Would like to share some positives:
(Negatives like very minor..would not spoil the fun by discussIng now)
Racy screenplay!(esp 1st half)
Comedy(esp Chaams and director ...was really impressed by the way it was placed in the film)
Action scenes like damn realistic! Can feel the hits!
BGM(GHIBRAN Did an awesome job)
Ulaganayagan acting:nadichamaariye illainga! Super casual!! Not mass like Ragavan but Idhu Vera style!

First show is today in my area - suburbs - damn the distributors who wont release any Tamil film in the AMC/Regal cinema halls - be it Kamal. Rajini, or anyone else's films..

Am neck deep at work - an important project is underway - and a not-to-be-missed talk on Wednesday evening - so if I can't watch it tuesday, it will be Thursday/Friday..

This has been the trend for me for a while - final years before defending plus interviews and then training and finally off to further research work etc - couldnt watch Virumandi, Anbe Sivam, Panchathanthiram, PKS, etc when they were released - and had to wait and watch later on DVD!

DTH is the way out for overseas markets..

To be frank , I have no confidence on this movie ..I didn't follow much news ..my expectation is low ..moreover , I am not ஒலக சினிமா ரசிகன்.

So I end up with full satisfaction.

I entered the theatre with big Sprite cup ..before movie started I chipped quarter of it ..Then after the movie ended only i realise , i forgot the drink ..and throw away .

I am happy . Kamalda !

You mean Masss content? Just kidding.

It will be terribly disappointing if content quotient is not high in Kamal movie. At least that's been the trend in most of his recent movies, UV being a prime example. But it is sad when, at times, they don't become a big hit. I guess it's OK as long as it does not impact Kamal.

I understand. I face similar problems. Tamil films hardly get released in the main city in my place. Easily takes me 2 hours for me to get to the theatre (irrespective of where its released. Thoongaavanam's released in 6 locations here in Chicago...But none of them are in the main city).

the movie came right after baasha and expectation was sky high. I'm someone who watched both baasha and muthu in rakki and sivakthi (weird muth got released in sivasakthi theatre in padi. i think it belongs to sivasakthi pandian) on first day respectively. later I watched kuruthi punal in rakki.

KP, Anbe Sivam, Mahanadhi, Nammavar, Paasa valai, Hey Raam, Uthama Villain -- all these did not make money. They all had great content, was critically acclaimed and retrospectively appreciated a great deal but were not box office hits.

I am still in chennai and i have seen KP on FDFS @ Pallavaram lakshmi and so called all the movies listed here. KP, Mahanadhi did very well.

ரொம்ப நல்ல கெட்ட போலீஸாக கமல் ஹாசன். வழக்கமான நேர்மை, உண்மை, கடமை என எதுவுமின்றி பணம் இருந்தால் மார்க்கம் உண்டு பாணி ஆள். அவர் கையில் கிடைக்கிறது விலைமதிப்புள்ள போதைப்பொருள். பணத்திற்கு ஆசைப்பட்டு மிக லாவகமாக மறைத்து வைக்கிறார் கமல். இடையில் கமலின் ஆசை மகன் கடத்தப்பட யார் கடத்தினார்கள். ஏன் கடத்தினார்கள். யார் கடத்தினார்கள், எதற்கு கடத்தினார்கள் மகன் கிடைத்தானா இல்லையா? என்பது மீதிக் பரபர க்ளைமாக்ஸ்.

விஸ்வரூபம் படத்திற்குப் பிறகு இடையில் வந்த இரண்டு படங்களுமே குடும்பம், செண்டிமெண்ட் என கொஞ்சம் வேறு கதைக்களமே. ஆனால் மீண்டும் ஆக்*ஷன் அவதாரத்தில் மிரட்டியிருக்கிறார். த்ரிஷா முதல்முறையாக போலீஸாக நடித்துள்ளார்.

த்ரிஷாவின் கேரக்டருக்காக பேசப்பட்ட படங்களில் இந்தப் படத்திற்கும் ஒரு முக்கிய இடம் உண்டு. இவர்கள் இருவரையும் விடவும் நடிப்பிலும், கவுண்டர்களிலும் அப்லாஸ் அள்ளுகிறார் பிரகாஷ்ராஜ். கமலை உக்காந்த இடத்திலிருந்து கொண்டு ஆட்டிப்படைத்திருக்கிறார்.

