The trailer of one of this year’s highly anticipated films, Thalaivaa, directed by Vijay and starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay was unveiled during the film’s audio launch. They say first impressions are the best impressions, and the trailer of Thalaivaa was nothing short of impactful.

The 162 second trailer is a riveting package that highlights the mood and theme of the film, through powerful dialogues and Nirav Shah's super slick visuals, but gives very little away in terms of the story. The trailer gives deserving face time for nearly all the characters involved in the film besides the lead pair, making it seem as if everyone has an important role to play.

Amidst all the gripping drama backed by a thunderous rock score by G.V. Prakash, the trailer also manages to indicate that it is a classic commercial pot-boiler with healthy doses of comedy, song and dance. But there seems to be an underlying message in the story that’s brought to the forefront with Vijay’s emotional and patriotic dialogue.

In the end when Vijay says ‘Indha dhadava miss agathu’, one gets a sense that the words will ring true for the film too as it promises to be another successful outing for Vijay. Expectations too have now been elevated!

As the day dawns on the 39th birthday of Illayathalapathy ‘Thalaivaa’ Vijay, cannot but wonder about the amazing success of this unassuming, simple and humble man.

Loving every moment of this new and renewed cool demeanor of Vijay. He seems to have firmly put behind the dark Sura days behind him, when his penchant for mass-masala movies and his then growing and quite needless political aspirations were threatening to damage his career and left opinions divided among his fans. The social media was ripe with jibes, jokes and insults aimed at Vijay.

In hindsight, I think that’s the best thing that has happened to Vijay. It forced him to come out of his comfort zone and focus more on his choice of scripts. Vijay has shown immense improvement in choosing his scripts in the last 2 years. His decision to go back to the tried and tested Siddique for Kavalan and his newly found desire to work with established film makers such as ARM, ALV and GVM (though it did not materialize) are all steps in the right direction. Nothing wrong from learning from your mistakes and Vijay seems to have done just that.

Quite a large cry from those uncertain days, Vijay looks calm, collective and largely unfussed these days. It is true that Vijay is going through a purple patch at the moment, but the good thing is, he looks grounded and focused.

For someone who has followed his career closely for over 15 years now, I haven’t felt more comfortable with his on-screen and off-screen presence like how it is now.

He doesn't indule in over-the-top promotions (breaking ties with SUN Group helped), doesn't rely on Punch dialogues aimed at other actors and more importantly seems to be making the right choice of movies. When he took to twitter earlier today to catch up with his adoring fans on this birthday, there was one inevitable question on his political aspirations and Vijay’s response showed a clear and focused mind. Vijay’s priority is fairly and squarely on sustaining his position in the Tamil Film Industry which is music to his fans and also a polite warning for his critics. Things are looking ominous.

With a newly found momentum, and a promising line-up of movies under his kitty, I really hope Vijay goes from strength to strength from here on.

Once again, Happy Birthday Thalaivaa and have a great year ahead. Eagerly looking forward to Thalaivaa and Jilla.

