Yeah with Nasser it gets monotonous for us as we know he can carry any role and very predictable for the most part.
We need seasoned actors at the same time who can challenge our man on the sets and finally who can succeed doing many films in the future. Who gets a relaunching pad from Raajkamal.

Maddy was just ok in Naladhamayanthi. Again director Mouli could extract only that much. With Anbe Sivam maddy was a new avatar. You see Irudhi sutru and gives me a feeling confidence personified maddy this time.
In between Thambi and vettai had just energy but not outstanding elements of emotion body language and screen presence.
The seen where he overtakes kamal in AS is when they sit on the chair outside the Railway station and slow engagement turns into powerful argument and he shifts gears and gets on top succeeding in his ideology. The great performer on the otherhand maintains suttle reactions emoticons all from his cheek and sodaglass vision.
Do we have anyone let alone Indian cinema perform that scene just as kamal did?

Kurosawa kind of stuff. Realistic at the same time minimal and believable stuff!

Our man is the right blend of Marlon brando, Al pacino, chaplin and our Dileepkumar and Ultimate Sivaji Ganesan whom he reveres as his first SUN on his horizon and attributes all of it to the path SG laid in the formative years.

With the next I am ok if it is laced with humor and still engages in a new topic relevant to today. We cannot get a complete comedy movie any more. Sathileelavathi is the last in that genre.
Doing a full 2 hours of comedy movie is not going to be viable for any content.
When things get into slapstick comedy then the super actor disappears and we see pale characterization. Vasoolraja MBBS was good in parts but no depth in the characterization that he is known for.

Wouldn't mind a Kamal-Maddy combo again. Personally was let down by their lack of screentime in MMA. Could not match up to AS's intensity (yes, comparing apples to Oranges, but it's KH's screenplay though.)

Maddy coming in this project could benefit him again and I'd be ok with it.

'Hey Ram' turns 16: 8 interesting facts about the film that you may not have known
Considered to be the magnum opus of Kamal Hassan's career, 'Hey Ram' was released on February 16, 2000. Set with the backdrop of Bengal's partition, the story revolves around the protagonist Saket Ram's journey from religious hatred to love. As the iconic film 'Hey Ram' turns 16 today, we bring you some of the facts about the film that are bound to bring back memories from that era.
Before we delve in the multi facets of the period-drama, let's take a ride back and remember how this film begins. The film begins with a retired archaeologist Ram Saket lying on his deathbed at the 7th anniversary of the destruction of Babri Mosque in Ayodhya.
Not only did Kamal Hassan directed the film, he also played the role of the lead protagonist. A film indeed becomes memorable when so many actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Hema Malini, Girish Karnad, Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, Farida Jalal share the screen space together.
The fact that Shruti Hassan was a part of this film too might come as a surprise to a lot of you. She assayed the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's daughter in the story.
Another fact that might just enthral you is that Shah Rukh Khan did not ask for any remuneration for the film; as he believed that it was both an honour and privilege for him to be working with Kamal Hassan.
This period drama was simultaneously made in Hindi and English.
The film's powerful soundtrack and background score was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. However, violinist L. Subramaniam was the first choice for the music composing. Recorded by a Symphony Orchestra, it was his' second time for an Indian film.
While the film was selected by India as its submission to the Oscars, it failed to reach the final list of nominees.
Though there were several protests by various political parties for portraying Gandhi in negative lights, the film still managed to bag numerous accolades including Best Supporting Actor for Atul Kulkarni, Best Costume Design for Sarika and Manthra won the Best Special Effects. Kamal Hassan also won the Best Actor award.

Hey Ram according to me is insurmountable even by Kamal. It was the first film that made me look up to Kamal Haasan, the filmmaker. We might have seen a different Kamal had Hey Ram succeeded. But anyway coming back , a a lot of scenes rake up contrasting emotions in me. Do you applaud the acting, the layered writing or you just allow yourself to get swept away by the intensity of the emotions conveyed. And that's probably the reason I sort of dread getting back to many of his films. And on the top of that list is Hey Ram. Just take the below scene for example.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V2pjdzXltU

Watch from 1:47-4:08. Saket Ram's two questions to Suhrawadi encapsulates the horrors of the Direct Action Day. It is complemented by some tremendous acting by Kamal. A scene that never ceases to tear me up every time I watch it.

This is one movie India can be proud of.
Somehow the tfm industry failed to appreciate this magnum opus.
If all the creative heads like BR , MR , BM had endorsed it big time it could have helped a bit.
He did it for Viswaroopam having a preview show for his mentirs atleast.
2000 was probably the wrong timing for the movie. The industry was churning out useless movies and high on entertainment quotient . The general audience were mislead .
Even now it is pretty much the same .

Sad state of affairs.

Raajas epic score and put the movie on a global pedestal.
Kamals one of a kind performance and overall Indulgence.
Talent personified.
Like someone mentioned even kamal remake a similar epic. Every frame is very detailed . Lot of creative inputs visible everywhere.

The other character who goes by the name Pasi sathya. What a powerhouse of performance and body language she possesses. I think she did a small role in magalir mattum?
Terriffic actress again.
She is not on Ulaganayans sightedness I guess.

Viswaroopam release in doldrums...
Why does this happen to KH and IR always?????
Geniuses who always set the bar high .
I just read aascar is in trouble. For 35cr he has to let go of his Coimbatore property?
I dont undertand he had a biggest BB or hit in I and sailed nicely with Bhoologam.

He doesnt have 35 cr to save a property?
The guy who can get the Jackie chan to grace a function as chief guest. He still buys hollywood movies and exhibits . The new starwars , fast and fury franchise that everybody went gaga recently.
How come he is in such a state? Did he commit a real blunder to get into trouble?

Now viswaroopam is the only last one sitting to see the light of the day correct!

Hmm something is not really right. Nothing is on the white paper?
Mosadi pervizhigal everywhere......
Best I see is KH buying it back from aascar and completing the movie while he is the US with PP , sound designing color corrections etc and releasing it under RFKI.
He has a winner and for him to stay aloof like this makes me vent out and I my anger against KH is only going up.
I am losing the interest and the once fan in me is dissipating slowly.
I will be the fan of IR only and thats it.

He helped PC sriram with his maiden venture Meera to see the screens in 1990. He helped few others in his carreer including JMahendran for uthiripookal in eighties.

So Paasavalai came out under Raajkamal distribution.
Wow. He helped SPB here.

I watched the original telugu version in Bangalore Pallavi theater few days after release. During this time I had lost the craziness of doing FDFS.
Shubhasankalpam.
Heroines: Aamni/ Priya . They were new faces talentwise just another regular. So what made this movie run upto 100 days?

Just the name "Kamal" movie right?

Which other star in India , hindi included can achieve this feat for a dubbed movie?

Wow. Thats phenomenal success.

Btw: shubasankalpam managed to stay afloat for a few weeks only. The day I watched theater was just normal crowd. Not a housefull.

Some strong words there from Kamal. There is a good chance of this statement being misunderstood and dubbed as an unwarranted rant on a dead person, but it makes a lot of sense for sure.

Rajesh Pillai’s sudden death at the age of 41 has sent shock waves across the Malayalam film industry. He passed on February 27, a day after the release of his last film, Vettai.