ஆஷா சரத் அவ்ளோ பெரிய நடிகையாக பாபநாசம் படத்தில் அறியப்பட்டவர் இந்தப் படத்தில் ஒரு சின்ன கேரக்டரில் காட்டியது சற்றே ஏமாற்றம். கிஷோர் கொடுத்த வேலையை சரியாக செய்துள்ளார். படத்தில் ஒரே ஒரு பாடல், வைக்கவே முதலில் தைரியம் வேண்டும்.

அதிலும் அது ரொமான்ஸோ அல்லது காதல் பாடலாகவோ இல்லாமல் இருப்பது தமிழ் சினிமாவின் அடுத்தக் கட்டத்தைக் காட்டுகிறது. பின்னணி பக்கா அதிரடி.. ஒர் இரவு எப்படிப் போகுமோ அதே வேகம் படம் முழுக்க. முன்பாதி அதற்குள் முடிந்துவிட்டதா பாணியில் இருக்கிறது. பின் பாதியில் கொஞ்சம் வேகம் குறைவு தான் எனினும் கதை விவரிக்க அந்த கதை நகர்வு அவசியமான ஒன்றாகவே படுகிறது.

ரீமேக் தான் ஆனால் கமல் படம் எனில் அது வேறு தான் என்பதற்கு இந்தப் படமும் ஒரு சான்று. ஆளவந்தான் படத்திற்குப் பிறகு தீபாவளியன்று வெளியாகும் கமல்ஹாசன் படம். அதுவே ஒரு சிறப்பு.. எனில் ஆக்*ஷன் வேட்டையில் மீண்டும் ஸ்டைலிஷ் கமல்ஹாசன். கண்டிப்பாக கமல் பிரியர்களும் சரி, ரிமெக் பிரியர்களும் சரி தவறவிடக்கூடாத படம் இந்தத் தூங்காவனம்.

Outstanding movie. No unwanted scenes heroism songs etc. Wonderful narration. Kamals acting was so real. Perfect cast. Sure shot blockbuster. BGM theri... Movie was like a Hollywood movie with perfect cuts.

Final title song was well edited. Finally Kamal walking with multiple color shades :notworthy:

Thoongaavanam is an absolute slick crime adventure that has two marvellous stars, Kamal Haasan and Prakash Raj, pitted against each other in a cat-and-mouse game -- which unfolds mostly within the noisy smoke-filled, bathed in liquor environs of a nightclub. Can there be a better setting for a cocaine-deal gone awry with Haasan playing an undercover cop, Diwakar, out to trap fellow policemen who are hand-in-glove with the drug lord, Prakash Raj’s Vittal Rao -- desperate to lay his hands on a missing bag of drugs.

The bag is with Diwakar in a film that has been inspired by a French work, Nuit Blanche (Sleepless Night), and he finds himself truly cornered when Rao kidnap’s the cop’s young school-going son. Give me the white powder and take your son back, Rao laughs over the telephone, Prakash Raj’s hallmark trait. Diwakar walks into the nightclub, brimming with young fun seekers, and in the noise and din of it all, he manages to lose the bag -- the key to his son’s freedom.

Kamal Haasan actioner Thoongaavanam to have just one song

Stalked by Rao inside the labyrinth of a club, as well as two other police officers -- one of them Mallika (played by Trisha, who seems too frail for the role of a tough cop) -- Diwakar sees the minutes tick up as he plans his moves during a sleepless night in what is virtually a forest of vice.

Mounted with marvellous finesse and edited with breathtaking pace, the movie in just over two hours keeps us mesmerised by its gun fights and kicking sprees which play out -- some of them inside the club’s kitchen, lending a wee bit to hilarity.

There is also a dash of emotion in all this mayhem. There are touching scenes between Diwakar and his son. You are the most important person in my life, Diwakar tells the boy. But you never told me that before, he looks half surprised, half happy.

This is certainly one of Haasan’s better films in recent months (the other being Papanasam), but, yes, Kamal needs to make a greater attempt to sink into a character, something he was adept at in his earlier days. I would say the same for Prakash Raj, but he is, of course, capable of surprising us with a performance like the one we saw in Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani -- where he was the caring husband of a woman, down with dementia.

A last word, Thoongaavanam is eminently watchable, even if that means keeping awake for a late night show.

