Director Krishna - From love to action
IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, September 19, 2006]
Sillunu Oru Kaadhal director Krishna is busy gearing up for his next, which he promises would be an action-filled entertainer.
Asked on the mixed reviews for his film which features big names like Suriya, Jyothika, Bhoomika and A R Rahman, Krishna, an one-time associate of Gowtham menon, says, 'I am not worried about the crictism. Even Manirathinam was back lashed after Mouna Ragam. I am really happy now. In India, the bond shared between a husband and wife is unique. Hence I wanted to portray that in my maiden attempt on the screen'.
On working with Suriya and Jothika, he says, it was challenging. 'When I worked as an associate to Gowtham Menon in Khaakha Khaakha, I had the opportunity to narrate the story of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal to Suriya. After almost a year, I was called by him to do the movie. Working with a group of talented artistes made my job easy and smooth'.
My movie was based on two real- life incidents that I came across. Even my mentor Gowtham appreciated my attempt. I am now hoping for a better fortune, he added.

in Kodambakkam and I love ARR. Most of Kamal admirers i know only felt bad that ARR is out of 10Vatharam.

i think the bad luck which haunts ARR in terms of selecting right movies would erode soon. Shankar, Selvaraghavan, Manirathnam and A.R. Murugadoss are directors with a good music sense and they can bring out the best from the genius. So we need'nt worry about that.

Maddy,
I was once a hardcore IR fan. But nowadays, I like songs from all MDs that please my ears. Earlier I had a grudge against Non-IR compositions, but not any more.
Coming to SOK, I never said I hated the film. It was very good after seeing all the negative publicities. That apart, the second half was a drag to the core. When you have that kind of second half leading to a slow climax, you can't expect the film to be a blockbluster.

[tscii:ecbf24d992]Asin &Trisha have the last laugh!
By Moviebuzz | Tuesday, 26 September , 2006, 15:32
The failure of Sillunu Oru Kadhal at the Tamilnadu box-office has proved that Asin and Trisha were right in their decision to say “No” to Surya and his home banner ‘Green Studio’!
Remember that Asin had told Sify.com in her interview immediately after she decided to back out from the project that her “character was weak”.
When Asin read the script of Krishna’s Sillunu Oru Kadhal, she was not interested to play second fiddle to Jyothika and she politely refused to be a part of the film. This was a major blow to Surya and their next option was Trisha.
Later on the sets of the song picturisation in Jordon for Aaru, Surya had asked Trisha to take this “lifetime” role, which the smart actress refused. Trisha felt that it was not wise to take up this role as she would be sidelined by Surya- Jyothika team even from posters and publicity of the film.
In fact no top heroine was willing to take up this role which they all felt will be a given a raw deal by the makers as it is Surya’s home production. Later, ‘Studio Green’ roped in Bhoomika from Mumbai to play Aishwarya the weak link in the film.
The actress agreed to do the film for an exorbitant salary as she was out-of-work. And the actress was never seen for any promotion, preview or even to attend Surya-Jo wedding in Chennai!
Now Asin and Trisha are having the last laugh as they were not a part of Sillunu Oru Kadhal, which was not able to live up to the huge hype and hoopla surrounding it.