While there have been conflicting reports about the reason behind the premature demise of one of Malayalam cinema’s most promising directors, Kamal Haasan lays the blame squarely on the filmmaker’s addiction to aerated drinks.

Says Kamal, "We should not romanticise the facts or hide the truth just because the man is no more. Nothing is forgiven because some one is dead.

"I liked that overweight, intelligent guy. He was a friend and my associate Rajeev Kumar's assistant director. I had great hopes for him."

Mincing no words, Kamal Haasan attributes Rajesh’s death to his food habits.

"No wonder gluttony is condemned in every religion. His cirrhosis was not alcohol-induced. This guy ate burgers and drank aerated drinks as if his life depended on it."

Kamal says Pillai’s death should serve as a lesson to all who guzzle aerated drinks. "I can say so much as encomium for his debut film but a better message awaits through the late Mr Rajesh Pillai: please don't mimic eating habits enforced on us by avaricious merchants. Watch and know what you feed on. Animals in the Serengeti know better. I wish Pillai had died in pursuit of a difficult film instead of a simple habit to kick. A lesson for my modern Malayali brothers and sisters.

Kamal Haasan says he was planning a film with Pillai. "I was planning to remake his Traffic in Tamil. I went to their 100th day celebrations. I sat with Pillai and my writer friend Sanjay. We almost were about to start when the producer wanted more as his share to make it in Tamil. My production company, Raj Kamal Films, backed out and they made the film in Tamil with someone else."

Kamal reveals the illness that finally killed Pillai had stuck earlier.

"Sanjay told me Rajesh was hospitalised and had withdrawal symptoms from excessive aerated drinks. I thought it was a joke. I sent word to Rajesh Pillai to get his act straight and get back to work. He did manage to make a film after that but the damage was done."

Kamal Haasan is deeply saddened by the fact that Pillai is no more. "Some might say at least he died doing what he liked best. I think he liked making films more. But he couldn't get his priorities right. A few more years of work and I am sure I would have had a lot to say about him. He has denied me that opportunity."

A Day At The Google Headquarters – With Kamal Haasan

https://ishailja.wordpress.com/2016/03/15/a-day-at-the-google-headquarters/

I am sure lot of you who are connected to technology in some way share my dream of visiting the Google headquarters and fortunately my dream came true on the 12th of February 2016 because of Mr Kamal Haasan. He was invited by Google to visit their headquarters at Mountain View Californiabikes and of course I got a chance to go since I manage his digital and social media strategy!

The day was absolutely one of the best I’ve had in a few years. Starting from a seamless , drama free co-ordination by Siddharth Srinivasan and Amit Padukone to a very warm welcome from Gloria Paulsen, we felt right at home.

talksatgoogleFrom a customised Kamal Haasan themed menu and delicious meal in their incampus sought after resteraunt ‘Baadal’ to an invigorating chat hosted by Aparna Chennapragada, from a enthusiastic discussion with Srikanth Krishnamachari to an exciting VR demonstration by the Google Cardboard team every event and interaction added to a long list of notable moments. The day ended with some of the cutest gifts that we received which I am going to cherish including a limited special edition “Talks at Google”.

Mountain view from ground level ! – Kamal Haasan

Was happy to see a lot of Indian faces obviously there for their merit. The plethora of faces and races and the way they confluenced into a team seamlessly, made me proud as an Indian. These techies were quite rooted and when their noses were up it was only to see better over the shoulder of the gentleman sitting in front of him. I like techies with humility. A rare species especially in my field. So to see a lot of them packed to capacity in a hall was exhilarating. I never saw a whimsical smile or someone chuckling into their palm at the stupidity of their chief guest’s remarks. Surely they were not sitting on their hands . They were free to applaud at what they recognized as tolerably sensible answers I think it is wrong of me to even have assumed or even expect a college campus like atmosphere.

A college campus invariably consists of wannabe achievers some times wanting to be one up upon what is generally considered as intelligent being in the populist menu. Here these guys were already achievers pushing the bar higher and had no time for games. Their nostalgia was fed by my presence I guess.

I could clearly make out who was Telugu who was Kannada and who was Tamil or Telugu from the glee on their faces or applause that rose from every film named from their respective languages.

Nowadays I become embarrassingly emotional when I talk about my Gurus. Thanks be to my acting Gurus who taught me well to not only show emotions but hide them too. I remember my seniors who taught me a lot these days . Maybe because my gurus are becoming younger and younger as I grow older.

I have a feeling I will be back at Mountain view again. I like their working space Quite unorthodox hence so appealing. The question “why not? hangs like a pleasant aroma in the air. Even on the discussion table. That is an atmosphere where innovations germinate …at least for me it works . The success that Google enjoys is proof that it works for them too

http://m.firstpost.com/bollywood/i-wrote-thevar-magan-that-movie-is-a-sivaji-kamal-love-story-the-best-of-kamal-haasans-90-minutes-with-die-hard-fans-in-new-york-2698382.html?utm_source=FP_CAT_LATEST_NEWS

New York: Award winning Indian actor Kamal Haasan's next movie will be a comedy shot almost entirely in the US, he's going to start an acting school at a scale "much bigger than you think”, he will "definitely” make a Youtube movie and there's a secret ingredient to the Thevar Magan chemistry between Kamal and Sivaji - a love story.
Kamal Haasan opened up a treasure box of experiences and anecdotes to a room packed with fans at the New York Metropolitan museum, one of the city's great cultural landmarks toasting Indian art and artists this spring.
Kamal Haasan flew in to the US on a recce trip for his next movie and stopped by to speak at Wharton before landing in New York.
Dressed in a black silk kurta/ patiala salwar ensemble and an off-white Nehru jacket, Kamal Haasan charmed a packed hall with his spot-on wit, anecdotes, raw emotion and loads of dope on some of his best movies.
Sree Sreenivasan, the Met's chief digital officer kicked off the session introducing Kamal to an eclectic New York audience and soon threw the floor open for questions.
For Kamal fans all over the world who can't get enough of the Sivaji - Kamal chemistry in Thevar Magan, one of the wow moments of the evening came when Kamal let us in on how Sivaji allowed Kamal to "become Sivaji” in the film.
Thevar Magan, Uttama Villain, Saagara Sangamam, Viswaroopam, Sadma - Kamal Haasan spoke on many of his favorite movies, his mentor K Balachander and his craft.
Kamal spoke to Firstpost on how the Indian government has handled recent storms like the JNU Row: "If your manifesto is weak, you manifest hallucinations for people. When you have a strong goal and tenacity of purpose, any squabble can be settled,” he said.
"Democracy is a vague word, it's a lot like love. We have to keep raising our voice. We have seen other governments. Have they been saner?"
Below are the best moments from Kamal's 90 minute session, starting with movies, finishing off with politics.

