Should Sankaracharya be elected like the Pope.

The method of appointing a Sankaracharya at a young age probably worked before in a closed society. It has failed now. Jeyandrar had expressed his desire to leave and had actually left. He was forced back. A system that elects someone who has voluntarily dedicated his life might be better.

Can some one explain first of all whether we need POPE or Sankaracharyas or Imams?

The selections and huge unrealistic importance given by the medias create imaginary holy beings who are assumed to guide the ignorant human beings!!!

Can anyone explain whether any of these so called holy leaders worked for unity and harmony of all human beings instead of dividing with religions?