[tscii:647adcff91]Surya and Jyothika are back after their honeymoon in Italy. It was a well deserved holiday for the couple after the hectic one-month, in which Sillunu Oru Kadhal produced by their home banner released and their “big wedding”. On arrival, Surya gave his first ever interview since marriage. He spoke to Moviebuzz in this exclusive interview
What is your current state of mind?
I am a very happy and relaxed. Me and Jo, we had a great time in Europe. And now I am getting back to work.
The buzz on SOK is not encouraging. Please comment?
I have great respect for Sify.com but you have reported in Chennai box-office that my film is a flop. I disagree to it as SOK is a hit especially in A centres and overseas. Do you know that it will break my Ghajini record at Sathyam theatre in Chennai? In Coimbatore, the film is doing extremely well and overseas people simply love it.
So you mean to say that SOK is a hit?
I can confidently say that none of my distributors will lose money. It is doing better business in cities than B and C stations. The masses love my Aaru and Mayaavi which were masala entertainers.
There has been criticism about Bhoomika’s character which critics say was the weakest link in the film?
I beg to differ. On the contrary, I think that Aishwarya character is one of the biggest strengths in the film. Bhoomika who played the role had told a Tamil weekly that it is one of her career best roles. And everyone found her in the campus scenes to be strikingly sweet and subdued.
But why did top actors Asin and Trisha refused to do that role?
I don’t want to rake up old issues. Asin had initially agreed to do the film and my producer, director and cameraman had met her in her house at Kochi and given her a huge advance. Later she backed out saying that the script has to be re-written. Will any self respecting director change his script? I’m sure that the Aishu character in SOK is much better than what Asin did in Majaa or Sivakasi.
Let’s not talk about it anymore, as bygones are bygones. I feel that Bhoomika has done an outstanding performance as Aishu. And what Sify.com reported about Trisha and Asin having the last laugh sounds ridiculous to me!
Tell us why Vikram was not invited for your wedding?
It was not intentional…. we had even missed out Vijaykanth sir whom I respect a lot. In fact we had invited Vikram and his family personally for my sister’s wedding, but they never turned up or even bothered to call up.
But Vikram was the actor who gave you equal footage in his Pitamagan?
(Smiles)… Pitamagan was directed by my guru Bala sir and it was he, who insisted that my role should not be tampered with. I owe everything only to Bala sir and nobody else.
What are your future projects?
I have thrown myself back to work which is my passion. I will be doing simultaneously Gautham’s new thriller with Deepika Padgonkar and Vishnuvardhan’s Sarvam with a new girl.
How is Jo? How has she adjusted to being a housewife?
She is the best thing that has happened to me. (Smiles) Like what I said in SOK- I am the happiest man in the world. For time being, Jo will not be doing any films.[/tscii:647adcff91]

[tscii:7df4015055]Rahman’s exuberant work proved futile in SOK
This year is just not Rahman’s year. We did not mean to be rude but there is no better way to express it though. Despite his brilliant efforts, the year’s much-hyped Surya – Jyothika starrer SOK only managed to register average collections all over. While this could well be termed that Rahman’s magic did not work out with the movie, Rahman’s work was exceptional in SOK.
The songs are chartbusters and are here to stay for months together on top of the charts. His Newyork Nagaram and Munbe Vaa are no lesser than masterpieces that showcase his unparallel musical excellence. The background score too was outstanding and has blended well with the movie.
Rahman has the mega movie Sivaji in his kitty up next and the combination of Shankar and Rahman has always generated smash hits with movies like Kadhalan, Gentleman, Indian, Mudhalvan, and Boys. To be precise, Shankar’s career spanned around Rahman and his music played an imperative role in the success of Shankar’s films.
It is high time now for Rahman to recreate his musical spell with Sivaji. Let us hope that Sivaji will bring back the monster talent back to the Tamil movies.

Why then Aishu's character was made to look like an extension of 'kalpana' of ghajini ?!?! It looked very much like bhoomika was asked to ape Asin especially in the scenes where surya calls her up at home. [/tscii:cdd6079324]

http://www.behindwoods.com/tamil-movie-news/sep-06-04/28-09-06-ar-rahman.html[/tscii:ff9a405188]Of course this is not the year of thalaivar. HJ with his mediocre music talent has been able to give a blockbuster like VV. Even last year he gave Anniyan And Ghajini. But our own Thalai has been giving some flops like AE,SOK, etc, inspite of the fact that these films had some excellent songs and BGM. Even Sachin tendulkar has gone through some worst calender years. I believe the same has happened with ARR also. Thanks to RDB, ARRfans had some reasons to cheer.
If ARR has to be in his winning ways, he can be more selective with the movies he's going to score music. Remember, one excellent hit from ARR (both musically and commercially) can turn the tables.

And another thing, Harris Jeyaraj can give how many Hits he wants to and he can break all records but we all know that A.R.Rahman is composing the Music for Sivaji. Sivaji audio will break all records 100000% sure !!! If rajini really sings a song in Sivaji than it will create history for ever.

