I have a very limited knowledge on Music, and tried to get in touch with our music types and genres, but quickly understood that I am more interested in listening to Music rather than knowing it. Few materials that I had consulted, almost every, yes, almost every has a line dedicated to Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, whom I consider as the synonym to Music.

This great man, an international icon, a symbol of Music From India, is a carnatic vocalist, instrumentalist, playback singer, actor and composer and a major resource, which forms the ocean called ART. Honoured with Padma Vibhushan & National Award, including the Chevalier, he is crowned with the place he holds permanently inside the fans, like myself, ailing from different parts of the world with different taste to still their hunger for Music; Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna united these single beads and pieces into a garland with his classical music.

A legend whose tale will be sung in various languages including Tamil, Hindi, Sanskrit, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, and Punjabi and has now become the fabulous Myth of Music. As long as Music & Art prevails, irrespective to its varied forms it may take, Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna will be present like the precious mineral in the divine flow of classical music and will stay as the sound of nature ringing the soul to keep it immortal.

A tiny stone to splash the ocean of music (and of course his works cannot be streamlined into tubes and videos), the eternal song that shall keep the flame of talent glowing forever:

Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, thank you, for your guidance and for your generosity to leave behind a huge heap of materials that could never be emptied by time.

Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna (06/July/1930 – 22/November/2016), a Musician that Music holds as its own eyes.

Balamuralikrishna used to call this Swathithirunal krithi "Hindi Bhajan by Maharaja from Kerala,
sung by Andhra Balamuralikrishna who is settled in Madras! A Real case of National Integration!"

An Ode to a maestro

The strengths of Balamuralikrishna include a musical acumen which showed up as his ability to retain and reproduce music heard just once, his ability to handle more than one musical instrument, his ability to compose from the age of 15 and finally, his gifted voice manifested as his ability to utter clearly, pronounce faithfully and accent correctly the lyrical phrases along with the nuances of the underlying musical notes and microtones.

A look at the musical genius's work...
