Vijay-Mohanlal come together for Jilla!
While Ilayathalapathy Vijay¡¯s Thuppaki is setting new records, the latest news is that actor will be seen teaming up with Mollywood Superstar Mohanlal for Jilla . The film will be directed by debutant Nesan and Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in to play the female lead, after being paired with him in Thuppaki. D Imman will score the music and the film will be produced by RB Choudhary¡¯s Super Good Films. This is the first time Vijay and Mohanlal will be seen together in a film. Jilla will be a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual.
Vijay is currently busy with director Vijay¡¯s untitled film in which Amala Paul plays the female lead. The actor is expected to start working on Jilla after completing the current project.

The land of roses awaits Vijay's JillaSep 28, 2013
Bulgaria, otherwise famously known as the Land of Roses, will play host to the crew of Vijay’s Jilla very soon. The unit is presently working away on a grand climax fight in a studio set erected in Hyderabad, after which the unit along with Vijay and Kajal will travel to Bulgaria to can a couple of songs.

The director reveals that they have shortlisted nearly 9 locations for the songs and will take the final call on which they will use once they land there. Going by the speed of Neason’s work it appears that the crew is working briskly to have the film out for Pongal 2014. If it does indeed come out then it will be an interesting proposition as it will lock horns with Ajith’s Veeram

Aadhi released on maatu pongal (due to some issues it did not get released on pongal day), my most favorite film of Vijay, Vaseegara also got released on Pongal......... but it is an average grosser only i guess (think you are only considering post-Ghilli Vijay movies, otherwise I could remember even Coimbatore Maaplae)

The hugely anticipated movie 'Jilla',with Mohanlal and Vijay in the lead is in the climactic stages of its shoot. As per reports Mohanlal's man friday Antony Perumbavoor has bought the rights for release and distribution of Jilla in Kerala under his banner Aashirwad Productions. Considering the hype surrounding the movie it is bound to generate huge initial and most probably it will end up as a money spinner.

Seeing most of those films, just proves it's a tried and tested formula. With the exception of Thalaivaa perhaps, most of the other films had a seamless transition. There was still action in the first half, just that the 2nd half had more.

Couple of RUMORS I heard on Jilla... Jilla is the story of how the son of a don becomes a police officer. Think we can guess who is the don and who's the police officer. Another rumor is that Jilla is inspired by The Departed/Infernal Affairs.

Ya too. Goes well with me, as well. As I have already said, I am always favorable to remakes & adaptations, definitely with a price on head. Here, if Nesan along with Vijay and Mohan Lal (of coarse with his whole team) brings out the intensity (as in the originals), the film could make eyes pop out. Sorry to bring it in, but if its done Pokiri way, then I am obliged to say "another one bites the dust", at least for me. (Ghilli to an extent was OK with me - just the family circling around Vijay, the Vijay I wish to see, was at plenty)

Ramachandran, I am not sure how Hari is there along with Shankar and ARM. Hari is the polished version of Perarasu. I agree Shankar had less content in some movies. ARM always had content in his movies.

Director Nesan had worked as an Asst Director to Vincent Selva,Udayashankar, Remake Raja & had directed one film by the name '' Muruga '' . As per critics only Indiaglitz appreciated the film but others weren't too good with the film except for the comedy (Vadivelu was the comedian).

So IMO we shouldn't relate him to the above mentioned directors but have to wait and see what he delivers. I'm very much interested in this flick due to the following reasons apart from Vj

1) Madurai backdrop
2) Mohanlal Sir
3) Ensemble Casting especially comedians
4) Imman's Music (Want some Thundering tunes in the lines of Vijay's old Intros with Imman's Folk Touch)

Vijay's dance moves to rock Japan

The Jilla team, including the lead pair Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Kajal Agarwal, will be visiting Osaka and a few other spots in Japan to can a duet song sequence between the 23rd and 30th of this month. They had earlier planned to visit European locales across Bulgaria but have now changed their plans due to harsh weather conditions.

In recent times, Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara and Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru also had their song sequences canned in Japan. Imman is scoring for Jilla and he is joining hands again with Vijay, after Thamizhan way back in 2002.