"I wrote Thevar Magan…It's a Sivaji-Kamal love story”
I wrote Thevar Magan (stunned silence...and then ringing applause). Some of those sequences in the film where you feel we have rehearsed…yes Sivaji Saab and I have practised those scenes for years and years. I have spoken to him, spoken back to him…including about my marriage. When I invited him to my marriage, he asked me if i was informing him or inviting him. He was hurt and I could see that hurt. He said your father is not attending your marriage and you expect me to! Then I said yes, I am informing you. But then he loved me and you will see those moments in the film. So, yes, we did rehearse over many years in real life for Thevar Magan. As a writer, when I showed him the lines, he smiled at me…he knew where I was coming from. Thevar Magan is a love story about Sivaji and me. I wanted to become him and he allowed me to become him and for that I am grateful. A lot of circles likes these have been completed in my life, in my film - his son accepted me as his own elder brother. KB saab (K Balachander) acting in my film, in my script…in Uttama Villain. I learnt everything I know from him. Lots of love went into making Uttama Villain, I am glad I got KB saab into the movie just in time. During the movie, he often asked me "What will you do if I die?” I told him he's taught me enough tricks, I can manage.

"I wanted to be a film technician”
However reluctant an actor I may have been, all actors have a price. As the price kept increasing, my reluctance kept decreasing. I woke up in this film industry when I was 3 and a half. When I later joined the industry as a technician at 16, I realised the engine was controlled by the backroom and I dreamed of becoming one.
"I see something special in you”, Balachander said
My mentor and visionary K Balachander who promoted me from a bit role actor to an actor with 4-5 scenes per film…he asked me what I wanted to become and by then it was clear he liked me. I told him I want to be a director like you. So you want to come to the studios in a autorickshaw? he asked me. "But you come in a car,” I said. Then Balachander said I could do better than that…I see something in you, he told me…you're training for it. Just make yourself a home, buy yourself a car and then think about it. You have it in you, any amount of training will not take that away from you, he told me. But I was very reluctant…I was a bit careless…I so hated the repetitive work, I ran away to Kerala to do more meaningful work.

"I am so touched by the love I get”
The films that I thought were the best in my career were outdone by masters who came up with better films.
In Telugu - Maro Charitra, In Hindi - Ek duje ke liye and then Sagara Sangamam…These are also my favourite films because when we were doing the films, we enjoyed it so much that we never thought about what will come out of it. Today, so many years later, when I see the love and affection in my fans' eyes, I am so touched by how grateful they are…I was doing a job and getting paid for it ( laughs). There are other films which were celebrated a bit belatedly - like Balachander's Avargal. It was in anger that he made Maro Charitra. Balu Mahendra's Kokila which did very well in Kannada, and Moondrampirai. Sadma did not do well at all. This new boy from South India who dances well in one movie is doing Sanjeev Kumar stuff in Sanam Teri Kasam...some of that did not work.
"The bigger you become, the more complacent you can become”
People who rely on GPS…all of you! Without a director, you can't move ahead. The director is the first mirror you see…that's where he comes in…The bigger you become the more complacent you can become…that's why we need a director, that's why you need co actors, technicians - everyone. We navigate with the help of each other.
When will we see a Rajini - Kamal movie?
We've been talking about it…some business expert will have to work out how to make a movie with Rajini and me after we have collected our fee!
"I get offended when…”
I'm doing a Hindi film now but I get offended when they ask is there also someone from the Hindi film industry….I get offended when I get dissected and separated like this. This happens in the industry - not the creative folks.

"I used to dance 7 hours a day”
I needed one more excuse to get out of school ( laughs). It (dance) started as a whim but I got sucked in. I was the audience when my sister was learning Bharatanatyam. I was drawn to it. My teacher was looking for a place to stay with his wife and small daughter and we had a room upstairs. His dance classes shifted there. He was a nice teacher and thought I should learn all forms of dance. I was 12,13,14….and it was 7 hours of practice every day. I wanted to become like Uday Shankar saab. I found that there were no backers for that. I was so upset, I threw my ghungroo into the sea and said I won't go back to that. I was ready to do anything, even mazdoori. But I got a job only because of my dance - as a dance assistant. At 18, I started co writing with RC Sakthi, at 19 I acted in a film I wrote. Many years later, we brought all that back with Birju Maharaj in Viswaroopam. For that movie, we trained with him for 2 months. He touched my head and said I see a young Birju in you. I said your style is not easy Sir, I have been watching you for 40 years. That is the depth of my love for that art.

Do film budgets force actors to do song sequences that are not necessary?
Absolutely, it's such a bare truth that we are trying to hide.

"When you crash with comedy, it's dead”
"Comedy is equally difficult. The accidents that can happen are far worse than what happens in action sequences. When comedy falls flat, it's dead. My training with Balachander he was capable of making a Bama Vijayam or an Arangetram. For me doing Mahanadi and Panchatantram is equally difficult. When I watch Mahanadi, when he reclaims his daughter, I cry. I become you and that is the success of the whole team.

"I owe my kids the freedom I had"
I was a very late child, I was suddenly a little toy who appeared out of nowhere. My eldest brother is 24 years older than me, the second brother Chandra Haasan who's my partner in my company is 18 years older - so everyone experimented with me. My father was 51 when I was born, I should have been named Oops Haasan. By 13, I was talking rationalism and did not participate in any of the religious things my father did. They allowed me to do that after a deep discussion. Now, when I give my kids freedom and they ask me why and I say I owe it.

"Our ambitions are oversized, skills training is limited"
The world requirement for engineers per annum is a million. We produce 900,000 of them every year. We have a situation where engineers are ready to become chauffers. What we need are skilled workers of international quality. I have thought about it very selfishly…we need to step up the quality. I am a worker myself…and it's not easy to learn skills in India. I was very fortunate to find kind gurus who paid me and taught me. Everyone wants to become an actor or director. Our ambitions are oversized. Straightaway we land up and want it all. We are recognising prior skills and listing them out in existing industries and enhance it with training. Now we aspire to have master carpenters, for example. Within the media and entertainment field itself the verticals are mind boggling. Within make up for example, you can have so many types of make up; within music production, there are so many specialities and we need well trained, world class people. The government is putting in some money - but remember that dole will not work. The industry has not yet invested money only time. Eventually, the indsutry will have to spend money, and not just sit back and complain. We are complacent that we have a captive market at home.

"Democracy is a vague word, it's like love"
I think we'll have to be on constant vigil. Freedom of speech is not like money in the bank. There's always some government, some institution trying to silence you. Allowing you to use expletives in cinema is not freedom. We are trying to reform the censor certification system - all that with clear understanding that nowhere will freedom of speech be troubled. If your manifesto is weak, you manifest hallucinations for people. When you have a strong goal and tenacity of purpose, any squabble can be settled. Yes, people are getting upset…you call yourself a nation but there's always a dictator lurking, there's always fascism lurking, there's always a left wing trying to prove that they're the only answer to all the woes of the world. We are now in a buffet system where there are all kind of political systems available. We have to pick and choose our political diet very carefully. I have never been comfortable with politics in India so why should I be now? Democracy is a vague word, it's like love. We have to keep raising our voice. We have seen other governments. Have they been saner? India has great responsibility towards itself in the world. We cannot bring in caste and religion. Religion will not and must not come in the way of the ascent of man.

Very good one.
We see some more additions to the existing list . May be more time allowed and with open minded audience. No strings attached.