Hi...Watched SOK yesterday at Satyam..The theatre was full..It was a nice movie..The uproar that arose for ARR's name in the titles and during the New York Nagaram song was really amazing..Wat an applause.. Though some of the scenes-surya hitting bhoomika with the football and when he goes about warning the guy who teaches bhoomika to ride the scooter and maaricham bit were clipped off,I think the movie was very fine..ARR was a great asset to the movie in the form of BGM's..It actually fitted the movie frame by frame..Though the rerecording was loud in action sequences, it was effective..But not to deny the fact that the audience were making noise towards the climax and begging the movie to end..Particularly I was able to hear many saying tat surya spoke like sivakumar in the movie..His voice strangely was very much like sivakumar..
Its a good movie..Its a must watch..

if u ask me...its not a good time to experiment anymore...ARR has lost his fame in the masses...though we can come here & claim audio sales r unbeatable etc etc...but its fact ARR songs after mayilirage hasnt reach the most lower form of fans....[neutral]... i put Innisai Chorus as my callertune and my indian frens who call me will ask me...what song is tat?? and for them in SOK only 2 or 1 song is good...[ munbe va & kummi adi]...wherelese they find VV as a complete album....thats the fact we need to face now...all we need now is the typical ARR those days just to get his place back....its not tough...but ARR isnt doing it....thats the main problem...anywayz,lets wish the best for ARR in his experimental in SHIVAJI....
U r cent percent right. ARR needs to stop this experimentation thing for a while atleast in tamil.
yup man...i cant take it when ARR masterpiece goes unnoticed....esp like Godfather and previous KV .... even SOK is not very popular with the C class fans....and i noticed SOK songs doesnt get requested in Sun Music....something really sad....hope ARR will get these messages...just stop experimenting for tamil for like a year...that would be enough i think....

The experimentation is a big part of what makes ARR's music unique. You can't ask him to give just average songs.

really agree on this one especially about KV (really sickens me :argh: ). The people who requests songs in Sun Music are people in B n C centre's (most of them) who preffered listening to DANDANAKA songs, but GF is yet to release, so we've just have to keep our finger's crossed...........

Not sure about the film but Munbe Vaa is a rage in Singapore here. All the youngsters are constantly playing it in their ipods and now in radios. I think Dinesh might have to update us about its popularity in Malaysia.
Have got to agree with Dragun there, ARR is no more a MD content with commercial sales(successful). He is already approaching the IR style of becoming a full fledged composer in non filmi as well. While IR explores the facet of WCM, ARR can explore the facet of electronica(keyboard usage) in world music.

Though it is not good to compare them music wise, film-wise the recent hit rate seems to be:
HJ - Vettaiyaadu Vilayadu (big hit)
YSR - Thimir (hit)
VS - Em Magan (On the verge of a hit with collections picking up)
ARR - SEOK (Flop, according to Sify and a hit according to Suriya and all ARR fans, am not sure here).

Ya dinesh, I also thought that SOK was a flop because of all the bad reviews from media. But in reality it is a huge hit, in Canada its doing awesome. I watched the movie once in theatre, and 3 more times on DVD on the same day. ARR's music is the strongest glue in the world. WHile the movie was good enough to make me watch it twice, the music was good enough to keep me going. I can still watch it because of the music. The movie is a really good one. Must watch!!!

FROM CINESOUTH
All these days, it was difficult for producers to make films. Now it is difficult even to release films.
Last year,'Anniyan'was to be released for the Tamil New Year. But no proper theatres were available, so release was postponed.'Chandramukhi,''Mumbai X-press'and'Sachein'alone got released.
When such was the situation for just 4 films, this Diwali about a dozen films are waiting for release. Simbu's'Vallavan,'Jananathan's'E,'Arya film'Auto,'Saran's'Vattaram,'Sarath Kumar's'Thalaimagan,'Vasanthabalan's'Veyil,'Ajith' s'Varalaaru,'are a few of the films in line.
That apart, there are low budget films. More importantly, Kamal's'Vettaiyaadu Vilayadu,'Surya's'Sillunu Oru Kaadhal'and Bharath's'Em Magan'are still running very well and getting good gate collection.
This has resulted in a shortage of theatres for the Diwali releases. So it could well be that many of these films will be released only after Diwali. But this will be known only in due course.
The feast is ready, people are ready, but venue is not!
so... guysss and galllssss

