Best Theme Music / Song

TV theme music!
A new phenomenon - when somebody's cellphone rings, pay attention - most likely it will be to the tune of some familiar TV serial song! Thats how popular these serials have become - creating its own range of team and crew.

Everyday, we are being greeted by these songs, which builds up an anticipation among the followers of the serials. Some of the more prominent names of Tamil Filmdom such as Balamurali, Vairamuthu, Unni, Nithyasri, etc are utilised to attract the viewers.

Theme songs from Annamalai, Manaivi, Metti Oli, Rudra Veenai and Sahana were nominated.

Sahana drew a lot of interest, which was surprising as the song was carnatic based and really not easy to sing. Many felt that this song lacked the oomph required for a TV serial.

But the real battle was between uyirgal pirappadhu paasaththukaaga and ammi ammi ammi mithiththu.

And the award for the best TV Serial theme song goes to.....

Best Actor/Actress in a Negative Role (Villain)

God! How do we hate these villainous creatures who spew misery upon misery upon of favourite people. Strangely, the more you hate, the better an actor/actress they are.

Women dominated in this category proving hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. :)

In the race were Manjari as the scheming Tamizharasi in Annamalai,
Nalini in Kolangal, Shanti Williams as the evil mother-in law of Saro and Suganthi in Kungumam. The sole male nominee, Vasu Vikram, who did such a splendid rle in Chithi and now in Manaivi performed dismally. To save all round embarrasment, let me not reveal the figures. :)

The battle lines have been drawn and the war for the worst creature of 2004 is on. Who will it be? Thamizharasi or Rajam?

Best TV Actress 2004!

Beauty takes a step back in TV serials. Unlike their counterparts in Films, Serial actresses need to know how to act. There is no need to dance semi-dressed or play a minute supporting role. Using own voice is also compulsory. Who among the many actresses have these qualities?

Nominations were received for Devadarshini, the ara-loosu in Annamalai, Devayani in Kolangal, flashy actress-turned character actress, Kushboo in Kalki and Kungumam, (nilaa adhu vaanathu mele) Kuyili for her ever-suffering wife role in Annamalai and Renuka as the Bhrathi kanda pudhumai penn, very much divorced, but very much an acute business woman.

The race was between the Devadarshini who played a mentally-deficient person through 700+ episodes and Kushboo who shone in her roles in Kalki and Kungumam.......

Best TV Serial Actor 2004!

Like in actresses, TV serial actors do not need good looks or manly physique. The closer they are to the ordinary man, the better their chance of potraying reality.

Many 80s stars have migrated from cinema to TV and YG Mahendran (Sahana) is no exception. But besides him, none of the earlier stars made it to our nomination list.

Abishek (Kolangal/Kalki), Chetan (Metti Oli), Venu Arvind (Aadugiran Kannan), Vijay Adhiraj (Annamalai/Manaivi) were the chosen people for this polls.

Trend showed that Annamalai and Metti Oli would again be people’s choice.

So, who is your choice for the best TV actor?

Best TV Serial Director

Churning out episode after episode five days out of seven is no mean feat.

And then there is the clash of personalities. Radaan’s asthaana director CJ Bhaskar was shown the exit in January 2004, leading many to wonder about the future of the serial.
Not only did it survive, but also ran for exactly one more year before wrapping up in January 2005!
Replacement Sundar K Vijayan was the beneficiary.

Thirumurugan, who also appears in an important role in his serial, was the director of the hugely successful Metti Oli. Naga, director of Chidambara ragasiyam – another Radaan production, was also popular with voters.

Eventually the race was between…. Yes, Annamalai and Metti Oli!

Best TV Serial 2004

Here comes the most anticipated award :D There were 5 nominations: Annamalai, Chidambara Rahasiyam, Kolangal, Metti Oli and Sahana.

Being home grounds, Annamalai & Chidambara Ragasiyam were expected to have a good innings. Rightly so, both started receiving good number of votes on the first 2 days, and of course the hugely popular Metti Oli too received good response. Around mid week, it was clear that the chances are slim for Kolangal and Sahana.. CR too found no takers and was slowly joining the loser's league.. .

That meant it's between Annamalai & Metti Oli to slug it out.. Will Metti Oli retain it's spot as the 'international' favorite? Will the Annamalai fan hubbers help to dash Metti Oli's chances?

Around end of polling period, the picture was getting clearer who the obvious winner is going to be.

It was...

The time has come to announce who among the Hubbers had made a selection (nomination) closest to the final results.

Are you ready? :D

A total of 10 hubbers participated in the nomination exercise, excluding Admin and Moderators.

We awarded one point for each accurate nomination. Thus maximum for a hubber was six points. Since both Annamalai and Metti Oli shared no. 1 spot for theme songs, many hubbers who nominated either, managed to earn a point.

Of the 10 nominations received:

1 got it all wrong and didn't get any points
3 received 1 point each
3 got 2 points
2 managed to get 3 points

And the remaining hubber?
