Like how fans would go berserk to book tickets for the FDFS; the distributors across the world are trying their best to acquire the rights of ‘Kaththi’. The South Indian rights are already sold out, and Shibu Thameens, who brought the Kerala rights has said that the movie will feature in more than 200 screens all over the state which is on par with Kerala Superstars.

Now the big news is MM Media will jointly distribute the movie along with Lyca Productions, all over U.S.A & Canada in more than 250 cinema halls; a record number for any Tamil film till date. The distributors have confirmed the movie release for Diwali. The pictures of ‘Selfie Pulla’ got released this afternoon, and started doing its viral round within seconds.

We had earlier reported you that the Telugu audio launch of Kaththi is likely to be take place on 12th of October but now it looks like the film's audio launch has been postponed to October 20. Though there is a delay, buzz is that Megastar Chiranjeevi is likely to attend the audio launch and the entire star cast of Kaththi will be attending the function.
Sources say that Kaththi team is trying to get the censor certificate as soon as possible and then they will kick start the other promotional plans including the trailer release.

Vijay's Kaththi is on a record-setting spree
Vijay's reach and popularity know no boundaries and the star's movies are popular not just in TN, Kerala and Karnataka, but also in overseas markets such as UK, US, Malaysia, Sri Lanka to name a few.
In the USA, till date the record for the maximum opening screens for a Tamil film is held by Kochadaiiyaan with 104 screens. Now Kaththi looks all set to beat that opening screen count record with 105 screens. MM Media, the distributors are heard to have already booked 90 plus screens.
After a new opening screen count record in the UK, a new benchmark in the US is also in the offing. Kaththi is definitely gaining some solid momentum.

Lyca Productions the producers of Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Kaththi, are very happy. They have been able to sell all areas at high price and is getting very attractive MG’s from Tamil Nadu theaters.

After selling the rights of Kerala distribution to Thameens and Telugu rights to Tagore Madhu, Lyca have sold the Karnataka rights to Goldie Films – a company which distributes Bollywood movies in Karnataka. With that, Kaththi’s South Indian distribution trade is over.

Meanwhile, Kaththi’s Canada distributor – Ayngaran Canada has announced a record release of 20 screens in Canada, the highest for any South Indian movie there. In Malaysia also, Kaththi’s distributor is looking at 120 screens, another new record for any Indian movie.

The numbers are yet to come for Gulf, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Australia. At this rate, we can expect a new record opening in overseas markets.

After phenomenal success of Holiday, the Entertainment actor seems to be keen to work with AR Murugadoss again
Director A R Murugadoss Kaththi (Knife) starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay has been in the news constantly over the last few months. The movie is all set to release for Diwali on Oct 22 but the latest buzz is that it may be remade in Hindi! Apparently, action star Akshay Kumar has shown interest in the film and is eager to see the final product. Having worked with Murugadoss in Holiday (remake of Thuppaki), it looks like Akshay was keen on checking out Kaththi to see if it was right up his alley.

Post Kaththi, Murugadoss is headed to Bollywood to start work on his original Hindi script which is woman-centric starring Sonakshi Sinha. We wonder if the director will work on the Hindi remake of Kaththi (if all goes well) post this project. Will 'Kaththi' Reinstate Vijay's Supremacy at Box Office?

"Consistency" was the watch-word of Ilayathalapathy Vijay at one point of time in his career. Between 2000 and 2007, the actor, who is now gearing up for the release of "Kaththi", was part of a series of hit movies that made him appear like unstoppable.

However, to everybody's shock, the actor lost his momentum and his films started failing at the box office after 2008. However, his career saw a recovery in 2012 with two hit films, but again a few films in the next years just turned out to be average grossers. Now, he is returning with "Kaththi" and people are looking forward for the film to see whether it could reinstate his supremacy at the collection centres.

The last couple of years have been crucial for Vijay. It is because the actor has equally tasted success and failures. There was a time when the actor's films were easily becoming money spinners and the demand for his films was high.

The time seems to have changed now. Like others', he too has to fight hard to be in the race and his last two films "Thalaivaa" and "Jilla" are examples of it. Though the films had decent and family-appeasing content, could not keep the cash registers ringing.

While the failure of "Thalaivaa" could be solely blamed on the controversy over the release, the performance of "Jilla" was a bit shocking for the industry. Even after getting fantastic opening, it could not stay long in theatres in the state. So, the success of his latest movie "Kaththi" has become very crucial for the Ilayathalapathy. The industry and fans have kept huge expectations from this film for the simple reason that the film marks the return of successful Jodi – Vijay and AR Murugadoss.

Vijay and AR Murugadoss had delivered blockbuster "Thuppakki" in 2012. So, people want them to create a similar magic. And this comes as a blessing for Vijay as it will ensure a fantastic opening and lay a strong foundation for the film to make strong business at the box office. And, it could also possibly prove that the "Ghilli" actor still commands a big market in Kollywood.