A.R. Rahman reclaims Tamil audio crown
Chennai, Sep 19 (IANS) Composer A.R. Rahman's new Tamil album "Jillunu Oru Kaadhal" continues to be a rage, but the film is turning out to be a major disappointment at the box office.
The top five Tamil albums are:
1. "Jillunu Oru Kaadhal" - Music: A.R. Rahman. Be it radio or television, the title track of the film and "Munbe Vaa", a melody by Shreya Ghosal and Naresh Iyer, are huge draws everywhere.
2. "Vettayadu Vilayadu" - Music: Harris Jayaraj. The songs are doing extremely well, especially "Partha muthal" by Unni Menon and Bombay Jayashri.
3. "Vallavan" - Music Yuvan Shankar Raja. "Loose penne" sung by Silambarasan and Blaze is very much in demand.
4. "Something Something Unakkum Enakkum" - Music: Devisri Prasad. The film's success has got a lot to do with the album's popularity. All the songs are in demand with "Maane mane" in the lead.
5. "Thimiru" - Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja. "Maana Madhurai" sung by Shankar Mahadevan is very popular all over Tamil Nadu.

Repeatedly humming ("Silly"anathu Krishna Kadhal)after watching it. The flashback idea of NYN is good but the overdose of left-right slideshow presentation irritates to the core. The romantic-duet Munbe-Vaa for the teens had been transformed to a 35-40 aged on screen... :angry2: ARR's BGM: I liked "yeh machan vaan machan rap" & its very innovative. Fight scenese were noisy. Is that the same RDB-BGM used when jothinka flips over Surya's diary? Thankyou ARM for Sanjay Ramasamy's character & personality! :)

Tamil Cinema - A good season
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, October 05, 2006]
It all happens in a torrent for the Tamil film industry. It maybe good or bad, things come in a heap.
This season it has been one of good things.
It is some time since Tamil cinema saw so many hits in one single stretch.
But the times are positive now, or so it seems.
Just look at the offerings that we had over the last two months or so.
Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, Unakkum, Enakkum, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, Em Magan, Sillunnu Oru Kaadhal, Thimuru, Perarasu.
All of them have been classified big blockbusters and have emerged hugely successful.
Let the good run continue.

"Munbe vaa" has a haunting quality about it. I won't be surprised if Shreya gets awarded for her rendition. The starting line reminds me of on old IR song "Then pandi thamizhe". The violins follow the lead melody for most part of the song drowning the voices. why is that so?

second time i liked the movie better than the first time i watched it... ARR bgm was def good esp in climax scenes.... nowhere in the range of IR's mounaragam bgm or ARR's own Kannathil Muthamittal BGM but def was way better than other films currently

Chennai, Oct 17 (IANS) No new album could topple A.R. Rahman from the
top position. None of the new albums of Diwali releases could match
Rahman's "Chillunu Oru Kadhal", though the film is a big flop.
The top five Tamil albums are:

3. "Vallavan" - Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja. "Loose penne" sung by
Silambarasan and Blaze is rocking the charts.
4. "E" - Music: Srikant Deva. "Theepori parakum" sung by Tipu and
chorus may be like many other Hana songs but the lyrics have life in them.

I firmly believe that Kummi Adi song was not effectively picturised. It deserves to be a chartbuster but was let down by the below average picturisation. No problems with the cinematography though. Error was with the direction. Making TV artistes dance for the song was suicidal. I pretty well know that no newly wed couple wud be asked to wander on the roads just minutes after the marriage. No nativity in the song too. I also feel that Munbae vaa and new york nagaram, if picturised by a seasoned director, wud have become sensational hits.

Scale, Water songs were released a long time back.
At that time, on first listening I couldnt find any song that took me in completely. I also didnt put in an effort to listen to them again, I must admit. So maybe one of these days I'll revist the songs. They were definitely different from the usual stuff from what I remember.

As expected SOK has been lifted from all the theatres after the Diwali releases had hit the theatres. Two great numbers and excellent BGM from ARR alone was not sufficient to make the movie a hit. However Surya's maiden home production did'nt bite the dust, thanx to the CM's new taxation policy..
Atleast from now onwards ARR shud be more selective with his films. The success of the films can carry his music to new heights which is evident from the response that Varalaaru songs are getting now. In all the tea shops, i can hear Innisai song right now. People have forgotten 'paartha mudhal naalae..", thanx to ARR..

