This movie is very much suited to ARR. We can bet that only ARR can do justice to a sci-fiction movie. With modern synths at his arsenal, it will be a treat for him. Lets see in what style, he has composed...May be in the style of Sivaji and Swades..The bombastic bit song had Hariharan....It looks like an intro song...I heard the intro song was by SPB. Hmmm....Atleast they can release the track listing...

Rahman must be one of the luckiest MD's... he has done a lot of contemporary soundtracks, he has also done quite a few period films (right from 16th century, early 19th and 20th century and if Marmayogi had materialized even 10th century), he has composed the sounds for fantasy dripped Medieval earth (LOTR musical - a terrific soundtrack unlike anything else!!), he has composed for north & south indian folk based subjects heck even music for Chinese period film and some interesting themes like amalgamation of ICM, WCM and pop (Yuvraaj)... ufff!!! speak of versatility!!! :bow:

Now he gets to do a futuristic Sci-fi film!! Just as it is Rahman's music is ahead of its time (Duet, TT, Boys, Yuva etc.,) but this one demands it!!!

I just can't wait to see how his imagination works to provide music for a sci-fi film! I am especially hoping for more Continuum magic! :redjump: :bluejump: :redjump: :bluejump: :redjump: :bluejump:

But of course it goes without saying that he has earned these opportunities with his talent and consistency not just luck!

The music is impressive from a technical quality standpoint, but I can't say that they really impressed me otherwise. Coming from ARR, it is a bit disappointing, but that's just my opinion.

Actually,,to be frank, the songs are good....Endhira is very good...Will become an anthem once the film releases...Kaadhal Anukkal ok song only...But again, its ARR and we all knew, his music grows like a virus...It catches you in no time...And Suryan FM are broadcasting only 60 % of the song now...And the quality is also not very superior..."Ushaar aaiyitaanga"...

Had to make a final decision only when the full audio releases in CD...Since the mastering is done in reputed international studios, we can be assured of the sound quality...

Orchestration in Arima is grand and in Kaadhal Anukkal, its good...good in sense, I can sense a lot of vsti generated sounds...like the ones u can get from Arturia and Massive...Just my opinion..I also feel they are holding the best songs up their sleeves and they will release the next set tomo...

Pidikarathum pidikathathum avanga avanga ishtam.. I was so overwhelmed with VTV than Raavanan per se.. but Adhiradi karan is one of my fav's.. hopefully Endhiran would keep up to the hype and for the matter of fact, it ends up as a Rajni film whomever may be involved in the project, so if it caters to RK audience, it had done enough justice..

Some of the albums you have listed released long, LONG back and they are still not popular. Says a lot, doesn't it.

If their songs are *that* good, they won't go unnoticed. Kreedom songs for example were quite popular and it released along with Sivaji songs.

Yes, exactly. If a new MD is truly talented, their music will be appreciated and supported. It's not like radios and TV channels only play ARR songs all day long.

Regarding sales of CDs, ofcourse the release of Endhiran is going to affect sales of other lesser known composers albums, but that's just expected isn't it. Especially with the names involved in Endiran. Not exactly ARRs fault.

Plus you seem to have conveniently forgotten that ARR was a budding young composer too once upon a time. His music earnt him his accolades.

In the first hearing I liked it more than Shivaji, though a gorgeous melody like Sahana is missing. Kadhal Anukkal is good but is no match for the mellifluous Sahana.

Short review:

1. Irumbile Oru Ithayam - Techno ...like in Fanaaaaaa, Kash'N'Krissy sema thillalangadi singer.

2. Kilimanjaro - Amazing beat, Catchy and hummable. I think I seen stills for this song on internet

3. Arima Arima -Vaaji Vaaji part II, music sounds spectacular.

4. Puthiya Manitha - Impressive intro by A R Rahman, Rahman's daughter sung well and clearly, SPB always cool.

5. Robo Robo sounds okay in parts

6. Kadhal Anukkal reminds me of "Kathal sei Kathal sei" from Arai En305il kadavul.

Initial reactions from me

quite disappointed mainly after the stupendous start with awesome Kadhal Anukkal and Arima song. All other songs did not gain my attention. and I am not basically a Shankar+ARR combo fan except for some songs.

But definitely better than the mediocre Raavanan

arima songs charanam remind me of the Mayilirage song from A aa E Ee. is it because of madhushree or is there any tune similarity?

