Speculations have been circling around the show town until now that Samantha might be the lead lady of the upcoming Vijay-AR Murugadoss project. While checking up with our sources, we are informed that Samantha has indeed been confirmed by the team. The young siren will pair up with Vijay for the first time in her career.

AR Murugadoss is planning to rope in some amazing young talents for the film. Anirudh has been taken on board as the composer and George C Williams, who worked for Raja Rani will be helming the camera for this massive project.

Our sources also tell us that the project might kickstart by December end.

AR Murugadoss makes it official!

Today November 13 is Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s AR Murgadoss directed Thuppakki ‘s first anniversary day. The film released on November 13, 2012 and was a mega hit.

Thuppakki is Vijay’s highest collecting film and after that the combo of Vijay-ARM was keen to team up again. Ayngaran International who had produced Vijay’s Villu came forward to back the project.

Now it has become a reality. On Thupakki release anniversary day AR Murgadoss has tweeted : “ I’ m really happy and excited to convey you all that I’ m joining hands with VIJAY sir once again...”

The grapevine has it that the film will start rolling from January 2014. Anirudh has been signed as the music director for the film which may have Samantha as the heroine.

AR Murugadoss – Vijay project for Deepavali 2014?

With Jilla nearing its completion, Vijay is all set to move on to his next project with AR Murugadoss. The yet to be titled project is expected to go on floors immediately after Pongal. To be precise, the team is planning to begin their film between 15th and 18th January 2014.

Samantha will pair up opposite Vijay for the first time and comedian Satish will also do an important part in the movie. Composer Anirudh, cinematographer George C Williams and editor Sreekar Prasad have hopped on board.

I dont think so, ARM had been very good in giving short and sweet romantic portions in his films...... in Ghajini, the love flashback was the main reason for it's super hit, likewise in Dheena, Thuppaki etc., Ramana had no time for romance but it still had lovely love scenes (father-kid in flashback, uncle-kids in the main story).... 7th sense la mattum than konjam not-so-special ah irunthathu.... :)

One thing that has been repetitive in most ARM movies are the female leads are shown naive Dheena (laila), Ghajini (Asin), Ramana (Ashima Bhalle), Stalin (Trisha) and lately Thuppakki (Kajal)

I think on heroine part ARM lacks a bit. But its not just ARM many ace directors are doing it frequently.

Off late Mumbai has been playing host to some of the biggest Tamil films including the massive hit Thuppakki. Now, for the upcoming partnership of Vijay and A.R.Murugadoss in 2014 the action looks to be shifting to a new city.

Sources tell Behindwoods that A.R.Murugadoss and his team are currently in the City of Joy, Kolkata, scouting locations for what appears to be the Vijay project that’s aiming to take off in early 2014. While this may not be the first instance of a Tamil film being shot in the bustling streets of Kolkata - films like Aadhavan, Majnu and Jay Jay had sequences based in the very same city, but one can expect Murugadoss to show the place in a completely different light.

A.R.Murugadoss will be employing the services of the highly acclaimed young cinematographer George C Williams for this venture and will also be teaming up with a certain other young sensation, Anirudh, for the music making this one of the most eagerly anticipated projects of the coming year

IIRC, Except Siddique and to a lesser extent Perarasu, directors while working with Vijay for 2nd time had mostly faltered (either totally or at least in box office)......... Kannukkul nilavu (though I liked this one) after Kadhalukku mariyadhai, Aadhi after thirumalai, villu after pokkiri, kuruvi after ghilli, Vaseegara (most favorite vijay film though it bombed at BO) after ninaithen vanthaai, Youth after Priyamudan and so on..... hopefully VJ will be able to break this sentiment this time..........

It is known that Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay’s next outing will be with his Thuppakki director AR Murugadoss and it will be commencing very soon. In the Ner Ethir audio launch held recently, Director AR Murugadoss had opened up regarding this film that, “Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is a mother kind producer who stood, care and makes sure that the movie isn’t get into any sort of troubles for the movie throughout (He was the producer of Thuppakki and Ner Ethir if mentioned). I have locked the script for upcoming with Vijay and the title hasn’t zeroed in yet”.
This much expected action entertainer features Samantha opposite Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay for the first time. Cinematography will be by George C Williams of Raja Rani Fame, Music by Anirudh and Produced by Ayngaran International.

"Ilayathalapathy Vijay after the success of his Jilla has moved on to his next project with AR Murgadoss. Samantha is the heroine.

The untitled film will be produced by Ayngaran International, with Anirudh as music director and Raja Rani cameraman George Williams as cinematographer.

The shoot will start from February first week. It will be completed in six months and gearing up for an August release. Kolkata seems to be a major backdrop for the movie. The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that the Vijay film will be titled Vaazh (Sword), though there is nothing official about it.

