PULI IS FUN, FLASHY AND FASCINATING!
We get to see a yet another tantalizing glimpse of Vijay¡¯s Puli with the 2nd trailer, which was released some time back today, the 23rd of September. Puli looks to be a complete spectacle from scratch to finish from what we see from the minute long trailer.
Just like the previous series of video extracts, this trailer too, starts with the image of a gigantic palace. It looks like a cleverly cut trailer, which contains many images from the previous trailer yet it looks very fresh and appealing. The makers are very clear that they do not want to give away too much and keep the audience guessing for a few more days till the 1st of October.
What fascinates the most, is the fantasy elements in the trailer. Not one bit of those utterly unimaginable elements looked tacky. Especially the final shot where Vijay faces a giant size tortoise holding a Lilliput man in his hand, was exuberant to watch.

The second theatrical trailer of Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Puli is a pure visual extravaganza that the CG works are extremely impressive comparing to Indian standards.

Even though I say it's 'just' a week away, I can assure you it is going to feel a loottt longer than that :)

Would be exciting to see Vijay in a new genre and hope Devan has done justice to this massive opportunity.

When my family proposed the idea to travel to Nagercoil on October 1, was thrilled as I would watching a Vijay movie in Nagercoil for the first time. Would be watching it on the 2nd of Octover. Have always heard how strong Vijay's fan following is down south in Nagercoil and Tirunelveli. Would be exciting to see the response.

Sorry guys, watching it FDFS in Chennai is out of the equation now, but we should plan to watch at least one Vijay movie together.

While the second trailer of ‘Puli’ that has released last evening has been receiving tremendous response form fans and general movie buff here we have an interesting update about Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s 59th film directed by Atlee.

After finishing schedules in Chennai and ECR the unit is currently canning some scenes in Annai Illam the house of Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan. Interestingly Sivaji Ganesan’s son and actor Prabhu plays the role of Vijay’s father in ‘Vijay 59’.

Scenes between Vijay who plays a police officer in the film and actor who acts as a politician in the film are being canned in the house of the legendary actor. Many vehicles resembling police jeeps could be spotted in the front portion of Annai Illam. The shooting is expected to take place here for the next three or four days.

The yet to be titled film has Vijay, Samantha, Amy Jackson, Radhika Sarathkumar, Prabhu, director J.Mahendran, Motta Rajendran and many others in the star cast. G.V.Prakash takes care of the music and the film is produced by Kalaipuli.S.Thanu.

Vijay's 'Puli': advance booking starts, tickets sell like hotcakes
The advance booking for Vijay's "Puli" has kick-started in Chennai and the tickets for all the shows at many theatres have been sold for the opening day.
An online ticket booking website gives a clear picture of the advance booking. Over 10 cinema halls started the advance booking in Chennai and in no time, the tickets for the prime-time shows were sold.
The tickets were given for more than 100 shows and at least 80% of the shows are house-full by now. Cashing in on the occasion, multiplexes have increased the number of shows and some exhibitors have dedicated all their screens to "Puli" on the release day.
Majayjaal multiplex alone has 54 shows on the release day in Chennai. The screen count is expected to reach record number by Wednesday (30 September), a day before the release of "Puli".
The tickets for Thursday to Sunday are also expected to be sold in advance. The response is just an indication of the craze around "Puli". However, the advance booking in other parts of Tamil Nadu is likely to begin on Sunday, 27 September.
This also confirms that "Puli" is going to get a fantastic opening at the box office. Considering the huge Rs 100-crore budget for the film, Vijay's flick should make a stupendous business on not just the first day but also during the entire weekend to recover the production cost at the earliest.

Sridevi is so spectacular she steals the show in this trailer. Of her role, Sridevi had said, "It's a character with multiple layers. I'm not playing a typical queen we read in fairy tales." This is Sridevi's comeback Tamil film, she was last seen in 1986 movie Naan Adimai Illai

The second trailer of upcoming fantasy drama film Puli released on September 24. The trailer features Vijay, Shruti Haasan and Sridevi - and how. Vijay is at the top of his game on the action front, but Sridevi provides a spectacle so spectacular that she completely steals the show.

Sridevi, who plays the role of a queen of an ancient kingdom, is shown in myriad moods - rage, manipulation and triumph. This is Sridevi's comeback Tamil film, almost 30 years since she starred in 1986 movie Naan Adimai Illai.

Of her role in Puli, Sridevi told news agency IANS: "This is the kind of the role you get once in a lifetime. It excited me so much that I jumped at the opportunity without much contemplation. Actress Shruti Haasan, who is starring opposite Ilayathalapthy Vijay for the first time in Puli, is eagerly waiting for the film's release on October 1. The highly anticipated fantasy-adventure has been directed by Chimbu Devan.
In an exclusive chat with dna, Shruti Haasan reveals that fantasy is one of her favourite genres and shares her experience of working inPuli.
You worked with Vijay for the first time in Puli.
It was a very good working experience. As everyone knows, Vijay’s a very big star and has a huge fan following. He’s quite focussed on his work, keeps to himself and brings positivity to the work.
What attracted you to the script – other than the Vijay factor of course?
I think it’s the fact that Puli will appeal to all members of a family audience. Everyone can go enjoy it and find something that they like in this film. I think that’s rare for a movie to accomplish. Because of the mix of fantasy and the way it’s been treated like a commercial film, it pulls in different kinds of audiences - this is what is really exciting about this kind of a film.
Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music. Did you enjoy singing the song with Vijay?
Yes, very much! I’ve always enjoyed singing. I’ve worked with Devi before; he’s a very talented musician. He’s excited about music – not that other people aren’t - but he’s a very positive and energetic kind of person. To sing for him in the studio was a really fun experience. It’s usually rare that actors can sing and perform so it was wonderful to collaborate with Vijay on the song Yendi Yendi.
What do you think about Vijay as a singer?
I’m not a critique or one to judge but to be honest, he’s a fantastic singer!
Did you enjoy working with Sridevi?
I’ve always been a big admirer and fan of hers. Sridevi is one of the few actresses who has crossed language barriers and so many other barriers. I’ve always looked up to her and modelled myself on the way she deals with so many different kinds of audiences and been able to do so many different genres. For me, to work and with her and be able to speak to her in a work environment, was very nice. To see her working was something I was looking forward to. I must say she’s so dedicated, driven and focused that she brings much determination and positivity to her work. There was a lot to learn from her!
And Chimbu Devan?

This is exactly why even Atmus is distributing themselves in US. SMK posted an email extract from Atmus a few days back.

Also, saw a comment about censor impact. First of all I don't believe censor officials pass any such info to outsiders, else no flop film will ever get distributed/released. If at all censor has impacted in any way, it has to be positive, else why would the top boss of CBFC (Pahlaj Nihalani) buy the Hindi rights and seal the deal the very next day after censor was done.

Chimbudevan has once again appealed to not compare Puli with Baahubali since both films belong to completely different genres. He has also hinted that Shruti Haasan plays an even more important role than Hansika, who is likely to get less screen time in the film.

As for Karnataka, there is a Kannada movie of Darshan releasing here. Theater chalking is going on here. On one hand Vijay is competing with superstars of KL and KA, whereas some find it tough even to get distributors in their own state.

You know the level of frustration when someone starts posting Kerala rights, UK screens etc where Vijay is second to none. Best to ignore him...as I said, he will not be seen here early next week. He will come back on Wednesday night and all Thursday, posting every negative review (mostly written by kamalji type of people) here. Its solid entertainment for us though.