Our man is defitinitely a "No - nonsense" kind. He is clear right from the age of 13 on his ideology front. So the only times he gets a compromise is for the art he loves so much?
That is phenomenal.
He is so admissive of the reluctance part of being an actor. How many of them today can say these things?

Someone who co wrote the script has complemented well and given all the space he wished . Great job .

I wish he does more of such mentoring and thoughtful sessions. Another " Mann Ki Baat "forum in a small and meaningful way.

Sincerely he should stop attending functions like the Audio releases , ribbon cutting etc. So much of his time (now limited) is being spent unwarranted. Hope my wishes come true.

http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y492/rhavichandran/kamal%20mahen_zps4ykbkhqk.jpg (http://s1277.photobucket.com/user/rhavichandran/media/kamal%20mahen_zps4ykbkhqk.jpg.html)

Charity based popularity can be manipulated easily.
How will we even come to know if it is really done silently?
Once a late malayalam actor's son told in a news paper interview, years and years after the death of his father, that one actor/star helped them to pay the hospital bills during the last days of his father.
Until then no one had come to know about this "charity". (Even after this interview, no media made it a big news as they would not have got paid for that)

I know some working people who give 15-20K to as charity and get the bill for 1-1.5L and claims tax benefit. (Yes, it happens)
Here these folks do for tax benefit. Same can be done by STARs for their popularity.

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is pretty active on Twitter. The Vishwaroopam actor constantly tweets about his thoughts on social issues and also updates about his films.

Kamal recently took to Twitter to share an interesting information regarding the title of his forthcoming venture directed by Rajeev Kumar. “I found a simple and exciting title for my new trilingual MI moving images. The Hindi title came from Saurabhji . The Tamizh from illayaraja”

Kamal Haasan, Ramya Krishnan and Shruti Haasan play the lead roles while ‘Maestro’ Ilayaraja head the music department. This film is said to go on floors from the 29th of April.

http://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/regional/kamal-haasan-to-revive-an-old-character-in-his-next-film-2772292/

Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan will bring back one of his most loved characters from yesteryear in his next yet-untitled trilingual project, which will officially launch here on Friday(April 29).
“It’s true that Kamal sir will be playing one of his most popular characters, and it’s tipped to be hilarious. He will officially announce it on Friday (April 29),” a source close to Haasan told IANS.
To be directed by Rajeev Kumar, the film will feature Haasan and his daughter Shruti Haasan as father-daughter for the first time on the screen.
Popular Telugu comedian Brahmanandam, Ramya Krishnan and Saurabh Shukla are already part of the project, which will be simultaneously shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
A majority portion of the film will be shot in the US, besides some scenes in India.
Maestro Ilayaraja has been roped in to compose the tunes.

Telugu veteran comedian Brahmanandam is on board for Kamal Haasan’s yet-untitled trilingual. We are also told that Kamal is bringing back one of his most celebrated characters in the film and it’s going to be a hilarious ride. Along with Brahmanandam, Kamal’s daughter Shruti Haasan and yesteryear actress Ramya Krishnan too will be seen in important roles. In the recent inaugural event poster of the film, the makers have given the caption ‘Meendum Varuvathu Yaarendru Therigiratha’ (Look, who is coming back?) and our sources too have confirmed that the actor is going to reuse one of his well received characters.

As we had reported earlier, the launch event of actor Kamal Haasan's next film will be taking place in the Nadigar Sangam Grounds on April 29. The event will be telecast live in the Ulaganayagan's Youtube channel from 8.30 am.

Now the inventively designed invitation of the launch function is out. The event apart from mentioning the date, time and venue has some unique Kamal Haasan touches. The striking headline says 'Meendum Varuvadhu Yaar Endru Therugiradha', a slightly twisted replica of the famous first line of the super hit song in Kamal Haasan's 'Viswaroopam'. A silhouette of a man carrying a gun with the US backdrop reminds us of 'Viswaroopam' and we will have to wait to know whether this film has any connections with the 2013 blockbuster.

The film is going to be produced by Haasan brothers (Kamal and his brother Chandra Haasan) under the Raj Kamal Films International banner in association with Lyca Productions. The film is yet to be titled and the invitation says that this will be the launch of the 41st, 42nd and 43rd production ventures of RKFI.

So is this going to be the simultaneous launch of three Kamal Haasan starrers? In a way Yes. The film to be directed by T.K.Rajeev Kumar will be a trilingual made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. Kamal has always insisted that in cases of his films made in multiple languages, each language version should be considered as an individual film. So you get what the invitation means. The numbers 41, 42 and 43 means the launch of the same film in three languages.

The film will have Kamal Haasan, Ramya Krishnan and Shruthi Haasan playing the central characters. Isaignani Ilaiyaraja is teaming up with Haasan after a long gap of 11 years to score music for this film. 'Thoongavanam' director Rajesh.M.Selva will work as the Executive Producer of this film.

The invite mentions that Kamal has penned the Story and Screenplay and there is no mention about the dialogues. Is it going to be Crazy Mohan? Well we will have to wait to know that.

http://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/regional/kamal-haasan-to-revive-balram-naidu-character-from-dasavatharam2774038/

Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan will revive the popular character Balram Naidu, a RAW operative from 2008 Tamil action-comedy “Dasavatharam”, in his upcoming yet-untitled trilingual comedy. It is slated to go on the floors in May.
“Kamal will play Balram Naidu in his new film. Audiences will be introduced to his family for the first time. It’s an out-and-out comedy flick interspersed with sporadic action sequences. The regular shooting will start from the second week of May,” a source told IANS.
Actress Ramya Krishnan will play Kamal’s wife in the film, which will also star Shruti Haasan as their daughter.
This will be the first time Kamal and Shruti will be playing father-daughter on the screen.
Veteran Telugu comedian Brahmanandam will play the character Appa Rao, Kamal’s sidekick, which was played by late choreographer Raghuram in “Dasavatharam”.

“Most of the film will be shot in the US. The makers have hired international make-up crew to take care of Kamal’s look in the film,” the source added. The film, which is being produced by Raaj Kamal International, will be simultaneously shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. National Award-winning actor Saurabh Shukla is also part of the cast. Maestro Ilayaraja, who has been roped in to compose the tunes, chose the title for the film’s Tamil version which will be officially unveiled on Friday(April 29).

http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y492/rhavichandran/balram-naidu1_zpstbffj6lv.jpg (http://s1277.photobucket.com/user/rhavichandran/media/balram-naidu1_zpstbffj6lv.jpg.html)

http://tamil.thehindu.com/multimedia/dynamic/02833/sabash-naidu_2833446f.jpg

This South India Heartthrob swooned many a women across the decades with not only his acting chops and intense look but also with his dance moves. Kamal Hasan has been in the industry since was a child.

In the late 1970s, he began his career as a lead actor in the South Indian film industry and has won so many accolades that one has lost count of his feats. Kamal Hasan has proven that a man can be of many talents. He has surpassed himself in each field of the film making world. He has received success as an actor, director, producer as well as choreographer, singer and lyricist.

