Influence of Western Pop Music in Indian Films

Hello Everyone!

I have a huge task of compiling "filmi" music based on Western Pop Music Genre- like the influence of Rock n Roll (Shammi Kapoor,Chandra Babu etc), Disco, etc., on Indian movie songs.

The languages I'm working on are Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil movie songs. I would like to have recommendations from the Hubbers, stating name of the song & movie, the singer(s), the genre and if possible the year as well.

If there's a web site where one can legally download the songs you mention, that would be great!

I spent almost 3 hours reading all the old posts including some great discussions carried out by learned lady called Kanchana. It's a wealth of information!

I'm overwhelmed wih all the info...Do you think I should re-post the message, as what I'm looking for is actual names of songs which can be legally downloaded, which will help me in physically compiling them on to a thumb drive.