But SOK was a HIT. Not big hit and not a flop so there was nothing wrong by selecting this movie. As the SOK soundtrack could be counted as the comeback album of A.R.Rahman. The best is that Varalaaru released right after SOK so that the fans get satisfied that ARR is back.

Chennai, Oct 31 (IANS) Several new albums have arrived in the last couple of weeks, but none has been able to topple A.R. Rahman's "Chillunu Oru Kadhal" from the top position.
The top five Tamil albums are:
1. "Chillunu Oru Kadhal" - Music: A.R. Rahman. The film is a huge flop and has been forgotten, but the album is still a rage.
2. "Vallavan" - Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film released during Diwali and there is newfound interest in Yuvan Shankar Raja's album.
3. "E" - Music: Srikant Deva. "Theeppori parakum" sung by Tipu is becoming a big hit.
4. "Kizhakku Kadarkarai Salai" - Music: Paul J. This is Paul J's first film album and he has been able to attract the young with some racy numbers.
5. "Thiruvilayadal Aarambham" - Music: D. Imam. "Ennamma Kannu" by Karthik and Ranjith is becoming popular though some still talk nostalgically about the old SPB Malaysia Vasudevan song.

Ya, when you go to watch a movie with ARR as music director, your exception from the song picturization is hugeeeeeee and when watching SOK I was realy disapointed! Munbey vaa & NY nagaram were just OK! The Majaa majaa song could have been much better! The Jo-surya hum hum on their room was to repetitive! :D

[tscii:82e26822d2]Kollywood in 2006
IndiaGlitz [Monday, December 04, 2006]
The year 2006 has seen a mixed response as far as films are concerned. There have been a slew of hits and average runners, promising stars and new trends in the industry.
There has been no dearth of miracles in Kollywood in 2006. While Chitiram Pesuthadi had a miraculous but significant run, catapulting the new star Naren to fame, the long pending film which waited to see the light of day, Varalaru released amidst much hopes and proved naysayers wrong with its successful run. Yes indeed, it has been a memorable year for Ajith.
Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi offered the audiences laughter on a platter and the audience, which comprised mostly of kids, was seen in splits, laughing their lungs out on seeing the histrionics of Vadivelu on screen. The Pulikesi mustache became a hot favourite among kids. This film belonged to a rare genre in films namely, historical comedy.
One of the most awaited films of the year, Sillunu oru Kadhal, did average business. The songs are chartbusters though, and every TV channel has Munbae Vaa among the top ranks in the countdown shows.
The chemistry between Suriya and Jyothika has been much looked forward to since Kaaka Kaaka and the star pair’s marriage soon after the film aroused many expectations on the film. Jyothika announced her decision to quit films soon after her marriage.
It has been a significant year for Jeyam Ravi as well, with his Unakkum Enakkum Something Something running to packed houses. The brother duo of Jeyam Raja and Jeyam Ravi proved to be a magical combo yet again, with this film which was declared a superhit by industry pundits.
Likewise, Bharath had a superhit in Em-Mahan, which brought small screen director Thirumurugan to the silver screen. Thirumurugan arrived into the celluloid world with a bang in 2006.
Thalainagaram brought the histrionics of director Sundar C to the fore. His restrained performance suited his role in the movie to a T. Another star, people opine, has been born.
Thambi was a well-deserved hit, with the revolutionary Madhavan sporting a Che Guevara T-shirt, reacting to evils in the society. It showed Madhavan in a different light, which he used to the best of his ability.
Thiruttu Payalae won raving reviews for its bold theme and lucid treatment. This film helped Jeevan join the category of the most sought after stars. The same goes for Thimiru, which helped Vishal gain a firm foothold in the industry, what with his earlier Sandakozhi proving to be a hit as well.
Uyir is one of those films which starred a woman in a central role and Sangeetha used it only too well, to prove her acting mettle. Likewise, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu brought Kamalini Mukherjee to Tamil film industry and the film was spoken about by one and all for the stylish way in which the film was shot.
Among the recent releases, apart from Varalaru, E is doing good business, which is good news for Jeeva. It is now too early to come to a conclusion about the most recent releases Sivapathikaram, Irandu and Kizhakku Kadarkarai Salai.
The announcement by the State Government on the exemption from entertainment tax for those films titled in Tamil, brought about an immediate change in the titles of the films.
Many films which were originally given English titles were changed with immediate effect. And now, we have titles in chaste Tamil like Unakkum Enakkum, Varalaru and Irandu, among many others.
In all, 2006 has been a significant year not just for Tamil film industry but also the lovers of Tamil cinema worldwide.