Kamal Haasan’s Thoongaa Vanam is a faithful remake of French thriller, Nuit Blanche (Sleepless Night). Those who have seen the original might feel little underwhelmed as Kamal didn’t add any extra elements in the remake. Debut director Rajesh M Selva takes his own time in establishing his characters but once all of them enter into the Insomnia pub (where the whole story takes place), things start moving like a tracer bullet and the tension settles down only during the climax. Though Kamal’s idea of remaking a classy thriller for Tamil audiences is laudable, one has to wait and see how our people are going to embrace the film.

Kamal Haasan has once again proved his inimitable acting prowess with a wide range of expressions. The high octane kitchen stunt between, Kamal and Trisha is mind-boggling, kudos to both the actors for clinching the authentic action sequence in style. It’s a completely different role for Trisha and the actress has pulled it off with great élan.

The other actors including Prakash Raj as the vehement drug lord and Kishore as the double-dealing police officer have given wonderful performances. The surprisingly enjoyable addition is actor Sams, his conversation with Kamal brings the roof down!

Thoongaa Vanam’s big strengths are its music composer Ghibran and cinematographer Sanu Varghese, together they have taken the film to a different level, not to forget the simon-pure sound design by Kunal Rajan.

Ghibran has given enough space for silence and at the same time, his glitch music elevates the anxiety. Similarly, Sanu Varghese’s angles at the narrow halls and pub with minimal lighting deserve applause.

Overall, Thoongaa Vanam is a classy thriller, which will definitely satisfy its target audiences!

Rapid action, What did actually happen? is the one line of Thoongavanam movie.
Instead being a regular good honest dutiful police officer Kamal prefers to be a very good of the bad kind with “where there is money there is a will” principle.

He conceals drugs worth huge amount in greed of money. In the middle of all this Kamal’s beloved son is being kidnapped. Why was his son kidnapped? Who kidnapped? Why did they kidnap? Did his son was rescued or not? The answer to all these questions takes us to the climax.

The last two movies after Vishwaroopam being a family drama this one of Kamal is an entirely different plot. Kamal has given a blast and threatened all of us with his reincarnation as an action hero. Trisha has acted as a police officer for the first time and her character in this movie will be spoken for sure. Prakash Raj draws the centre of attraction with his acting and witty counters in the movie. He has completely ruled over Kamal and Trisha. Aasha Sarath who was the big shot of Papanasam disappoints us with a small character.

The movie has enough guts to have only one song which being not a duet shows the next level of Tamil film Industry. Background is a thunder roar. The movie got the speed of a night flying away. One will never expect the first half to be completed so soon while the second half is a bit slow which is actually apt and necessary for the story.
It may be a remake but its a Kamal movie and Thoongavanam is not an exception.

After Aalavandhan this is the first Kamal’s movie to be released on Diwali. The ever stylish Kamal is back again with his action. Thoongavanam is a must watch for all the Kamal fans out there. A blast from Ulaganayagan.

ரசிகர்களுக்கு சர்ப்ரைஸ் கொடுத்த தூங்காவனம் ராஜேஷ்

ராஜேஷ் ம செல்வா இயக்கத்தில் தற்போது வெளியாகியுள்ள படம் ‘தூங்காவனம்’. இதில் கமல், திரிஷா, கிஷோர், யூகி சேது, மதுஷாலினி உள்ளிட்ட பலர் நடித்திருந்தார்கள். இப்படம் வெளியாவதற்கு முன்னதாகவே ரசிகர்கள் மத்தியில் பெரும் எதிர்பார்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்தது. தற்போது ரிலீசாகி ரசிகர்களிடையே நல்ல வரவேற்பு பெற்று வெற்றிகரமாக திரையரங்குகளில் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

இப்படத்திற்காக iflicks.in வாசகர்களுக்கு போட்டி நடத்தியது. இதில் வாசகர்கள் ஆர்வமாக கலந்துக் கொண்டனர். வெற்றி பெற்றவர்களுக்கு ‘தூங்காவனம்’ படத்தை பார்ப்பதற்கு பிரத்யேக காட்சி ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது.

அதன்படி நேற்று நடந்த பிரத்யேக காட்சியில், ரசிகர்கள் படத்தை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். அப்போது திடீர் என்று படத்தின் இயக்குனர் ராஜேஷ் அங்கு வந்தார். படத்தை ஆர்வமாக பார்த்து கொண்டிருந்த ரசிகர்களுக்கு இது சர்ப்ரைசாக அமைந்தது. மேலும் ரசிகர்களிடையே படத்தை பற்றிய சில சுவாரஸ்யமான விஷயங்களை ராஜேஷ் பகிர்ந்துக் கொண்டார். ரசிகர்களுக்கு படம் சிறப்பாக இருக்கிறது என்று கூறி ராஜேஷுக்கு பாராட்டு மழை பொழிந்தனர்.

