We had reported earlier that Vijay had rendered his voice for a melody song in Jilla along with Shreya Ghoshal.
Well, we've got news that the song is titled "Kandangi Kandangi". The lyrics for the song have been penned by Vairamuthu and Imman has composed the music. It must be noted that Kandangi is a type of saree that is hand woven in cotton.
The shoot for Jilla is happening at a rapid pace and the release of the movie is expected to happen during Pongal next year. Recently Vijay and lead actress Kajal Agarwal had shot for a song in Japan.

Recently Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal were in Japan shooting a romantic song. Now they are shooting another song in a set created in a Chennai studio. Later they will be leaving for Madurai for completing some patchwork scenes.

Meanwhile post-production work of Jilla is going on in full swing. Mohanlal will be dubbing in his own voice for the film. The CG work is also going on simultaneously and producer is trying to get first copy ready and censored by December end.

As reported earlier, Vijay and Mohanlal starrer Jilla is being planned for a Pongal 2014 release and here are some exciting developments regarding the project. Our sources close to the team inform us that the unit is ready for their final schedule.



The team will supposedly begin their final schedule on 16th November. The first three days of the schedule will happen in Chennai and the team will shift to Hyderabad to finish the rest. The film will be wrapped up around the first week of December say sources.


Directed by Neason, Jilla has music by Imman and cinematography by Natarajan Subramaniam. Kajal Aggarwal is pairing up with Vijay in this movie and RB Choudary’s Super Good Films is producing it. The distribution rights of the film have already been sold out, we hear and Mohanlal himself will be releasing the movie in Kerala.

I only wish Jilla does'nt pull out. Yes, the theatre count will come down and hence all the BO numbers will be lesser but there will be a point proven. Vijay has already done that in the past (2005) and against an even stiffer competition.

But the the budget of the movie also has a say here. Sachien wasnt a big budget movie. So it was worth a risk. There was an interesting point mentioned in the article posted by Rachel in the Veeram thread. Ajith and Vijay movies competing against each other is not much of a problem. Because they have mutually exclusive set of fans. But bringing Rajni into the game will make things tough. Interesting days ahead. :)

With Vijay's Jilla all set for a Pongal release, all eyes are now on the audio launch date of the film. When we queried the team on the planned date, December 15, Sunday is what they have said. This date isn't final yet and the other logistics, practicalities of the function are still to be worked out as the filming process hasn't been completed yet. A teaser and trailer are also expected to be released in the month of December.

Distributors of a few areas have already come out with theater listings for Jilla and it has clearly taken the lead in booking theaters, among all the Pongal releases. Veeram and Kochadaiyaan are the other runners in this grand race, which promise to set the cash registers ringing.

Singam 2 was released in 150 screens and so a Mohanlal - Vijay combo could get close to 200 theaters..The final numbers can be known only on release day.. Jilla could get around 200 if not more if B class theaters are also included..

SK pictures( they are doing Jilla travancore area also) has given advance to Veeram and but they are finding hard to get theaters and they are ready to resell the rights for a lesser price but no body is willing to to buy it as Jilla is also releasing..so SK pictures are in tough situtation now..

As of now Veeram will not be postponed in Kerala..it will release along with TN..

Add to that, the directors Naesan and Shiva, both of whom, one is not sure what to expect.

Last time around Pokkiri definitely had bigger buzz thanks to the Telugu connection and Prabhudeva. This time it is definitely Even-Stevens. Ajith is coming off a successful run and Vijay-Mohanlal combination makes for one thrilling experience. We are in for one interesting battle.

As Pongal is nearing, a war has erupted over social media especially Twitter between fans of Thala Ajith and Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Remember, both their films Vijay’s Jilla and Ajith’s Veeram are slated for release on January 10, for the big Pongal weekend.

Ajith and Vijay have a huge fan following, which always gets them a huge opening. The fans are fanatical about their heroes as hero worship cult prevails big time in Tamil cinema from time immemorial. In the 80’s and 90’s star power was identified with huge banners, larger-than-life cut-outs, garlands and bursting of crackers.

All that has changed with the advent and growth of social media. Today, fans celebrate and glorify their heroes on Facebook and Twitter, which gives them more reach and instant recognition. It also comes free and fans, without any restriction go berserk in idolising their stars or running down the rival star in most abusive terms.


Today Ajith and Vijay fans are at each other’s throat showcasing their fanatism by creating provocative hashtags. And they are able to trend with these downright silly hashtags that hits out at each other. Remember these hashtags are all India trends, making Tamil cinema the butt of ridicule. Even in Bollywood where there is more competition between rival stars, the fans don’t indulge in such silly gimmicks.

Meanwhile both the actors in private are good friends. Sundar Raju leading production controller in an interview has said that Ajith and Vijay are best of friends. He says during the making of Mankatha and Velayutham, Ajith cooked Biriyani for unit of both the films while Vijay gifted a TAG watch in return to Ajith.

Will the Twitter hashtag wars in Kollywood stop? At the momet, it looks unlikely, as fans want to glorify their hero by running down his rival.