Sillunu Oru Kaadhal completes a cool century
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, December 16, 2006]
Suriya should be thanking his stars now. He not only managed to hold hands with his beloved Jyothika this year, the movie Sillunu Oru Kaadhal featuring Suriya and Jyothika has successfully completed a 100-day run all across the State today.
The movie produced by Studio Green was a mature love story. The timing of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal's release was also very apt. It released coinciding with the wedding of the two stars.
Director Krishna took a typical triangular love story and woven an interesting tapestry using the diverse strands of romance and affection.
The success should be attributed to the director who managed to get the fine print right - the everyday detail between a husband and wife, their anger, frustrations, their love, the quaint ebb and flow of their emotions.
He was also spot on in painting a very attractive canvas of youthful, college-campus dalliance between Suriya and Bhumika.
The movie had the backing of a team of experts - A R Rahman in music, Antony in editing and Rajasekhar in camera.
Krishna is a happy and contended man now. He is happy with his effort. Amidst gangster films with bloodshed, he wanted to differentiate himself from other directors. And he did it.
:exactly:
Krishna has made a beginning with a bang. More responsibility is on his shoulders to continue the good run.

Sillunu Oru Kaadhal hits a century
December 18, 2006
Now its time for Surya to thank his fans for making his film Sillunu Oru Kaadhal a great hit. Surya married Jyothika this year and their last movie Sillunu Oru Kaadhal has completed its 100-day run all over the state.
The movie was released at the right time when the real wedding of the couple had been arranged. Sillunu Oru Kaadhal has a mature love story and it was produced by Studio Green. The movie is a combination of love and romance within a triangular love story. Hats off to the director for handling the story cleverly.
The film deals with a story involving relations between husband and wife and the ex-lover. Anger and frustration have been blended in equal measure. A R Rahman scored the music, while editing and camera were handled by Antony and Rajasekhar, respectively.
Krishna has made his debut and has given a big hit. We hope to see more hits from him in the future. Galatta.com wishes the team for giving a hit movie.

Krishna knew people like you would think that, thats why he put a huge miranda bottle (orange soda) near where they drink. This scene shows that once a week his wife permits him to drink under her guidance. This is better than a man going to a wine shop drinking too much and then sleeping in the road or w/e.

SOK is a beautiful movie :D . it is closely related to my heart.
it has the shades of mani style of romantic scenes.(especially mouna ragam) As a mani fan, i like this movie very well.
surya standing in the rain, outside heroine's home. that scene is taken from MR. then one scene in munbe vaa song that also inspiration from MR.
in BGM, that chorus violin(rangoli bit) in surya-poomika sequences are mesmerising. but during the college scenes, BGM is very loud.
Overall beautiful Movie.

yupp Vasanth.... and yes,its also a movie very close to my heart :) .... i tottaly fell for this movie.... the best part is,this is the Dir's 1st movie, which is very good .... its like watching some veteran direction.... this guy [Krishna] has a very very bright future..... people who critisized Krishna will know about his capability soon enough ;)
my most fav scene was with the small girl in it... very lively character :) .... loved the character of Surya & Jo, an ideal & loving couple, the best part, they fitted the character perfectly.... and the love scenes between surya & boomika was too good.... i dunno where to start and where to end to praise the movie... the BGM was a HUGE HUGE +points for the film,as u said...those violin part [rangoli chant] simply melted my heart.... the BGM actually evoked that love scenes.... no wonder ARR got so attached to this movie,he put his soul & heart in composing the BGMS
awaiting the next Krishna film....which has a high chance of him working with ARR again.... :) .... cant wait for the next Munbe Va from them....
[ohh yea.... i think the only minus point was some picturisation which could have done better....nevertheless,i apriciated it after such rubbish picturisation from Ah Aah....]
there r 2 meaning for the tittle Jillunu Oru Kadhal for this film :

Surya-Jyothika, who got married in real life, played together in this film, and it remained the last film for Jyothika before her marriage with Surya.

