,
and was released on March 19, 2012 as United Kingdom's entry at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Arnold George Dorsey was born in Madras (Chennai) on May 2, 1936, to a British father and a German mother.
He grew up in England, and started his music career in the late 1950s. He took the stage name Englebert Humperdinck
(after the 19th century German classical composer), and became one of the most popular crooners of those days.
Some of his popular songs are: "after the lovin...", "help me make it through the night...", "I believe..." and "cant take my eyes off you..."
Here is Englebert live at the Royal Albert Hall in London, backed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra:

"From gospel and early R&B (Rhythm & Blues) to soul and jazz to blues and straight-up pop, Lou Rawls was a
consummate master of African-American vocal music whose versatility helped him adapt to the changing
musical times over and over again while always remaining unmistakably himself. Blessed with a four-octave
vocal range, Rawls’ smooth, classy elegance permeated nearly everything he sang. He made his name as a
crooner, first by singing jazz standards, then moving on to soul in the mid-'60s, and capped the most commercial
phase of his career with a productive stint at Philadelphia International during the latter half of the '70s. Even after
his days as a chart presence were over, Rawls remained a highly visible figure on the American cultural landscape,
pursuing an acting and voice-over career in addition to his continued concert appearances, and doing
extensive charity work."
Here is one of Rawls’ most popular songs…

Rocky III (1982) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_III#Soundtrack) - I was studying in college when this film was released, and many pleasant memories of my college life are intertwined with the music of this movie. Rocky III is a 1982 American film that is the third installment in the Rocky film series. It is written and directed by and stars Sylvester Stallone as the title character, with Carl Weathers as former boxing rival Apollo Creed, Burgess Meredith as Rocky's trainer Mickey, and Talia Shire as Rocky's wife, Adrian.
The film's theme song "Eye of the Tiger", was written by the group Survivor at the request of Stallone, and became a smash hit single, topping the US Billboard music charts and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.

won the Oscar Award for Best Original Score; with Isaac Hayes becoming the first African American to win
that honour, or any Academy Award in a non-acting category. He was also the first recipient of the Oscar

America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_%28band%29) is an English-American folk rock band formed in London in 1970 which originally consisted of Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek. The three members were barely out of their teens when they became a musical sensation in 1972, scoring No. 1 hits and winning a Grammy for best new musical artist. Their recording success stretched throughout the 1970s; some of the band's best known songs are "A Horse with No Name", "Sister Golden Hair" (both of which reached No. 1), "Ventura Highway", "Tin Man", "Daisy Jane", and "Lonely People". George Martin produced seven of their albums.
Peek left the group in 1977 to pursue a solo career, but Beckley and Bunnell returned to the top 10 as a duo with "You Can Do Magic" in 1982. As of at least 2009, America performs over 100 shows per year.

If you see your brother standin' by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he sowed
And if you see your sister fallin' by the way
Why don't you stop and say
You're goin' the wrong way
But you've got to try a little kindness
Just show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you'll try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of the narrow minded people
On the narrow minded streets
And don't you walk around the town and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Is goin' to help someone along life's way
But you've got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you'll try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of the narrow minded people

Tom Jones live at London's Hammersmith Odeon, 1989
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcw23OLgV3o
Sir Thomas John Woodward, OBE, known by his stage name Tom Jones, is a Welsh singer.
Since the mid 1960s, Jones has sung many styles of popular music – pop, rock, R&B,
show tunes, country, dance, soul and gospel – and sold over 100 million records.
"It's Not Unusual" is a song written by Les Reed and Gordon Mills, first recorded by a
then-unknown Tom Jones, after having first been offered to Sandie Shaw. Jones
recorded what was intended to be a demo for Shaw, but when she heard it, she was
so impressed with Jones' delivery that she declined the song and recommended
that Jones release it himself. The record was the second Decca single Jones released,
reaching number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1965. It was also the first hit for Jones
in the US, peaking at No. 10 in May of that year. The single was released in the US on
the Parrot label and also reached #3 on Billboard's easy listening chart. The BBC initially
refused to play the song because of Jones’ sexy image, but it was played by UK pirate radio.
Jones would perform the song several times on The Ed Sullivan Show in the US,
first on 2 May 1965, then again on 13 June 1965. He would sing the song again on the show
when he returned on 21 April 1968.
Jones later used this song as the theme for his late 1960s-early 1970s television
musical variety series This Is Tom Jones. It has since become Jones' signature song.