Kaththi spells great news for the Tamil film industry
From the black & white era, the history of film projection has come a long way to the point of high-definition visuals we enjoy today. IMAX is one such marvel from technological advancements, providing us maximum quality since it has the capacity to record and display images of greater size and resolution than conventional film systems.
In India, a few cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad are already enjoying IMAX with Chennai having a long wait.
The sensational news is that, the Lyca produced, AR Murugadoss directed, Vijay starrer Kaththi will be an IMAX release as well, for this Deepavali, in countries like Netherlands. KATHTHI, WORLD PREMIERE IN DUBAI ON THE 21ST?

Kaththi is all set for its worldwide release on the 22nd of this month, which is just a week away. Ticket bookings are expected to take off in a couple of days, as fans are waiting to flock to the big screen to see Ilayathalapathy Vijay in action.

On that note, sources say that the world premiere of the film will be held in Dubai on the 21st, a day before the film hits the screens. However, it is unsure whether the team of Kaththi will attend the premiere.

Meanwhile, though rumours have been floating around that the trailer of Kaththi will be out today, it has now been put to rest saying that the trailer will hit YouTube on the 20th or the 21st alone.

ANIRUDH AGGRANDIZES KATHTHI - BGM LOCKED !

Anirudh who was super busy for the past two weeks has finally locked the background score of much expected diwali release, Kaththi. Anirudh tweeted "Successfully completed the #bgm background score of #Kaththi now, a day before my birthday :) Diwali pattaasu ready!".

As Kaththi background score has been locked, now it is expected that the makers will start dispatching the digital prints and KDM to overseas distributors. Mean time, the Tamil Nadu distributors of Kaththi are busy booking maximum theaters for the film and also Lyca is trying to release in highest number of screens outside India.

Kaththi is expected to be the biggest released for a Tamil film in USA, UK, France, Kerala and many other locations.

KATHTHI ROUNDUP - REWIND, RECAP AND RELOAD
A captivating lawyer in Thamizhan, a sincere tea kadai owner in Bhagavathi, a smart cop in Pokkiri, a romantic college student in Sachein and many other memorable roles played by Ilayathalapathy Vijay remain close to our heart even today. His upcoming film Kaththi has two more - reportedly, as a protagonist and an antagonist. This is his third attempt at dual roles, after Villu and Azhagiya Tamil Magan.
Lets take a look at what has happened with Kaththi so far:
Kaththi – Initial days
The ideation of Kaththi started way back after the blockbuster hit of Thuppakki. In 2012, A.R.Murugadoss known for back to back commercial hits, had tweeted that he was happy to be working with Vijay for another project. By September 2013, Kaththi happened, and Samantha was decided as the heroine. Lyca Productions joined hands with Ayngaran International as the producers of the film. By March 2014, the film’s crew was confirmed and Kaththi was officially announced to release on Diwali. ARM took a call on deciding Anirudh as the music director, Lalgudi N. Ilayaraja as the art director and George C. Williams as the cinematographer. It was also reported that actor Neil Nitin Mukesh will make his debut in the Tamil industry in an important role in the movie. By the look and feel of the crew, it was at the right place to deliver a perfect youthful Tamil commercial flick.
Lights, Camera, Action
After getting set with the crew, it was time to create that magic onscreen by the 'mass king' Vijay and the sizzling Samantha. In a traditional South Indian manner, the 'poojai' of the film happened in Kolkata on 3rd February 2014. The film’s first schedule took place in Hyderabad and Kolkata. By July 2014, it was reported that 60 percent of the movie was over. Along came the promotions on the digital platform letting the audience interpret the film's communication tone. The crew started working on the climax by August 2014. The patch works, fight sequences and song visuals were all done by 30th September 2014. It was the ideal time for an official trailer after this, but the director has chosen to keep it a secret till now.
Voice of the movie
Any movie grabs maximum attention prior to the release through its audio launch. Similarly, Kaththi seized the interest with Anirudh’s entertaining music that was launched on 18th September 2014. The songs were vibrant and well-suited for the current generation. Music scores like ‘Aathi Ena Nee’ and ‘Selfie Pulla’ hit the young crowd directly. Though it is not the first song sung by Vijay, 'Selfie Pulla' did impact me by taking me back to the 'Althota Boopathy' days. Also, the official teaser of the movie was unveiled during the audio launch, which became a massive hit on the digital platform.
Out in the light – Kaththi promotions
It is not just enough to make a grand movie like Kaththi. It is also equally important to communicate all the right things about it. The first still from the movie was released on 22nd June 2014 on Vijay’s birthday followed by many more in the subsequent weeks. The ‘Selfie Pulla’ song sung by Vijay crossed more than a million views in YouTube. Further, the 'Selfie Pulla’ contest was a huge success in Twitter, where people were asked to pose in front of a Kaththi poster and click a selfie. Given the pull that selfies have among the youth, it was a timely strategy to tap into this crowd and enable a chance for them to take a selfie with Vijay. Also, the team had a mobile game released to enthral fans.
The movie has created a huge hype amidst the crowd and is expected to be a complete entertainer. Kaththi is surely at the rim of my bucket in the must watch list of Diwali releases.