I must say, though Arima is catchy, kaadhal anukkal has more soul in it plus cool groovy guitar - the likes of which Harris Jeyaraj specializes in (Mudhal naal indru from unnaale unnaale comes to my mind).
All the songs have new sounds (groovy and extremely catchy), yet the underlying Rahman template is unmistakably present.
Thanks to Shankar's steadfast adherence to scifi template, we do not get to hear any "Ballelakka" kinda TN crowd pleasing number.
Kili maan jaaro is another song where the groovy sounds and chorus provide a groovy fresh feel to a jaded tune( shades of "egiri gudhithen" from boys anyone?) and make it pass.. need more listens, but so far it is a song collection that will sound even more catchy on screen - which is what Shankar wants from Rahman. -

A warm welcome to new man – The Robot: Vairamuthu’s lyrical lines are focalized towards singing praises of ‘Endhiran’. The title songs from trio combo SPB-Rahman-Rajnikanth in previous albums have been more off ethnic music. This time, it’s completely surpassing on different levels.

The complete song by crooned in robotic style and it’s sure to offer an awesome experience when heard on surround systems. Rahman’s daughter Khatija renders a verse and she is endowed with the best voice.

2. Kadhal Anukkal

A spanking romantic duet with best elements of music. Lots of fill-ins, crème de la crème rhythmic chords stroke on guitars, mild beats and of course the best singers on tracks. Maybe, the lyrics do slightly lack clarity and may soon get into your memories after constant hearings. The interludes have been well played and kudos for Rahman for sustaining the same rhythmic pattern. It’s a hat-trick for Vijay Prakash following the grand success of chartbusters ‘Hosanna’ and ‘Veera’.

3. Irumbile Oru Idhayam
Vocals: A.R. Rahman & Kash ‘n’ Krissy
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
English lyrics: Kash’n’Krissy

A classy techno streaks with continuous liners rendered by A.R. Rahman and Kash ‘n’ Krissy. Just imagine the combos of Supersonic beats with Rahman and the happening Kash ‘n’ Krissy on tracks – It’s marvelous. With the visuals, the song is sure to go ahead exceeding your expectations.

Just as in previous numbers, most of the lines are orchestrated with robotic effects. Of course, you can feel the touch of Praveen Mani. Last time, the duo worked together for a stunning number was ‘Petta Rap’ in ‘Kadhalan’.

Best of all the best ones in this album. The song has the aesthetic touch of A.R. Rahman as his uniqueness of great chorus, orchestration over trumpets and live instruments with fewer modifications over the vocalisms. Synch-leads played as fill-ins and War-Marching beats are the highlighting traits. Veteran Hariharan intonates with a majestic approach while Benny Dayal and Naresh on chorus part have done a marvelous job. The visual will emblazon the eyes with the best treats of grandioseness.

6. Kilimanjaro
Vocals: Javed Ali and Chinmayee
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Additional Vocal Arrangements: Clinton Cerejo

The lyrics seem to be quite odd and really wondering to hear such a versatile lyricist Vairamuthu penning such amateurish lines. A.R. Rahman has gone adhered to the African music in recent times. When most of the songs in his previous album ‘Raavanan’ had the African vocals and beats, the maestro establishes the same style in this song. Javed Ali carries the song with his best efforts while Chinmayee is hyperactive as her voice sounds abnormal.

6. Boom Boom Robo Da
Vocals: Yogi B, Keerthi Sagathia, Swetha Mohan, Tanvi Shah
Lyrics: Madhan Karky

Rahman brings the most energetic young singers to croon this fun-filled song on Robot. The instrumentals are extraordinary and the voices are the song’s USP. Sounds like a signature music and may appear during sequences of ‘Enthiran’ becoming hero of masses.

A.R. Rahman recreated his magic with Rajnikanth and Shankar with ‘Enthiran’. The songs tuned on extremely contrastive aspects from his previous albums may lightly sound to be different. But it’s his New Line of Music, savoring for the tastes of youth and kids. Naturally, as it happens with A.R. Rahman’s albums, it may take some more time for all the songs to become chartbusters.

Puthiya manitha is brilliant, top-drawer. ARR robotic intro, kathija's divine appeal & SPB's duel interaction "Creator Vs Robo" is masterstroke. Hats off!

Arima & Kilimanjaro' are from SJ Puli's den. Yet, likeable should go well with the masses. The horn intro is over kusumbu. HH is rip-roaring and Chinmayee is awesome as usual. Javed ali & Vijay prakash doesn't impress much. Kaathal anukkal is quiet aged for the duad. The Ist interlude is a lovely Irish sample lude got me instantly reminded of 'dubliner's song.

Irumbile oru idhayam, Robo da & citi dance only Shankar can ask and handle this.

Did Sivamani said these songs are better than Kadhalan & Boys? :shock: No Sir!