Nuvvu Nenu Prema - A romantic triangular love story
IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, February 27, 2007]
Suriya became well known among the Telugu audiences with his film 'Gajini'. However, his other films dubbed later failed to leave a mark. Very recently, his latest Tamil film 'Sillunu Oru Kaadhl' was dubbed into Telugu as 'Nuvvu Nenu Prema'.
Though the film was expected to release much earlier, it was delayed due to unavoidable circumstances. Suriya himself involved and got it released with himself turning the presenter of the film. The film was directed by debutant Krishna, an associate of Gautam Menon.
Vaishnavi (Jyothika) is a village belle. However, she had modern thoughts and wanted to marry a boy after loving him. Her friends were able to marry the boys with whom they fall in love, but Vaishnavi could not get such an opportunity. Vaishnavi marries Gautham (Suriya) arranged by her father.
Though Gautham looked moody during the marriage, they married life goes off well and they had a daughter and they lead a love life in Mumbai. Gautham gets a job in a big car company, while Vaishnavi also goes for a job in a firm. One day, Gautham gets an insult from an engineer during a seminar, who calls him a mechanic.
Irked over the incident, he takes it a challenge and prepares an engine design which gives more mileage on Indian roads. Gautham gets an opportunity to give a demo in the US. While Gautham is away from home, Vaishnavi happens to see an old diary written by Gautham, through which she learns that her husband had already loved a girl called Aishwarya (Bhoomika), daughter of an MP (Costumes Krishna) when he was a student and also married her.
But Aish's father takes her away immediately after their marriage as he did not like the alliance. Aish's father sends her to Australia. After the failure in love and marriage, Gautham marries Vaishnavi. In the diary, Gautham writes that he could not spend at least one day with her.
Learning about this, Vaishnavi meets Aishwarya and invites her to their home. Vaishnavi, takes her daughter with her, leaving Aishwarya and Gautham alone to enjoy the day which he wanted. Though she leaves her home, she could not resist herself, as she could not even dream of her husband sharing the bed with some other.
She returns home, only to find a letter from Aishwarya that she could not stay not even for the whole day and spent only one hour in their home. In that one hour, she claims that 40 minutes passed off silently, 10 minutes for trying to convince Gautham to talk and in the remaining 10 minutes of talk Gautham talked only about Vaishnavi.
So, with a relieved feeling that her lover is in safe and lovely hand of Vaishnavi, Aishwarya left the place. With this the film ends on a happy note. As a whole, the film gives a message that love is not just a spontaneous feeling, but the understanding of two souls.
The performance by the three lead artistes is a highlight. The entire film revolves around Suriya, Jyothika and Bhoomika. However, Bhoomika walked away with honours with a brilliant performance, both as a lover and later as a rich girl, who takes the life very casually.
Jyothika's role had a scent of total sentiment and attachment towards her husband. Suriya also gave total justice to his character, which had different shades. His histrionics were the major plus point for the success of the film. Music my AR Rahman is another highlight.
All the songs were melodious and proved that Rahman is a master of music once again. The production values are good and some parts of the movie including a couple of songs were shot in beautiful locales in Canada.
Debutant director Krishna looked promising with this film and he has a bright future.
Dialogues by Shashank Vennelakanti are okay, while Veturi and Vennelakanti penned the lyrics to suit the lip movement for the Tamil original. Antony's editing is also crisp.

there are similarities betweent "kaathali kaathali kangalal enai theendu" and the "munbe vaa en anbe vaa kooda vaa en uyire vaa" line. Its more visible in that violine theme playing mube vaa. It could be a co-incidense. Not a big deal. Dont have to rage a big fight for it..

The violin theme is the rangoli chant...munbe vaa en anbe vaa is different from the starting stanza of kaathali kaathali......the prelude of kaathali kaathali and the BGM (piano) has abit of similarity :D

Can anyone give me good site to download dts songs plss?
Its available with tamilnapster and mohankumars.com
BTW, I am not sure if the DTS audio of SOK has been discussed before. Got a CD recently, and "Newyork Nagaram","Jillunu oru kaadhal" sound awesome. In one word -Mindblowing
Switch off the lights and listen to "Newyork nagaram"(DTS) in darkness, and u will be in a for a new experience which can't be expressed in words.
My liking for Newyork nagaram got multiplied manyfolds after listening in 5.1 format. :D