Super Good Films are producing Jilla on a grand scale and the movie is targeting a Pongal 2014 release.

MADURAI DIALECT IN JILLA: I am doing an interesting character in Jilla. I can't reveal much at this point of time. It has nothing to do with a girly-girly or bubbly character. I speak the Madurai dialect since the movie is set against a Madurai backdrop.

Imman : Vijay sir called me and asked if we can work together in #Jilla. I took the tape recorder and went to meet him the moment he said that. Vijay sir laughed heartily, seeing me unchanged from how I was when we worked in Thamizhan.

I haven’t asked Vijay sir for another opportunity after Thamizhan. If I had done that it would have been irking. I knew that we would meet again in the long run and I am very happy about it.

Malayalam movie actress Niveda Thomas is delighted as she would be hitting the silver screen during Pongal, where she would be enacting the role of Mohanlal’s daughter and Vijay’s sister in the movie 'Jilla' which sees both the veteran actors, superstar Mohanlal and Ilaya Dalapathi Vijay sharing screen- space. Niveda acted as 14 year old Anjana in her debutant appearance in the movie ‘Veruthe Oru Bharya’. She excelled in her roles in the movies that followed, ‘Chappa Kurishu’ and ‘Romans’. Niveda spoke to Manorama online about her new movie ‘Jilla’, leaving behind the childishness of the fourteen year old as we have seen earlier.

About your character in ‘Jilla’

My character in Jilla is called ‘Mahalekshmi’. I appear as Mohanlal’s daughter in the movie. I have two elder brothers in it; those roles are handled by Vijay and Mahat Raghavendra. Mahalakshmi is a college student who has her own views and opinions about everything. She is more close to her father. Jilla portrays the relationship between a father, son and daughter.

How were you casted for the role in Jilla?

Director R T Nesan contacted me after watching my performance in the Tamil movie ‘Porali’. I felt that it was a good character when I heard the story line. Normally in Tamil movies, the sister role would always be an insignificant character. But this role was not like that. It was a character with lot of scope for acting. That is the reason why I chose to do it. Moreover, I consider myself really lucky to have received a chance to act as Lalettan’s daughter.

About Lalettan and Vijay

Vijay is reticent. Most of the times, he prefers to keep silent. Lalettan is not like that. He speaks to me well. We both used to talk in Malayalam and then Vijay would look at us. Then we would switch on to Tamil. As in movie, Lalettan considers me as a daughter in real life also. Although I acted in the movie ‘Pranayam’, I did not have any combination scene with Lalettan in it. This movie compensates for that complaint. Lalettan is a very good painter. He had shown me several of his paintings. Since I do my course in architecture, he explains painting to me. I had drawn and given him a portrait of Lalettan. The seven month long shooting period was really terrific.

Don’t you think that undertaking this sister character while you excel as a heroine would affect your image?

I signed up for this project after a lot of thinking. The Tamil movie ‘Naveena Saraswathi Shapadam’ in which I play the centre character is due to be released soon. Jay is my hero in it. So, taking up a sister role in the next movie needed a lot of thinking. The one thing which attracted me most to it was acting as Lalettan’s daughter; it is not something that everyone gets. And, my character in it was also good. That is the reason why I took up that role. I will not be taking up any sister characters in future.

Does that mean that you will act only as heroine hereafter?

Definitely, yes. No change in it. Jilla would be the last movie in which I will be seen in a sister role. I had decided this at the time of agreeing to this project itself. Whether in Malayalam or Tamil, I will only undertake heroine roles.

The first look of Vijay's upcoming release, Jilla will be out for Diwali day, November 2 according to a latest update from Jithan Ramesh, who represents Super Good Films, the producers of the movie. The film is on track for a Pongal 2014 release, as we have reported earlier.

Till now, on location stills of the movie have been released featuring Vijay, Kajal and Mohanlal. The official logo design of the movie was unveiled on the day, the movie's pooja was held, several months back.

On Diwali Day, Vijay fans would be eagerly expecting either a little teaser of the movie or a digital poster or some new stills from the movie with the official Jilla logo.