There isn’t a thing that this man cannot do. Having had a interesting personal life where his marriage and divorce with actress Sarika is most highlighted as they have two very successful daughters Shruti and Akshara, Kamal Haasan has always been a magnetic personality and even at the age of 60, this actor is still to be reckoned with. Kamal Haasan is one of the top 10 richest actors in India having a net worth of $ 100 million which is a little more than his younger contemporaries like say Akshay Kumar. Kamal Haasan is a classic example of unconventional and there is nothing about him which can be described as normal, when he himself is so extra ordinary!

KAMAL'S 1989 CHANAKYAN - A MOVIE WHICH COULD BE ENJOYED EVEN TODAY

Chanakyan released in the year 1989 was an intelligently made film which was directed by Rajeev Kumar for whom it was his debut project. The expertise of the director combined with the stupendous performance of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan gave the audience a superb movie watching experience. Although the film was basically a revenge saga, Rajeev Kumar’s treatment gave Chanakyan a different feel.

Thilakan played the role of a CM, a powerfu antagonist and Urmila Matondkar his beautiful daughter in the film. Jayaram was the mimicry artist who was used by Kamal for his revenge. The current generation should watch this film to understand the briliance of Kaml-Rajeev Kumar team work.

Kamal had in fact said, "Rajeev started his career as a director with me in the lead nearly 25 years ago. I am sure when he is up and about he will have many more movies to direct. He has already done 25 films in his career. He will do 25 more and I’ll be in at least 10 of them.”

Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, who is currently directing portions of upcoming trilingual film “Sabash Naidu”, is said to be filling in for the film’s director, T.K. Rajeev Kumar, who is unwell and hospitalised.

“Rajeev is down with high fever. He has been hospitalised and he should back on the sets in a week. Kamal sir took over the reins of the project because he didn’t want it to get unnecessarily delayed, because they are working on a tight schedule,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

On Friday, when Kamal tweeted that he is directing a song in the film, rumours started spreading that he is ghost-directing the project.

“Kamal sir was just filling in for Rajeev. He’s just directing a song that we’re currently shooting,” the source said.

In the film, Kamal plays a RAW operative and the role is based on Balram Naidu, the popular character from 2010 Tamil film “Dasavatharam”.

Also starring Shruti Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Brahmanandam, Saurabh Shukla and Roger Narayanan, the film is being simultaneously shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

HOT: VISHWAROOPAM 2 RELEASE PLANS!

For people who are badly waiting to know about Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 which has not been in the news of late, we bring you something exciting. Looks like this biggie which is waiting to see the light of the day might finally hit the screens this year.

If recent developments are said to be true, the Vishwaroopam 2 team is eyeing a Diwali 2016 release. The film has had few issues which are likely to be sorted out very soon. V2 has a song, few patch works and post production works that need to completed. These aspects are likely to be addressed once Kamal completes his commitments for Sabash Naidu.

"I second the motion, see how clever he is..."

But yes, better he focus on Naidu/Kundu work THEN get his promotional window of time in order. No way, film is hitting Deepavali unless they are ready to forgo promotions and release it blindly ala Bhoologam. Did Aascar go bankrupt post Ai release after giving maha buildups?

Also other states have yet to see their repsective language versions (Telugu, Hindi) on TV, DVD, streaming, etc. Those other language medium rights (Satelite, DVD) yet to be sold, so one hopes they are sold as packaged deal for Part 2 and good promotion (refresher) for part 2.

Over the several months following the VR-1 release, we have been hearing that most of the shoot for VR-2 is already done during the work of VR-1 itself. And all that is left is a little bit of more shoot specifically for VR-2 and post production work.

From this article, we're not really hearing anything much different - few patchworks, a song and post production work has to be completed. I guess either none of what we have been hearing is done or they're doing it all anew based on changed geopolitical realities. Although Pongal of next year seems a bit more realistic. But at any rate, KH can and will do it ... if he sets his mind as he did last year with 3 movies! Of course issues related to production and funding are taken care of.

Kamal Haasan is recovering, says daughter Shruti

Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti has said he is recovering from a leg fracture.
Kamal, 61, today suffered the fracture due to a fall at his office and underwent surgery at a private hospital where doctors termed his condition as “stable.”

Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ to release before ‘Sabash Naidu’?

Ever since Kamal Haasan fractured his leg in Chennai a few days ago, all his projects have come to a standstill. This unforeseen accident has thrown a wrench in the shooting of the trilingual project 'Sabash Naidu'. But there might be a silver lining here.

According to reports, Kamal is trying really hard to release 'Vishwaroopam 2' before 'Sabash Naidu'. The actor co-produced the movie along with Aascar Ravichandran and now, there are talks that the Ulaganayagan is trying to buy the entire rights of the movie so that he can finally release the film that has been on hold for more than two years.

Only time will tell what the actor's plans for 'Vishwaroopam 2' are; meanwhile, the superstar is recovering at a hospital in Chennai after the unfortunate mishap.

He has withstood all this earlier and was going strong ... but now he needs to watch out take it a bit easy. Recovery from stuff like this takes longer with age. Permanent damage could occur as well.

Though the accident that has happened is unfortunate, it will be interesting to see how his hard work all these years in taking care of his body helps and aids in his recovery. If it does, it will definitely be a lesson for the younger ppl

Same producer for sequels of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan blockbusters?

A few months ago IndiaGlitz had reported that Actor-director Kamal Haasan's long delayed 'Viswaroopam 2' the sequel to his 2013 blockbuster is likely to hit the screens for Deepavali 2016. Now it seems the speculation is inching towards reality with a big production house trying acquire the film and release it under its banner.

Sources reveal that Supers Lyca Productions is in talks to take over 'Viswaroopam 2' from its producer Ascar V.Ravichandran. If the deal is clinched we can expect the film to be released soon.

Kamal Haasan revealed that he had shot more than half of the sequel before while 'Viswaroopam' released. Later the film went into oblivion as the producer Ravichandran, allegedly met with a severe finance crunch.

A few patch work and a song remains to be shot for the film. Kamal is presently taking rest in hospital after undergoing surgery on his leg and he has to comeback to shoot the remaining portions as he is the lead actor as well as director of the flick.

The much expected sequel stars Kamal Haasan, Pooja Kumar, Andrea, Shekar Kapoor, Zarina Wahab, Anand Mahadevan and many others. Ghibran has done the musical score.

We will have to wait for the official confirmation regarding the renewal and release of 'Viswaroopam2' before getting into any conclusion.

It is worth noting that Lyca is producing the mega budget '2.0' the sequel to Superstar Rajinikanth's 2010 blockbuster 'Enthiran'.

Wondering if true, how it'll go today ...

Kamal Haasan and K.S.Ravikumar to team up for a sequel?

https://igmedia.blob.core.windows.net/igmedia/tamil/news/kamal_ksravikumar_11816_m.jpg

In this era of sequels, what if a sequel comes from the screenplay king K.S.Ravikumar. The veteran filmmaker who is considered to be a producer cum audience friendly director was quizzed about the same in Yesterday's Press meet for his upcoming release 'Mudinja Ivana Pudi' starring Sudeep and Nithya Menen.

For this, KSR who has directed three Rajinikanth starrers and five Kamal Haasan starrer hinted that he might direct the sequel of his 2002 super hit comedy entertainer 'Panchatanthiram'.

