Jyothika's much awaited comeback with 36 Vayadhinile is set for release worldwide on the 15th of May. The music by Santhosh Narayanan and the trailer have been received well and the audiences are looking forward to the Jo magic on the big screen, 8 long years after Mozhi.

36 Vayadhinile is the remake of the Malayalam hit 'How Old are You' and is about the dreams and ambitions of a purposeful woman. Rosshan Andrews helms the remake as well, and Suriya's 2D Entertainment produces the film.

So when will Suriya's Masss release now? It was earlier supposed to come on 15th but now it seems unlikely.

Watched it
First half is very good.
2nd half a little patronising.

New age of Tamil cinema continues - hardly any songs to disrupt narration.
And no senseless comedy or action either.

Basically the story is of women empowerment.
All round good acting by all, especially Jothika.
Reminds of Sri Devi's English Vinglish.

All women should watch. Drag your man along. :rotfl2:

Loved Manju Warrier in the original. With Jo + Tamil audience, I dunno if the sarcastic humor would translate well. Does the impact still win you over like the Mallu original did?

36 Vayadhinile - the silent uproar of the woman.

I had doubts whether to watch the movie or not, because I already had in mind this movie was gonna be a 2 hour tv serial. There are 3 reasons why I decided to watch it anyway. First Jyothikas comeback, IMO she quit acting while she was peaking. Jyothika often overacted in previous movies, but last couple of movies she just acted which made her movies much much better. 2nd reason is Santhosh Narayanans music and songs. His BGM in the movie sets the perfect mood for the movie. Thinkmusicindia's wonderboy makes wonders again and again. 3rd reason is Viji's dialogues (Mozhi &Azhagiya Theeya dialogue writer/director of Vellithirai), his dialogues are sharp and makes you think.

This is not a movie that is gonna blow your mind off, but this is a movie that will make you respect wives more and makes you more cautious about organic food.

I havent seen the original movie so i cant compare, but this movie is a great comeback for Jyothika, and this movie restores the faith in tamilcinema.

Jyothika seems to have struck gold with her comeback 36 Vayadhinile directed by Rosshan Andrews and produced by her husband, actor Suriya. The film enters the 2nd week of its run on the back of overwhelmingly positive reception from the audiences.

Theater owners report that such a surge of families and ladies hasn't been seen in recent times. 36 Vayadhinile has been moved to bigger screens in multiplexes and these are clear signs that it is being welcomed with wide open arms. The film is expected to continue being the main attraction for film goers at least until Masss arrives next week on the 29th May.

Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram, Manager of Mayajaal multiplex in the outskirts of Chennai says,“Usually, our multiplex has lots of youngsters. But this is the first time, more families are arriving. This indeed is the greatest success for us.”

So we have a genuine Hit in our midst?