Vijay and AR Murugadoss project- Right on timeFeb 03, 2014
As planned, Vijay and director Murugadoss’ next project goes on floors today (3rd February 2014). The team is in Kolkata for the shoot and the schedule is expected to go on for a few days. Following that, the next set of shoot will happen in Chennai from the 12th of February, say sources.

Jointly produced by Ayngaran International and Lyca Productions, the movie is being planned to be wrapped up in 5 months. Anirudh will score for the movie and George C Williams of Raja Rani fame will helm the camera.

It is also speculated that Vijay might have a dual character and that the movie could be a Diwali 2014 release.

WHY IS VIJAY-MURUGADOSS PROJECT THE MOST ANTICIPATED?


“I’m waiting”, he said and that’s what it required to draw all the attention. Thuppakki released and world knows the rest of the story.

Who could’ve pulled off an army captain, better than Vijay did in that film? He rocked it with his extravagance, style and charisma. But, the brain behind the movie, director AR Murugadoss deserves the major chunk of the credits.

Heroisms contribute the most to the success of a proper commercial pot boiler. Audiences love these moments. But overdoing it can backfire very badly.

AR Murugadoss knew the pulse well, used his hero to the fullest and created as many “moments” as possible that made the audiences burst with goose bumps.

Intelligent heroisms were the USP of Thuppakki, be it the climax or the 12 executions or the sleeper cells in the cupboard. For instance, when it comes to saving a sister, Vijay is the man and he is always at his best. But AR Murugadoss chose to be unorthodox about it and sends in a dog to terrorize the terrorists. The mongrel that belongs to Vijay… Wasn’t that enough for his fans to erupt like never before? Making the hero’s presence felt, even without actually showing him on screen, shows the director’s command over the craft. Together, Vijay and Murugadoss struck the right chord among the audience and more than anything, they became one of the most favored director-actor duos of the recent times that people love to see more often.

Now that they have come together for another innings, let’s talk about why this project is the most anticipated movie of 2014. AR Murugadoss has brought in some of the current favorites of the masses for this venture. To begin with, Samantha plays the female lead opposite Vijay for the first time in her career.

Her alluring looks aren’t the only factors for her massive fan base, but also her choice of projects. The actress’ last two outings in Tamil, Naan Ee and Neethane En Ponvasantham gave her meaty scopes and a lot of awards. So, judging her by the choices she has made till now, her role in this mega budget project shouldn’t be a typical commercial cinema heroine who makes glamorous appearances in the songs. That said, expect some surprises and meat in her character.

The other highlight of the movie is the change in the composer. AR Murugadoss pulls back from his long association with Harris Jayaraj and joins with the young and happening Anirudh. It would be interesting to see if the Ethir Neechal composer, who has continuously been delivering musical blockbusters mostly with up and coming actors, has it in him to handle a star as huge as Vijay.
Thirdly, the director generally puts in a lot of thought into the visuals of his films and he has always preferred to work with the masters of cinematography like Santosh Sivan, Ravi K Chandran and RD Rajasekar. But this time, he picks up a young and upcoming cinematographer, George C Williams, whose splendid compositions in Raja Rani were of course the talk of the town, and delegates him with the duty, which the legends of the stream have been doing all along for the director.

Now to the biggest curiosity element of the lot – Ilayathalapathy Vijay. When he is doing a film with the director, who gave him one of his biggest projects, the expectations are of course sky high. Most of all, Vijay is touted to be playing a dual role. If this is indeed true, the greatest crowd puller would be the answer to the most curious puzzle- the true face and the mask of Vijay, in the movie. After all, the secret of a good drama is also surprise.

In a nut shell, this project has experience, mastery, mass and youth working on it. If this project indeed gets released on Diwali 2014 as planned, expect fireworks that are explosive at its best and equally radiant.

That's because he is wearing boot cut which is a much better look than flares.Thalaivaa flares were okay, but Kuruvi Villu flares were horrible. Refer Olli olli idupe and Nee kobapattal. Because of his perfect upper body V shape and long legs, skinny fit would suit him best. Remember alaika laika, he looked his best there. In short, skinny and boot cut suits tall lean guys, so Vijay should go for them (atleast for me to drool he should wear them more often :P )

"Bengali actor Tota Roy Choudhury has not just landed himself the antagonist's role in director AR Murugadoss' upcoming Tamil film, he also secretly shot with the unit in Kolkata recently. The film has Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Samantha in the lead.

A source from the unit told us, "We shot a major chase sequence in the bylanes of Kolkata for four consecutive days starting last Monday. The shooting is being held from midnight to 4 am."

When we got in touch with Tota, he confirmed the news, stating "Working with the Ghajini maker is an experience in itself. Not only is ARM sir brilliant at his job, he is also extremely humble. He would always answer my queries with a smile."

In the film, Tota plays an international gangster — Vivek Banerjee. To track him down, cops take the help of a criminal mastermind (Vijay). After a cat-and-mouse chase in Kolkata's dark, dingy gulleys, Vivek is grievously injured and put behind bars. He swears revenge against Vijay, but when he meets him next, Vivek realizes that the man is the dummy of the original.