The lyrics of "It's not unusual...:
It's not unusual to be loved by anyone
It's not unusual to have fun with anyone
but when I see you hanging about with anyone
It's not unusual to see me cry
oh I wanna' di
It's not unusual to go out at any time
but when I see you out and about it's such a crime
if you should ever want to be loved by anyone
It's not unusual it happens every day
no matter what you say
you find it happens all the time
love will never do what you want it to
why can't this crazy love be mine
It's not unusual to be mad with anyone
It's not unusual to be sad with anyone
but if I ever find that you've changed at anytime
it's not unusual to find out that I'm in love with you
whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh...

People everywhere
A sense of expectation hanging in the air
Giving out a spark
Across the room your eyes are glowing in the dark
And here we go again, we know the start, we know the end
Masters of the scene
We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more
You know what I mean
Voulez-vous ah-ha
Take it now or leave it ah-ha
Now is all we get ah-ha
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous ah-ha
Ain't no big decision ah-ha
You know what to do ah-ha
La question c'est voulez-vous
Voulez-vous
I know what you think
"The girl means business so I'll offer her a drink"
Feeling mighty proud
I see you leave your table
Pushing through the crowd
I'm really glad you came
You know the rules, you know the game
Master of the scene
We've done it all before
And now we're back to get some more
You know what I mean
Voulez-vous ah-ha
Take it now or leave it ah-ha
Now is all we get ah-ha
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous ah-ha
Ain't no big decision ah-ha
You know what to do ah-ha
La question c'est voulez-vous
And here we go again
We know the start, we know the end
Masters of the scene
We've done it all before
And now we're back to get some more
You know what I mean
Voulez-vous ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha
Voulez-vous ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha
Voulez-vous ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha
Voulez-vous ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha

"Does your mother know that you're out...?"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkL7Fkigfn8
You're so hot, teasing me
So you're blue but I can't take a chance on a chick like you
That's something I couldn't do
There's that look in your eyes
I can read in your face that your feelings are driving you wild
Ah, but girl you're only a child
Well I can dance with you honey
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out?
And I can chat with you baby
Flirt a little maybe
Does your mother know that you're out?
Take it easy (take it easy)
Better slow down girl
That's no way to go
Does your mother know?
Take it easy (take it easy)
Try to cool it girl
Take it nice and slow
Does your mother know?
I can see what you want
But you seem pretty young to be searching for that kind of fun
So maybe I'm not the one
Now you're so cute, I like your style
And I know what you mean when you give me a flash of that smile (smile)
But girl you're only a child
Well I can dance with you honey
If you think it's funny
Does your mother know that you're out?
And I can chat with you baby
Flirt a little maybe
Does your mother know that you're out?
Take it easy (take it easy)
Better slow down girl
That's no way to go
Does your mother know?
Take it easy (take it easy)
Try to cool it girl
Take it nice and slow
Does your mother know?
Well I can dance with you honey

Does your mother know that you're out?

"There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree..."
- A song by Dave Mason
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCpQLZs2Eh8
Been away, haven't seen you in a while
How've you been, have you changed your style?
And do you think that we've grown up differently?
Don't seem the same, seems you've lost your feel for me
So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh-oh-ho
I'm going back to a place that's far away
How bout you, have you got a place to stay?
Why should I care when I'm just trying to get along?
We were friends, but now it's the end of our love song
So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh-oh-ho
So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree
Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh, oh-oh-ho

Donald Trump has been sworn in as the new President of the United States (POTUS). There was a time when I hated this man with a passion because he at that time represented to me what was wrong with this world; a rich and pompous idiotic showman who did not know what was really going on in the real world around him! To my own great surprise, I realized later how he and I had so much in common! He always said what he felt about everything, without thinking whether or not it was 'politically correct'! He ultimately proved the political and journalistic 'elite' and 'experts' look like the real stupid idiots that they really are when it came to what the people really felt and really wanted! Congratulations and Good Luck to Donald Trump! :)
Here is the theme song from President Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony, Donald and Melania dancing to "I did it my way..."! The Americans always call this a Frank Sinatra song; but it was originally written and composed by Canadian Paul Anka, Here it is...
And now, the end is near;
So I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and every highway;
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.
I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
May I say - not in a shy way,
"Oh no, oh no not me,
I did it my way".
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say all the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
I like this song very much because it is very personal to me; I always did it 'my way'! :)

I’ll meet you where the sky is torn
I’ll meet you in the air
I’ll meet you before the world was born
and we had not a care
This is an invitation to a high location
For someone who wants to belong
This is a meditation on your radio station
If you like it you can sing along
Ahimsa
Ahimsa
Ahimsa
Ahimsa
I’ll meet you where there is no weeping
Your tears are not a stream
I’ll meet you where there is no sleeping
where we wake up to dream
This is an invitation to a high location
For someone who wants to belong
This is a meditation on your radio station
If you like it you can sing along
Ahimsa
Ahimsa
Ahimsa

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace
You may say
I'm a dreamer
but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one...
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world
You may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
