In a breaking news update, the director of Vijay's upcoming movie, A.R.Murugadoss has updated that the title of his movie is Kaththi. Earlier, it was rumored that the film has been tentatively titled Dheeran but now such speculations have been cleared with this major announcement.

Samantha is Vijay's co-star in the movie and the team is currently shooting in Hyderabad in searing heat. Lyca Productions are funding this mega budget movie, which has Anirudh's music and George Williams behind the camera.

We must say that the title Kaththi is massy, sharp and suits a big action star like Vijay. Good choice, team.

Young actress Samantha who is back in Tamil with two interesting projects Kaththi with Vijay and Anjaan with Suriyaa opened up in a recent interview, about the former film that is being directed by A.R.Murugadoss.
The Naan Ee actress known for her candidness has spoken much in awe about A.R.Murugadoss.Currently shooting under his direction in Hyderabad, Samantha said, she has always been in awe by Murugadoss and loved his Ghajini as well as Thuppakki. Samantha appreciated the director for giving equal importance to lead female roles in his films, recalled how his cool attitude wiped of her initial tensions about shooting for such a big project.

Director AR Murugadoss had sent Vijay fans into a tizzy after announcing the short and to-the-point title Kaththi. To cash in on the upbeat mood, word is that the team is working towards revealing the first look of the film in a couple of weeks, specifically on April 14th.
One may recall that Thuppakki’s first look too was released in the month of April in 2012 with the film coming out for Deepavali the same year. This is likely to be the plan of action for Kaththi too.
With reports suggesting that Vijay will be appearing in a double role, it will be mighty interesting to see how much the first look poster will reveal along with the title design. Meanwhile, the team including heroine Samantha are chipping away in Hyderabad at the moment.

After the withdrawal of Santhosh Sivan’s Inam fr
om the theatres for its alleged support to Sri Lankan govt, now the Tamil Eelam issue has moved to Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s upcoming movie Kaththi. The film directed by AR Murugadoss is being shot in various cities and stars Vijay and Samantha in the lead. The movie’s songs are by Anirudh.
The controversy about Kaththi is due to one of its
producers, who is supposed to be an ardent supporter of
Rajapakshe. Kaththi is a high budget movie and it was
earlier said that Ayngaran International will produce it. But
as Ayngaran alone could not bear the high production cost,
another corporate got into the production, namely Lyca
Productions. The owner of Lyca, Subashkaran Alliraj, is
supposed to be close to the Sri Lankan president
Rajapakshe and has availed several business contracts for
his mobile company using his influence in Sri Lanka.
Lycamobile is a virtual mobile phone networks that
operates in several countries.
Various Tamil organisations across the globe are in a state
of shock after coming to know of the involvement of Lyca
in the movie Kaththi’s production and they are now gearing
against Vijay and Murugadoss. They allege that they are
waiting for a response to their letter to Vijay asking him the
reason for opting to do a film by joining hands with those
who killed thousands of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Apparently,
the Tamils across the globe want Vijay to withdraw from
the film.
It has to be recalled that Vijay’s earlier film, Thalaivaa got
into trouble due to some outfits and the film ended up as a
failure. With new dark clouds in the horizon about Kaththi,
it needs to be seen whether Vijay will be able to tide over
this issue smoothly or not!

This accusation of links between Lyca and MR came up very recently and what has Vijay to do with that? After issues during his latest releases, he obviously wouldn't have signed this project if he knew of these issues.

Earlier there were rumours that the IlayathalapathyVijay – AR Murugadoss project, Kaththi, jointly produced by Ayngaran International and Lyca Productions, will face problems due to the alleged association of the movie’s producers with the Sri Lankan government.
Rubbishing all such rumours, Ayngaran International’sKarunamoorthi said, “Ayngaran has been in the industry for a long time - we have distributed around 2000 movies in foreign lands. And, in regard to Kaththi, Lyca Productions is supporting us financially. That’s it. All the rumours circulating that we are working alongside the Lankan government are entirely false and baseless.”
Regarding the movie, he said, “Ilayathalapathy Vijay plays double role in the movie. 40% of the shoot is completed, and the movie will be out by Diwali.”
Samantha plays the heroine in Kaththi, and Anirudh scores the music.

Vijay's Kaththi set for Diwali release :
Tamil superstar Vijay's upcoming action film Kaththi will hit the screens this Diwali, said its co-producer Karunamurthy, who has collaborated with Subhaskaran to produce the film.
"We have decided to release the film on Diwali. There will be no change in the release date. We have completed about half the film," Karunamurthy told IANS.
A.R. Murugadoss is directing the film and this is his second movie with Vijay after Tamil blockbusterThuppakki, which also released on Diwali in 2012. (Also Read: Vijay to share screenspace with Sridevi)
There's no sentiment attached to the film's release date, says Karunamurthy.
"We are not releasing our film on Diwali because Thuppakki had also released on the same day. Stars' films are usually lined up for festival release and since Diwali happens to be the next big festival, we are releasing our film on the same day," he added.
The film also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Neil Nitin Mukesh in important roles.