Ravikumar said that Kamal Haasan narrated him the one line for the sequel and the story will be centered around the five women taking revenge on their mischievous husbands.

We hope this thought materializes soon and we get to see the sequel of one of the most memorable comedy films of Tamil cinema.

KAMAL HAASAN TO HAVE SUPERPOWERS IN HIS NEXT?

http://www.behindwoods.com/tamil-movies-cinema-news-16/images/kamal-haasans-role-in-meen-kuzhambum-mann-paanaiyum-photos-pictures-stills.jpg

A little birdie hints us that Kamal Haasan plays the role of a saint in Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum. Yes, you could say that is quite evident from the trailer. But we have another interesting fact here.

Apparently, the core storyline is about a father and his son who have opposite behaviors because of their age gap. And Kamal comes in as the game changer. What he does here is that he swaps the souls of this father and son. How they realize each other’s mistakes and what happens next forms the crux of the story.

Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum is a fantasy comedy film that stars veteran actor Prabhu, Kalidas Jayaram and Ashna Zaveri in the lead roles. Prabhu plays the father role while Kalidas plays his son.

Croix de chevalier de la Légion d’honneur (Medal of a Chevalier (Knight) of the Legion of Honour) is the highest order, followed by four other grades. It should not be confused with Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Fine arts and Literature). The former is delivered for excellance in civil or military conduct (established by Napolean Bonaparte in 1802), the latter as a recognition of significant contributions to the arts & literature for artists, writers and creators established on 2nd day of May, 1957 by André Malraux which was later recognised as a French National Merit by Former French President Charles de Gaulle in 1963.

Simply put, motive behind these two 'Chevalier' medals, delivered by different governmental bodies, are not the same. Legion of Honour is strictly for Civil Services and Military, issued by Palais de la Légion d'Honneur (Palace of Legion Honor), Paris. Whereas, l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres honours people who have contributed towards Fine arts and Literature, issued by Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication (Ministry of Culture and communication).

Satyajit Ray was honoured with chevalier de la Légion d’honneur in 1987 and Amitabh Bachchan in 2007, which are not similar to Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres received by Sivaji Ganesan in 1995.

There are 3 grades in Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and Chevalier (Knight) is the highest order. The other two are Officier & Commander.

Shahrukh Khan was awarded Officier (2nd Grade) in 2007 and Aishwarya Rai refused the Officier title in 2009 but later received the Chevalier Medal in 2012. Dr M. Balamuralikrishna was honoured with Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2005.

After Sivaji Ganesan (First Indian to be Honoured with Chevalier by the Order of Fine arts and Literature), Nandita Das (2008), Aishwarya Rai (2012), Anurag Kashyap (2013) & Kalki Koechlini (2014), Kamal Hassan will be sixth Indian Actor and Second Tamil Actor to be awarded with the Chevalier Medal. He is merited for his excellence in acting.

With huge joy and emotion, I share my heartiest congrats to my dear Kamal. The Grand Master's insignia, a medallion worn on ribbon, which he will be wearing on his left breast, brings me happiness, gifting myself with an immense pleasure of witnessing someone who is very dear and near to me, with the decorated silver medal on his chest.

And I take this very same opputunity to thank Kamal once again for all the fabulous works of art and culture he had participated and his tremendrous work towards it's upliftment. As a creator, Kamal is always Kalakal.

Hats off to all Namavar Kamal fans, indeed this triumph makes us all super proud.

Params,

Nothing great about manmadha leelai. Its all about the time. The time it was released, people were not used to that kind of a theme (from Shivaji, MGR, Gemini etc. movies). So must have found it rather catchy from its perverted and flirtatious outlook. Its not applicable anymore. I managed to watch it recently after a long time .... and was not a big deal.

Seems like even you enjoyed some pieces :)

The good part about doing this subject is it will be a quickie and will follow SN, VR2 and in succession. We will get a triple treat in under a few months time. So let us feel happy with that strategy.

Point is he has to be on a roll , active and keeping the creative juices of acting, producing, scripting and also keeping his promise of giving back to his fans and we'll wishers. He promised that what ever he is doing now is just bonus trying to repay his love and affection for the millions who adore him in all the Industries he has been successful.

So my take is, just keep him excited and he will deliver multiple avatars in the same year.

Way to go Kamalji

Also, will we ever get TI/Amar Hai to start even rolliing? Im tired of hearing this remake, that remake. It's gotten to a point when so-called heroes are churning movies faster than nammavar. Yes, I adore him for being active, but being a home production, doesn't mean it should be taken slow. Also, I hope he puts more promotions in other languages too. Take Bahubali for example. Telungu-le, Rajamouli didn't even have to promote there, just visit other states for their language releases and do more press work there. I know it's not in KH's control/plate, but Im sincerely hoping with Lyca on board with Sabhash Kundu/Naidu (and I hope they buy Vishwaroopam 2 rights in all languages, leave that aascar out), things turn around. I don't want more remakes from Nammavar. I want more content like Vishwaroop2, Thalaivan Irukundaran, etc.

Kamal Haasan recalls his two memorable Diwali releases

Celebrating the anniversaries of the super hits and films that are memorable for any reason is catching up as a trend in Kollywood. Now it seems Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is no exception for this trend.

This week saw the anniversary of two of the veteran actor's memorable films. Director Mani Ratnam's 'Nayagan' in which Kamal played the lead role and won the National award for Best Actor released on October 21, 1987. The Friday last was the 29th year of 'Nayagan' release.

Likewise today (October 23, 2016) is the 21st anniversary of Kamal Haasan's 'Kurudhi Punal' directed by P.C.Sreeram. The critically acclaimed film released on October 23, 1995.

While the Deepavali festival is fast approaching, it is worth recalling that both the films released on the Diwali festival of the respective years. Kamal Fans in social media are avidly celebrating the anniversary of these two films of their Ulaganayagan.

In remembrance of these two films, Kamal Haasan tweeted thanking the fans for remembering these two films even after these many years.

Kamal Haasan

@ikamalhaasan

Touched by admirers remembering Nayakan & Kurithippunal. Hoping to make you happy in future. Applause gives my life and art more meaning

Looking forward to his releases ...... the wait has been quite long

Sources tell me that it was Gautami who initiated the separation.
Mostly with regard to Kamal's frustration and depression, caused by not getting producer for Viswaroopam 2 and technicians abvsconding after the injury during Balram Naidu shooting.
Mostly financing problems.

This is unfortunately adding to his woes. Although he's reached the pinnacle in his career, issues pertaining to his unfinished/unreleased movies, new projects has been lingering for a while. He has had no releases this year. His latest accident recently and a long recovery time probably got him very depressed. Looks like she decided to move on ...

Who knows what the current status is. Since no information has come about SN in the last 3 months, no one knows it will be revived. Since UV and Thoonavanam did not do good business and SN in the doldrums and the other movie which has been nearly completed (VR2) not getting released, it is but natural to feel frustrated

http://www.dnaindia.com/entertainment/report-kamal-haasan-gives-clarification-about-his-denial-statement-on-split-with-gautami-2269894
Subhash K Jha | Thu, 3 Nov 2016-05:39pm , DNA

Kamal Haasan clarifies: My denial statement was in reply to a long indecent letter in Tamil addressed to Gautami ji in my name.