கொஞ்ச நேரத்திற்கு முன்புதான் இப்படி டுவிட்டியிருந்தென்.
21ம்நூற்றாண்டில் தமிழ்ப்படங்கள், இசை மீதான பத்திரிகை, இணைய விமர்சனங்களின் தரவீழ்ச்சியினை கட்டுரையாக ஆவணப்படுத்தலாம். வரலாறு ரொம்ப முக்கியம்.

பொதுவாக இவனுங்க கொடுக்கிற மதிப்பெண்கள், நட்சத்திரங்கள் எல்லாமே நகைச்சுவையின் உச்சம். ஒரு காட்சி கூட ரசிக்க முடியாத படங்களுக்கு 3 கொடுப்பதும், ரொம்ப சிறப்பா வந்திருக்கிற படங்களுக்கு எதோ கர்ண வள்ளல் போல 3.25 கொடுப்பதும் காலக் கொடுமை. வெகுஜனங்களின் பொதுபுத்தி, பொதுரசனை மற்றும் இவர்களிலிருந்து உதிர்த்து வந்த Mediocrity விமர்சகர்கள் மத்தியில் முகநூல், ட்வீட்டர் மற்றும் மையம் போன்ற உரையாடல் தளங்களில் நாம் நம் வழியினை மாற்றாமல் பயணிப்பதுதான் 21ம் நூற்றாண்டின் உச்சநிலை சகிப்புத்தன்மை.

This is what is a "template" movie. Kamal's 2015 movies, in particular, have all been very different and also scoring at the box office. So, in many ways, he is trying to elevate and redefine what it means to experience an interesting tamil movie. While he has been doing this for many years/decades, he is doing it more directly and consistently now.

Movie is very good. I did see Sleepless night and I felt TV has more scope for emotion connect between father-son than the original did.

Santhana Bharathi's anti-fan stance was so meta-tastic (movie being banned, fans turned away as result.) However, I don't understand the mixed feedback from people. This is the same folk who complained about a certain budget films having wafer thin story, grapicks, poor baadi language, saavu aadkiraanga songs. naalaiku VS intha madhri padam pannina, athey complain panra makkal paapaaanga? Or is this Anti-KH stance that certain UCRs are having grudge since Hey Ram time? Will they start singing praises for other guy's next if it doesn't get lapped up by neutrals? Seri vidunga.

I did feel like this bag plot device being tossed around reminded me of Pushpak plot when KH takes the rich-drunkard's role as weathy-man. Only flaw I can see was the attempts at comedy from time to time. Some jokes aside, it wasn't needed.

Nevertheless, good that KH is back though he's looking tired of late (back to back productions, man he doesn't rest, but he continues to deliver.) Hope this movie runs well. I still want Vishwaroop 2 to see light in 2016 by hook or crook and get the max promotions possible.

The reviews have been positive in my opinion if you are to take an average. You will have negative comments coming in however for which the particular person is entitled to. But I do find it hard to give much credit to the reviews to be frank. We don't have a culture of reviewing films objectively do we. Film criticism in Tamil Nadu is poor and has been the same for years. All we get in most reviews are generic statements about how the one man show of the hero saves the film, the cinematography was breathtaking so on so forth. The biggest poosi muzhugal is about the editing. If the film's a tad long, they question the editor. Its hard for me fathom as to how professional reviewers think that an editor's job is just to contain a film to specific duration. Take Uttama Villain for example, you had people praising the sound editing. But how many looked into it objectively. And its only getting worse. Used to be a regular patron of pro-reviews, but that boat's sailed. I find it infuriating when reviews speak a couple of paragraphs about a movie and finish it with an overall verdict or a score. Reviews in Bollywood are way better. You have the likes of Raja Sen, Sudish Kamath et al. Their reviews might be polarising, but at least they are objective. I would go one step further and say that the standard of pro-reviews in TFI is indicative of the standard of cinema we produce.