"Vivek is known to break jails easily. For the jail sequence, we will go to Rajahmundry on February 21. Then we will head to Hyderabad. Though the title of the film is yet to be decided, Vijay's fans have named it Vijay 57, as it happens to be the 57th film of the actor," said Tota.

So, how did he land the role? "Since Vivek is a Bengali, they wanted an actor who could speak fluently in the language. Though initially there were talks of taking the actor from Mumbai, they changed their mind," said Tota."

The next schedule of the untitled Vijay - Murugadoss project, which began rolling in Kolkata, will happen in Chennai from tomorrow (12th February 2014) onwards. "Bengali actor Tota Roy Choudhury has not just landed himself the antagonist's role in director AR Murugadoss' upcoming Tamil film, he also secretly shot with the unit in Kolkata recently. The film has Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Samantha in the lead.

A source from the unit told us, "We shot a major chase sequence in the bylanes of Kolkata for four consecutive days starting last Monday. The shooting is being held from midnight to 4 am."

When we got in touch with Tota, he confirmed the news, stating "Working with the Ghajini maker is an experience in itself. Not only is ARM sir brilliant at his job, he is also extremely humble. He would always answer my queries with a smile."

In the film, Tota plays an international gangster — Vivek Banerjee. To track him down, cops take the help of a criminal mastermind (Vijay). After a cat-and-mouse chase in Kolkata's dark, dingy gulleys, Vivek is grievously injured and put behind bars. He swears revenge against Vijay, but when he meets him next, Vivek realizes that the man is the dummy of the original.

"Vivek is known to break jails easily. For the jail sequence, we will go to Rajahmundry on February 21. Then we will head to Hyderabad. Though the title of the film is yet to be decided, Vijay's fans have named it Vijay 57, as it happens to be the 57th film of the actor," said Tota.

So, how did he land the role? "Since Vivek is a Bengali, they wanted an actor who could speak fluently in the language. Though initially there were talks of taking the actor from Mumbai, they changed their mind," said Tota."

That's because he is wearing boot cut which is a much better look than flares.Thalaivaa flares were okay, but Kuruvi Villu flares were horrible. Refer Olli olli idupe and Nee kobapattal. Because of his perfect upper body V shape and long legs, skinny fit would suit him best. Remember alaika laika, he looked his best there. In short, skinny and boot cut suits tall lean guys, so Vijay should go for them (atleast for me to drool he should wear them more often :P )

As reported earlier Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay is shooting for AR Murugadoss's new film at Chennai international airport. At first the team shot some scenes involving Vijay, Samantha and Sathish, yesterday reportedly the team has shot a song with Vijay and group of dancers. The song is said to be choreographed by Shobi master and people who are present at the venue were amazed by Vijay's terrific dance moves.

The untitled film is being produced by Ayngaran and Lyca production. Called as Vijay 57 the film has music by Anirudh and cinematography by George C Williams.

It is known that after the tremendous success of Thuppakki both Vijay and AR Murugadoss are currently working together for an untitled new film which is being produced by Ayngaran and Lyca Productions.
As we said earlier Vijay will be acting in dual role and sources say that AR Murugadoss has roped in a Bollywood based hair stylist to showcase Vijay in two different getup. Vijay - Murugadoss to repeat the Thuppakki sentiment with 'Vijay 57'

After completing successive schedules in Kolkata, Rajahmundry Andhra and in Chennai, the team of 'Vijay 57' are currently cooling their heels thanks to a little schedule break. The next schedule which happens to be the fourth, will happen in Hyderabad and the total filming is expected to carry on till July / August. If all goes well, the film will hit the screens for Diwali just like the earlier Vijay - Murugadoss offering Thuppakki which was a Diwali 2012 special.

Vijay has already had a release this Pongal with Jilla and even in 2012, he had a release for Pongal in the form of Nanban. 2012 was really special for the Ilayathalapathy as both his Pongal and Diwali releases got him a very good name. Will 2014 follow suit and prove to be equally special for Vijay? Let's wait and watch.

You gotta be kidding - First, your comparison is infantile. Moreover if Sachin scores a 90 in one game every 3 Years then he would not have been a Prodigy and everything in between would be considered a failure. and Sachin nor his fans would claim to have a hit a century when he scored 10 runs.

A.R.Murugadoss was quick to come out in the open to downplay Thotta Roy Choudary’s role in his upcoming film with Vijay by saying that Roy was just one of the villains and that the main baddie was yet to be cast. Now the director has confirmed casting Bollywood hero Neil Nitin Mukesh as Vijay’s nemesis in the yet to be titled film.

Neil Nitin Mukesh has had an up and down career in Bollywood as a lead but can be proud of doing a variety of films over the past 7 years since his debut.