AR Murugadoss’ next directorial with Ilayathalapathy Vijay, Kaththi is progressing at brisk speed. Coming after the combo’s blockbuster Thuppakki, Kaththi is one of the most expected projects of this year.
From what we hear the team is at present shooting some night sequences in Valasaravakkam, and the shoot will go on for three - four days. Reportedly, the team will shoot some sequences in Chennai for around 15 days before shifting to its next schedule.
The movie is produced by Lyca Productions. Samantha and Neil Nitin Mukesh are the other leading stars in the movie. Anirudh scores music for this movie.

Vijay to take a break
Team Kaththi has been working round the clock to finish the project soon and release it for Diwali 2014. Currently, Vijay, Murugadoss, Samantha and the rest of the team have been stationed at Pushpa Gardens, Valasarvakkam.
The team, led by director Murugadoss has decided to take a week’s break before going for a ten-day shoot at the same location. An intense action block will also be shot during the schedule, we hear.
Also starring Satish, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Tota Roy, Kaththi is being produced by Lyca Productions. Anirudh is scoring and George C Williams is wielding the lens for the film.

Music composer and singer Vishal Dadlani has crooned for a track from Vijay's upcoming film, Kaththi which is composed by young composer Anirudh. Kaththi – a long and tight one coming up
We are back with yet another update on Kaththi. Now that AR Murugadoss’ Bollywood film, Holiday starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi, has released and going strong as expected, the director will resume the shoot of Kaththi. Starring IlayathalapathyVijay, the film’s next schedule will begin on the 10th of June in Chennai.
We hear this schedule is going to be a long one and a tight one for the team, as they are looking to wrap up the project soon and release it on Diwali, 2014.
Starting from June 10th the shoot will go on until the mid of July. A part of this schedule will also happen in Hyderabad, we hear.
Starring Samantha, Satish,Neil Nitin Mukesh and Satish, the film also has Anirudh’s music and George C William’s cinematography.

ANIRUDH CHANGES HIS POLICY FOR VIJAY
Anirudh always incorporate the 'one time saranam' in his songs and many of them topped the charts, in fact it has became a trend now. The latest is that Anirudh has changed his policy and used two saranam for the song which is to be crooned by Ilaiyathalapathy Vijay in Kaththi, the specialty is that the composer has changed his usual policy only for Vijay's song and the remaining songs of Kaththi will only be having one saranam.

Maan Karate was a letdown except for one or two numbers... VIP though bit repeating with only 2 vocals, worked well for me !! As said by fellow hubber, any MD is ok for Vj's films... Addition of Anirudh is furthur enhancement to the film :)

Brilliant. .thanks for sharing that Kumaran. Just saw it for the first time. He was asked why he didn't pursue ARM to do Holiday in Tamil (i.e. Thuppaki) also with Akshay..for which Akshay said ARM had already committed to do the tamil version with Vijay even though Akshay bought the rights first.

The shooting for Kaththi has been
happening in Chennai in a huge set erected
in Pushpa Gardens for the past 40 days or
so and the team completed their schedule
just few days back with a sumptuous
biriyani treat by Ilaiyathalapathy.

Now, a source in the know reveals us nearly sixty fighters were involved for this portion in
the film. No, the team was not filming any
spectacular stunt scenes as you would
naturally think. It’s a scene involving
terrorists where they hold around sixty people as captives. Stuntman for the film, Anal Arasu,
apparently requested AR Murugadoss to use
his fighters for this particular sequence.

ARM and Vijay instantly agreed to Anal’s
earnest request. Usually, fighters get to
act only for a day or two when their scenes are scheduled and their remuneration is among the least. This uninterrupted shooting for nearly 40 days on a trot has helped them mightily in terms of money. The entire team of fighters thanked AR Murugadoss and Vijay for this great opportunity, we hear.

Oh man...speechless. I honestly didn't expect this kinda first look. Vijay's eyes give such an intense message. The one where his face is half greyed out indicates the 2 different sides of Vijay in the movie. Mindblowingly creative.

Still can't get over the title design. Just seems bleah.

The title design has a sort of growth in it, which is amazingly fit. Depicting the 3 letter title vertically projects the growth more.

Look at the Vertical Title :

- Take the KA, its present in all the 3 letters.
- 1st KA is empty, while the 2nd KA has a short line above it.
- Now look at the 1st & 2nd KA alone, the short line under the 1st KA, which acts as the "Pulli" for the 2nd, seems to have grown below the 2nd letter. Thats in horzontal POV.
- Similarly, applying the same vision vertically, the small line had magically grown into a full "Kumbu" for the 3rd KA.

The dot is the magic maker in the design.