I have known Kamal Haasan long enough to be considered a part of his inner circle. I’ve seen him go through several crises in life, blows delivered by fate that would have left us ordinary mortals devastated and writhing on the ground.

But Kamalji (we address each other as ‘ji’ as he insists on doing with everyone including his own children) has picked himself up each time and gathered together all his strength to emerge a champion survivor. A born fighter, a cogent thinker ,an intellectual and an atheist, Kamlaji is all of this, and more. Some day soon I hope to put together my biography on this fascinating man who loves cinema more than his own life. And loves his daughters more than even cinema.

The latest blow, and the one that was least expected, came this week, just days ahead of his 62nd birthday, when his soul-mate Gautami decided to leave him. Kamalji didn’t want out. She did. He tried to reason, protest, cajole, plead and pacify…But she was adamant. He then gave in to her wish and let her go. As I watch him struggling with yet another trauma I wonder why some are chosen for special bumps from the powers above. Time and time again Kamalji has been walloped on his heart. When his second wife Sarika and he parted ways he was shattered and battling the bottle to get over his grief. This time he is stronger, perhaps wiser.

On Tuesday he spoke extensively to me on the sudden emotional trauma in his life. We decided to put out a few lines only about the break with Gautami. A few hours later an angry fan of Kamalji put out a nasty letter in Tamil lashing out at Gautamiji in Kamal Haana’s name.

Kamalji was shocked and he reacted on Twitter against the indecent violation of a very sensitive space in his life by an overzealous abusive fan. Jumping on his words a section of the media presumed he was reacting to his quotes on the break put out by me.

Let it be stated once and for all that I would never need to manufacture quotes from Kamalji. Explains Kamalji, “That was in reply to a long indecent letter in Tamil addressed to Gautami ji in my name. The letter tried pitifully to sound like me and used coarse language hooded in archaic Tamil. My twitter reaction was to that letter. I tweeted in Tamil. You are a friend and yes. I spoke to you.”

Kamal, the only White hero in Black Money World - 'Viswaroopam 2' producer

The surgical strike on black money holders by Prime Minister Modi has forced the common man to form queues in front of banks while the state and fate of the real hoarders is as yet unknown. Meanwhile the Tamil film industry is facing a crisis of sorts as many shootings have been stopped midway and other projects that were on the verge of beginning have postponed.

Aascar Ravichandran, the producer of ‘Viswaroopam 2’ has opened up about the issue to a leading Tamil weekly and has stated that in the black money world of cinema Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is the only hero who receives all payments through cheques whether for crores or a few hundreds. The wish of millions of Kamal Haasan fans is for the magnum opus ‘Viswaroopam 2’ to release and Aascar Ravi’s statement here signals that an early 2017 release could be a possibility.

He is quite outspoken without much care for the consequences. It is to be applauded.

One has to note that he does not strongly support OPS, which is probably the correct stance. After all, who knows more about OPS other than that he has been a spineless second fiddle all his life. Rather, KH comes out against the "system" and the "political class" which has let down people all over India time and again. Both the NDTV and IndiaToday interviewers tried to pin KH down to talk about local politics and egged him on to take a sides and a for/against stance, which he refused, time and again.

I wish other celebrities speak out their mind.

Kamal Haasan questions Sasikala's attitude and The Democracy

The Supreme Court’s verdict convicting Sasikala and her cohorts with a jail term of four years and 10 Crores each fine seems to have had little effect on them as they coolly went about doing their jobs and decided to surrender at their own pace.

Kamal Haasan who is vociferous in his political observations nowadays has stated “When the people shout “Thief” shouldn’t the persons run helter skelter, but instead they all seem to respond as if they were lovingly called out to….Where is democracy”

http://behindwoods.com/tamil-movies-cinema-news-16/images/kamal-haasan-opens-up-about-vishwaroopam-2-photos-pictures-stills-4.jpg

Kamal Haasan has some good news for all Vishwaroopam franchise fans. Yes, the Ulaganayagan took to his Twitter space to clarify on what is left and why there is a huge delay in the film’s release.

Kamal says that he is working on means to clear all the obstacles. He claims that the bigger issues have been sorted out but there is some technical work and some legal issues too. However, the post-production work might take 6 months. So we are not going to see this spy-action thriller anytime soon.

“4 all looking forward to VR2. Am personally getting in 2 clear the path. Bigger obstacles are out of the way. Whats left is technical & legal. But bear with my team and me. Post will take 6months” - Kamal Haasan

TN trust vote: Kamal Haasan says people should welcome their MLAs with the ‘respect they deserve’

CHENNAI: After Edappadi K Palaniswamy ministry won the confidence motion in the Tamil Nadu assembly on Saturday, actor Kamal Haasan, who had earlier voiced his displeasure for any hold of AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala on state's politics, tweeted that the people of the state should welcome their respective MLAs with the "respect they deserve back home."

Later, he tweeted the e-mail id of the governor, rajbhavantamilnadu@gmail.com. He exhorted people to email their grievances to the governor.

Actor Arvind Swami went one step further and tweeted: "This was not the people's mandate and the only solution under the circumstances was a re-election."

Actor Suriya Sivakumar tweeted that it was the people of Tamil Nadu who were seen to be "eating mixture." This phrase is a metaphor derived from a popular Tamil movie comedy scene which means sitting still while many other things were happening. Eating mixture was also attributed to former chief minister O Panneerselvam when he was seen as a dummy of VK Sasikala after J Jayalalithaa's death.

Actor Siddharth tweeted: "Give #Sasikala a laptop in jail. Save transport cost (our money) for #EKP and his gang for four years. Time to put more salt in our food #TN."

Indian actor Kamal Haasan who attended the function had few nice things to share about the Queen of England and also recollected his Marudhanayagam shooting days when Elizabeth II (Queen) had visited Kamal Haasan’s set during her brief stay in India.

“The Queen seemed in good health and remembered her visit to India fondly. The Duke of Edinburgh was in great shape and health as well. The exchange was brief as there were too many people. Earlier this morning, we had reported that the post production works of Vishwaroopam 2 have resumed. We have some more exciting updates following that!

When we contacted our reliable sources to know more about the film's progress, they said that the film is almost over. Only a week of patchwork shoot is left out, and the editing is believed to be in its finishing stages. It was also told that the film would be released much faster and sooner than the audience expect.

Meanwhile, Rajesh M Selva took to Twitter to share his updates about Vishwaroopam 2. He tweeted, "Yes, Vishwaroopam 2 revived..! Post works with the same old crew back in action. Exciting..! #Vishwarooam2 @GhibranOfficial @kunal_rajan. Vishwaroop2 (Hindi) and Vishwaroopam2 (Telugu) dubbing in progress.! It's gonna be much bigger than Vishwaroopam. #happycrew #Vishwaroopam2."

Music director Ghibran also shared his happiness about this by tweeting, "Started working on #Vishwaroopam2! Excited and thrilled as it's my first film started with Sir @RajeshMSelva @kunal_rajan".

proficient in yet another talent ...