தூங்காவனம் படம் பிரஞ்சுல பாத்தாலும் சரி, தமிழ்ல பாத்தாலும் சரி படம் பக்கா. பொதுவாக கமல் இயக்கும் பெரும்பாலான படங்களை புரிந்துகொள்வதற்கு ஏழாம் அறிவு வேண்டும். இல்லையென்றால் ஏழு முறையாவது படத்தை பார்க்கவேண்டும். அவருடைய திரைக்கதை அவிழ்க்கமுடியாத சிக்கலான முடிச்சுக்களால் பிணைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும். ஆனால் தூங்காவனம் பிரஞ்சு படத்தில் இருந்து ரீமேக் செய்தாலும், விருப்பத்திற்கு திரைக்கதையை அமைத்து நம்மண்டையை சொறிய விடாமல், காட்சி பை காட்சி அச்சுபிசகாமல் அப்படியே எடுத்துள்ளனர். மேலும் தமிழுக்கு தேவையான சில, பல காட்சிகளையும் திணித்து தந்துள்ளனர்.
படத்தில் வரும் ஒவ்வொரு கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கும் ஒரு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பிரஞ்சில் படம்முழுவதும் ஒரே சீரியஸ் மூட்லேயே நம்மை கொண்டு செல்லும். ஆனால் இதில் அங்கங்கே நம்மை சிரிக்கவைக்கும், ரசிக்கவைக்கும் காட்சிகள் நிறையவே உள்ளது. பிரஞ்சு படம் பார்த்துவிட்டு இந்த படம் பார்த்தவர்களில் சிலர் மட்டும் இரண்டாம்பாதி கொஞ்சம் இழுவையாக உள்ளது என கருத்துதெரிவித்துள்ளனர். ஆனால் இந்த படத்தை நேரடியாக பார்க்கும் அனைவரையும் முழுக்க முழுக்க சீட்டின் நுனியில் உட்காரவைக்கும்.

இறுதியில் மகனை காப்பாற்றி வீடு சேர்த்தபின், காரிலேயே மயங்கிய தந்தையை மகனே காரை ஓட்டி காப்பாற்றுவது போல் பிரஞ்சுபடத்தில் கிளைமேக்ஸ் முடியும். ஆனால் தமிழில் கொஞ்சம் அதை விரிவு படுத்தி மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்த்தபின் திரிஷாவும், நர்சும் மாறி மாறி தன் தந்தையை கவனிப்பதை உணர்ந்த கமலின் மகன் தன் அம்மாவிற்கு போன் செய்து சொல்லும் வசனம் நச். அதோடு கிளைமாக்ஸ் முடிந்திருந்தால் பிரஞ்சுவைவிட அருமையாக இருந்திருக்கும். ஆனால் அதையும் தாண்டி ஆறுமாதம் கழித்து என கமலும் திரிஷாவும் எதிரில் வரும் தோட்டா முன் சீறிப்பாய்வது கொரியன் படத்தில் லாஜிக்கே இல்லாமல் வரும் கிளைமாக்ஸ் காட்சிபோல் உள்ளது.

Of course they are different. CKD clearly has some negative shades....It was not clear (at least to me) for a while into the movie if CKD was good or bad. I don't think he disrespects MS's boyfriend...he is clearly a rogue. But notice that he had to be coaxed into action. He was simply going to ignore it until he could not resist doing the right thing. There are several places like this. Me need to watch again.

The only similarity is that they're cops. Diwakar is probably an antithesis to a nermayaana police athigaari. Raghavan embodies that. You will probably never see Raghavan indulge in any sort of violence against women. But that's not the case with Diwakar. Even when there arises a question of family over duty,Diwakar choses the former. And he always seems to be on the fence with respect to morality. His way of speaking or invigilating borders on arrogance as evidenced by how he talks to the witnesses and also his inferiors which is close to how a normal cop would behave. And like how Kumar pointed out, Diwakar helped Esther only after he found that he couldn't ignore her wails. He was evasive till the end. And Diwakar gets beaten by every tom dick and harry in the pub. Can't imagine this happening to Raghavan. Raghavan is probably too clean to go undercover...

Watched the movie in Paramathi velur by diwali morning 11.30 AM show..Movie is good with linear screenplay..

Positives:
Kitchen fight between trisha and kishore,
Subtle comedy by prakash raj & chef -> infact this is the main factor that worked for many neutral audience
Kamal energy in moving around pub,fight scenes & looks less aged like in 40's with angry desperate look -> It made me to think his career end is still far away.
No unwanted scenes except santhana bharati scene,
casting works big time

Negatives:
Nothing special for Kamal & normal story..
First 30 mins bgm is minimum which feels the movie lacks pace
First car fight could have been better..ideal scene for mass fight for fans to cherish
Climax scene where kamal & trisha jumps - not needed

“When we started the film, the first thing which we as a team were keen was that we should respect the audience’s taste and sensibilities. We decided that we will not spoon feed them. We are happy that people are pointing this out saying we have rendered a classy product. If you had noticed, there would not be any extreme close-up shots in the film to explain to people.

