no way. His stories have had more depth & variety.
BR was more in the rustic mould.

i have this in my mind for long time, which I would like to share.
In most of KB's movie there is a stupid concept given with different styles.
A married man. His wife will love/marry someone else.
Or the otherway round. Always the hero or heroine will have more affairs and a confusion whom to choose.
Example
aval oru thodargathai (sujatha's lover will marry her sis. Kalam will love sujatha and marry her sis)
nizhal nijamagiradhu (shoba will love sarath and marry another guy)
pudhu pudhu arthangal(raghu leaves his wife geetha and loves another girl and she leves her husband and loves raghu)
madhavan and simran movie - i forgot the name. Both will marry divorce and decide to marry different persons
sindhu bairavi - sivakumar / sulakshana / suhasini
iru kodugal - 2 wife subject
Take any movie and it will have something similar. Looks like KB can hardly think of any other subject.

all the 100 are not directed.... some films just story, screenplay etc.

not like that. Story & screenplay - hardly 1 or 2.

Think of few more pictures, everything sounds similar
Again, Kalki is another film with similarity.
Even the serial kai alavu manasu is similar.
If you think of KB's movies you can see the trend.

what abt achamillai achamillai, thanneer thanner, agni satchi & so many others?
U are generalising by pointing out a handful of films.
KB has directed on a wide range of issues.

Sure, accepted he is a great director. His thillu mullu is quite enjoyable no double.
But the only irritation is the multiple wife/husband/lover similarity in many movies
The next addition i would like to add is aboorva ragangal.
Move is an excellent one. I am only talking about the general theme. There are many more movies in this list. But not able to remember. You can also think.

I'm a big fan of BR movies most of them and few KB movies!
KB shows maturity in his directing skills. You can watch it any time. He has experimented with different subjects.
Though Bharathiraja comes in par with KB, some of the movies with newcomers arent so good. If you watch his old movies now, you'll notice that. KangaLaal kaithu sei for example!
Same with TR movies (Mythil ennai kaathali and before). You appreciated those movies then... But now...?

watched avargal. The plot and the narration was good (pls excuse me, am new to old films). Kamal's character was very real and I could relate it with most of my friends. the scene where kamal's sweet limes are compared with the stacked apples was touching. hats off KB.
goof: kamal as a ventriloquist could have played it more convincingly by not keeping his mouth tightly sealed while junior speaks... it is very difficult, almost impossible to perform that way.
PS: I couldnt help but compare Balachander & Sujatha with Ram gopal varma & Urmila .

Madhavan's film is Paarthale Paravasam
It was BR who first took tamil cinema outside the set.
Balachandar's films like Aboorva Raagangal, Moonru Mudichchu(Rajini will target Sridevi and finally she becomes his step mother), Vaaname Ellai (VMC Haneefa and Y.Vijaya relationship)will predict some relationships which we can't even imagine in our day to day life.
In one film, Aval Oru Thodarkathai I beleive, unknowingly both mother and daughter will love the same man.

as far as human relationships is concerned, no one can beat KB.
BR's films had that rustic feel but did not go far beyond that.
In KK, the love shown between satyaraj & rekha is ambiguous.
Kodi parakathu was neither a rajini film nor a BR film.
