Doing the second part after 2 decades is such a risky attempt! Audience taste has changed , it may have been an "awesome" movie in the 90's ( I liked it, and the songs were very good), but to cater for the current generation the story/direction/dialogue / editing / camera work MUST accommodate the current era, else the film will head for a disaster.

I am sure Karthick being a "veteran" Actor is aware of this , hope it will not be another "Jai hind 2 " !

Karthik's come back in "Anegan" was well received , you know never know "Amaran 2" may well be good, but the question is will the current movie goers accept it ?

That depends on how Amaran 2 is scripted. Amaran's story has great potential to be developed into a film which explores the underworld. More than the story, it is the execution and screenplay that matters and if the director is smart, it will certainly be successful. The story may not necessarily be connected to Amaran-1. It could be a extension of Amaran's character into the current underworld with a new story woven around that character.

Yes, the movie bombed ( there were even plans to name it Chakravarthi) and there were murmurs that Rajini was made to sing in Mannan in response to Karthik singing in Amaran...
But Karthik quickly bounced back with several family-oriented and comedy-based hits....

Of all Karthik movies, Amaran had the biggest ever hype. Pre-release hype, advance booking were phenomenal. Amaran and its songs(especially vethala) were common topics of discussion for schoolgoers. chakravarthi was another movie altogether starring karthik and bhanupriya - which too bombed.

karthik had two movies release on the same date jan 15, 1996 - ulaththai allitha and kizhakku mugam. in my hometown, kizhakku mugam ran for less than 3 days and ullathai allitha ran for a week or so. after the theatre replaced ullathai alli tha, the movie went viral and was re-released few days later to become a block buster.

Suseenthiran's vision of bringing rawness on screen is excellent. Next to RGV, I adore Suseenthiran is projecting a filmwork which is neither realistic nor processed, but carries its own charm in the making. Hope the film is more a crime thriller than 'running & catching'.

So many promotions for movies these days: Movie launch, 1st look poster, teaser(s), trailer release, audio release, press meet before movie, ("success" meet immediatly after movie release). What more can they do to promote a movie? If any. I think they should just settle with trailer and audio release if there are songs in the movie.