Kamal sir would always say that the viewers are far more intelligent and superior than the filmmakers and not to underestimate them. Today, the audiences are exposed to all kinds of world cinema and know what’s going on around them.

What I consider as my biggest achievement is the response of the audience during a night show at Albert theatre in Chennai, which is generally known for its revelry while watching big star’s films. And to my surprise, they watched it with total silence. There were no cat calls or taunts or jibes. They just clapped at the end and left. This is really a big thing there.

We have made a quality Tamil film with good technical work, understood and not over the top performances with a good narration. This is not a regular film where there is a grand hero introduction song, but on the contrary, begins with the hero getting bashed up. We can do this only with Kamal sir. Audiences have understood the film and are appreciating it.

Naatukkoru Sedhi solla.. a 9 minute song on veedhi naadagam
UttamaVillains.. Hiranyan Naadagam,
ManMadhanAmbu's .. Kannodu Kannai Kalandhal kavidhai

Most of the above were RKFI movies. These are just a sample.
Of course due credit to IR, SPB, Vaali, VM, other MDs.

When songs were just commercial elements, someone breaks it in his home productions, and sometimes even goes without it by choice, not by chance!!

கமல் ரசிகர்களுக்கு பிடிக்கும்.மற்ற ரசிகர்களுக்கு எப்படி படம் எடுத்தாலும் படம் ஓடுதேனு பொறமையாக இருக்கும்.

இன்னும் 2 fight seans நச்சுனு இருந்து இருந்தால் படம் இன்னும் நல்லா இருந்து இருக்கும்.

படத்தில் மிகவும் பிடித்த காட்சி - ஒரு மைதா மாவுக்கு ஏன் 3 பேரும் இப்படி சண்டை போட்டுகுறாங்க என்ற காட்சி தான்.

To me Thoongavanam like kamal ji decided to do a simple and neat film for the Telugu fans as he announced in Telugu first than decided to do a bilingual in Tamil! Adhaan it's considerably simpler than his previous scripts!

Papanasam trumped the other two movies easily in terms of entertainment quotient. That was one real nail biting, edge of the seat thriller. This is the movie that connected the vintage kamalhaasan with the average non-fan population who has known him for decades. The kind of reaction it got from the average cinegoers (not a young fan etc) is just phenomenal. It was like - 'kamala ipdi than pakanumnu aasapatom" reaction from all those middle aged working class and home makers.

Thoongaavanam - Very low budget, straight forward action movie. A good entertainer and made only to generate profit.

I liked all 3 films.

I am not a big fan of too much layering. It's just myth building and dilutes the main core and can be distracting, especially to fans who have to now look for additional meaning in every place, even when it is not there. So a simple story is very welcome. But with Thoongavanam, the second half could have been dramatized a bit more to avoid the slightly dragging effect. It is not dragging but being within the same club means the viewer starts to think like that. May be, 1 or 2 more additional fight sequences, presenting things in a more stylized fashion would have elevated it...Perhaps, towards the end, Prakash Raj (or Trisha as a cop) could have cleared out the entire club (closed it early and asked everyone to leave) and played the cat and mouse in the empty club. At times, it feels like KH is trying too hard not to make it into a regular, run of the mill masala. A more experienced masala director with whom he has not worked before (say, like Vishnuvardhan might have worked better). Not taking anything away from Rajesh and his first film.

'16 வயதினிலே' வாகட்டும் - பாரதிராஜா சொன்ன கதைக்கு ஒரு மறுப்பு தெரிவிக்காம நடிச்சாரு, 'பாபநாசம்' ஆகட்டும் - அதே spirit, அதே passion - அதே Box office and critical reception!

As usual I differ with most kamal fans .

For me , Thoongavanam is too good , fully satisfied .
First half went like a jet.

Guys I am watching the Movie today. As usual did not get into too much into reviews from any quarters.
Going with less expectations and an ardent kamalian. That's all.

will shower praises and noteworthy details later today.

Three movies this year in itself is great treat !!!!

Long live this great soul and actor par excellence.