Kamal Haasan's another amazing talent

We all know that Kama Haasan is not only multi-talented but also multi-lingual. Apart from his mother tongue Tamil, the veteran star actor is proficient in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. And the Ulaganayagan's flamboyant skills in English and its various accents and dialects needs no introduction.

Now we get to know that the actor knows another language that is sign language.

Prominent sign language expert and anchor Vijayalakshmi in her exclusive interview to IndiaGlitz has revealed that Kamal is so proficient in sign language and he can communicate with the deaf and dumb people in the language they can understand.

"Once I went to meet Mr.Kamal Haasan to invite him for a function with my students. He started talking with the students in sign language and eliminated my work of interpreting his words to them. He also knows American sign language." Vijayalakshmi recounts.

At 62,the ageless Ulaganayagan never ceases to amaze us indeed!

Vishwaroopam 2 will be even more volatile, says Kamal Haasan

http://media2.intoday.in/indiatoday/images/stories/647_050417104614.jpg

On Tuesday, veteran actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to unveil the first look poster of his much-awaited Vishwaroopam 2, which went viral on the internet.

Ever since the release of the first part, fans have waiting with bated breaths for the sequel, which is touted to be high on action. On Tuesday, Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to share the first look poster of Vishwaroopam 2, which created waves on the internet.
Though the release date of the film is yet to be locked, Kamal Haasan says that part 2 will be even more volatile than Vishwaroopam. Speaking about the film, Haasan was quoted by The Quint as saying, "In the sequel of Vishwaroopam you will see many more layers to my character. You just wait and watch. The sequel will be even more volatile. We'd get into my character's antecedents. The highlight of the sequel would be Jaideep Ahlawat."
Vishwaroopam spawned several heated debates across the country, as a ban was imposed on the film in Tamil Nadu. Notably, Kamal Haasan was used as a pawn in the game of politics. So much so that the actor wanted to leave India.

"I was labelled an anti-Muslim. I wonder where these groups were when I was being attacked for Hey Ram 17 years ago. At that time my film was a threat to the saffron colour. In Vishwaroopam it was the colour green. Only the colour changes. The pattern of illogical protests remain the same. I am against any kind of terrorism, whatever its colour: green, saffron or khaki. I love all Indians regardless of their religion," said Haasan.
Vishwaroopam hit the screens on February 7, 2013 in Tamil Nadu and went on to become the highest grossing Tamil film of that year, raking in more than Rs 200 crore at the box office.

Directed by Kamal Haasan, the film starred Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Shekhar Kapur in pivotal roles. Produced by Haasan's RaajKamal Film International, Vishwaroopam 2 is expected to release this year.

Is Kamal Haasan finally taking the political plunge? Subhash K Jha asked him.

You are back in the news.

This is not what I want to do, or be.

I am not here to make news.

I have much larger plans which have nothing to do with me.

Are you finally taking a plunge into active politics?

Did I say that? What makes you think that?

You were at a DMK event on Thursday.

I was, and I am glad I did.

I was there not as a political animal, but in support of and admiration for the DMK newspaper Murasoli which completed 75 years.

Seventy five years in this era of instant news and overnight journalism! Wouldn't you want me to be there with you when you complete 75 years?

I doubt it.

What? That you will complete 75 years? Or that I will be on stage with you?

Both. But tell me when you made that jibe from the stage about how you would rather do things for self-respect than self-defence, were you aiming at Rajinikanth?

No.

Why would I want to take a jibe at my friend and colleague whom I've known and loved for 40 years?

Mr Jha, you want me to heckle a dear friend?

Well, it seemed like that's exactly what you were doing.

Then it seemed wrong.

I was taking an aim at all those who refuse to stand up against corruption.

When you don't take a stand against corruption you tacitly support it.

And I am not talking about only the corruption in Tamil politics I am looking at a pan-Dravidian India, free of corruption.

How can you single-handedly free Indian politics of corruption?

Let me at least try. Do you mind?

If my idol Mahatma Gandhi could fight to eradicate corruption at the age of 78, why can't I try at 60?

Do you see corruption as the scourge of Indian politics?

I absolutely do.

And I want to fight it until my dying breath.

The whites took their skin-deep whiteness with them but left behind the blackness of corruption.

Today, that blackness is destroying the very fabric of our democracy.

What according to you is the solution?

A performance-oriented democracy.

Make our representatives in Parliament accountable. They cannot sit in power for five years without showing results.

We should work towards a legislation to sack non-performing politicians.

This may not happen during my lifetime, but I will try for it anyway.

Are you joining the DMK?

That question again.

Mr Jha, are you looking for your headline for the day?

No, I am not joining the DMK.

But I am in support of any organisation that stands against corruption.

Like I said, I was up there to support their newspaper's platinum jubilee.

They (the DMK) had sent me a telegram to join their party 30 years ago.

Are you responding to that telegram now?

No, I would rather be like Mahatma Gandhi, sending out my own telegrams to the world.

In fact, my daughters call me Bapu.

What according to you ails Indian politics?

We are not exercising our democratic rights properly. We need to stop looking for solutions in others.

All of are politicians waiting for our political calling.

If we don't listen to those warnings within our heart we will destroy our hard-earned freedom.

As Kamal turns 65, a look back at his most memorable films...

Subash Babu - Malayala Manorama, November 10, 2019

If there is one man in the history of Indian cinema who deserves to be called Sakalakala Vallavan, it’s Kamal Haasan. Ever since his debut performance on the big screen as a child artiste in Kalathur Kannamma (1960) won him the President’s gold medal, the multitalented showman never had to look back. As the man turns 65 and prepares to release his next biggie, Indian-2, this edition of Dress Circle looks back at his memorable works as an actor, screenwriter, director and producer n the past six decades.

Starring: Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie Shankar, Narain
.
Story: A mysterious gang of vigilantes seems to be targeting 'corrupt' officials. Who are they? What are their motives? Amar (played by Fahadh Faasil), who is a member of a secret intelligence unit, is asked to find out.
.
3 out of 5
.
An action film - plenty of action scenes - if you like that sort of thing, you will enjoy the film.
.
For me, this was the first time since the pandemic that I went to watch a film in a theatre, so that was nice.
.
But I felt it didn't match the hype. Usually Kamal Haasan films are a little 'different', e.g., Indhiyan, Kuruthi Punal, Dasaavathaaram, Aalavandhaan, etc. - whether good or bad, he usually presents something 'different', but this film was just like any other 'masala' film, with the punch dialogues and 'sentiment' scenes. I felt it seemed more like a Rajinikanth film than a Kamal Haasan film.
.
Kamal Haasan gives his usual style of performance, he has enough scenes to perform his usual dramatic style. Fahadh Faasil gives a good performance, Vijay Sethupathi's performance was a little disappointing.
.
There were some references to other films by the same actors, which was a nice touch.
.
So overall, not a bad film, but I felt it didn't match the hype.

Vikram is the work of Lokesh
It is inter-linked with his earlier film, Kaithi
Probably seems average to you, without this knowledge
In this Loki-verse, Vikram was awesome - everyone played their roles so well from the main leads to the tiniest of character like Agent Rani
Even the cameo by Suriya was par-excellence

I can't wait for both Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2
Hail Lokesh!