In trailor there is one frame where vijay stabs one person with a long sword.. Exactly the same style that of Kamal in Vishwarooppam's warehouse fight sequence. Looks like the Vj liked that way Kamal performed it with almost elegant and style in a fraction of second.. This proves that kamal inspires leading current gen action hero.. Thalaivaa - Music Review
"Thalaivaa" produced by Sri Mishri Productions Chandra Prakash Jain and directed by A.L Vijay is one of the most awaited films for the year 2013. IlayathalapathyVijay who is on a winning streak is paired with Amala Paul, costarring Santhanam, Sathyaraj and others. The film's music by G.V.Prakash Kumar was launched today in a simple function and even before the release, the promo versions of the song created a huge stir among the internet population of Vijay fans. Here is a brief review of the songs which are sure to top the charts in coming days.
Tamil Rap, techno sounds and a faster version of the beats of "All I wanna say" song of MJ makes up Tamil Pasanga song. The only element that stands out among all these is the dedicated singing of Benny Dayal. His crystal clear rendition of the song hooks us throughout. It is a totaly different version of an introduction song for Vijay and definitely a welcome change. The problem is that the rap is disjoint with the main verses of the song, so appears to be thrust for the want of it.
Yaar indha saalai oram is what G.V.Prakash usually excels in - Slow Melody duet. The very English orchestration of flutes, violins and tap music give the song such a pleasing appeal. This add-ons over the beautiful voices of Saindhavi and G.V.Prakash add so much romance to the song, good enough to melt your heart. Though the orchestration reminds you of couple of Prakash's earlier songs, it suits best for this songs, so there is nothing much to complain.
Vaanganna Vanakkangana sung by Vijay, which happens to be his 25th playback, is the highlight of the album. If you need one single reason to listen to this album, then this is it. Love failure songs in high spirits is not new to Tamil Cinema, but it is Vijay's voice here that makes it very very special. The song has high pitched parts, expressions and modulations almost equivalent to enacting a scene and the need to entertain through singing. And no one could have pulled it off so comfortably but an entertainer like Vijay, who is so much at ease. Till the last second of the song, it is Vijay who lifts the song to an unimaginable height.
Sol Sol is a fast paced melody complete with western and techno beats. Megha and Vijay Prakash do full justice to the song and its mood. You can spot Abhay Jodhpurkar in a short instant in the middle. There is nothing novel about this track as such, but you will grow to like it afterfew repeated hearings.
The violins and flutes of Yaar Indha Saalai Oram return to give an instrumental piece titled The Ecstasy of Dance. While much of it has to be given life by the dance onscreen, we can for the time being immerse in the joy provided by the music which is heavily inspired the works of Vanessa Mae and many western composers.
The album has an energetic finish with Thalaivaa Thalaivaa, a mass number glorifying the image of Vijay.The orchestration though reminds you of Ilayaraja gives you goosebumps as the song progresses. The awesome and excellent feel in the voices of Haricharan and Super Singer fame Pooja takes the song to an extremely different level. This is not just another mass song for glorifying the hero, every line and word of the song means so much about Vijay, his life and the enormous following he has all over. If there is ever to be an anthem for Vijay fans, this should be the one. It has Vijay written all over it with massive love and affection.
The previous films of Vijay with superand blockbuster hit music albums hasdefinitely put a heavy responsibilty on G.V.Prakash. But, there is no need to dispute if he met the expectations set on him, or rather set by him and how he carried out his responsibility.All that matters is that, Thalaivaa on the whole will be an album best suited for the film and it will have a universal acceptance, because there is nothing that you can complain about the album, while at the same time there is nothing you feel out of the world.
If you have time for some good music, some emotions and some fun, Thalaivaa is the best choice this season. It may not be the time to lead previous Vijay albums, but definitely the time to lead this season.

Actor Vijay is one person who can replace superstar Rajinikanth in filmdom, says Vendhar Movies' T Siva , who has picked up the distribution rights of Vijay-starrer upcoming Tamil action-drama 'Thalaivaa'.
"Only Vijay's films can create as much buzz as a Rajinikanth film. This is because he will be the next superstar and we all know it. Vijay has a fan base as big as Rajinikanth's and it is growing exponentially with every passing day," said Siva.
He says Vijay's films sell like hot cakes because of his mass following. The actor turned 38 Saturday. " Thalaivaa was sold out in all areas of Tamil Nadu within 48 hours since I bought it from its producer. In just over a day since the release of the trailer, it has already garnered 1.045 million hits with more than 14600 likes. That Vijay's birthday also coincided with the trailer's release has just increased its visibility even more.

The trailer is superbly cut and shows that Thalaivaa is a slick commercial entertainer with a message. Vijay looks dashing in two distinct character demarcations and Amala Paul looks pretty. Banking on the frenzy and positive feedback risen through the music and trailer of Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Thalaivaa, the theatre bookings have commenced already, nearly a month in advance. The film is expected to release in the month of August and theatre owners have supposedly been queuing up to showcase the film as they believe Vijay’s success streak is set to continue.

With the kind of hype and anticipation circling the project, this premature move by theatre owners is being seen as a sign of things to come as Thalaivaa is likely to produce one of Vijay’s biggest openings till date. Breaking : Vijay’s Thalaivaa release date
There have been some reports about Thalaivaa’s release date being August 9th. But, when Behindwoods contacted our inside sources, we were informed that the film would come out on August 2nd, if everything goes as per plan.
The music, which came a day before Vijay’s birthday, has been in the top of the charts since and the trailers have garnered millions of visits. The film’s cooking high expectations and show all signs of a huge opening.
Theater owners have supposedly been queuing up already, expressing their interest in showcasing the film. The producer of the film, Chandraprakash Jain has also sold the satellite rights of the film to Sun TV for an undisclosed, but massive sum. Vendhar Movies will be releasing the film all over Tamil Nadu.

Vijay's Thalaivaa is hot in trade and the film is all set to release in the month of August. Now the latest is that producer Chandraprakash Jain has said that the film will be released in TN &... Andhra on the same day.

In AP the film will be dubbed and leading distribution house is in talk to snap the dubbing rights. Chandra Prakash also said that they are planning to remake the film in Hindi and they will decide on the star cast after Thalaivaa's release.

Now , Thalaivaa release date has been confirmed by Kerala distributors Thameens and UK distributor Ayngaran . Yes, Thammens have released the Malayalam first look with Ramzan release tag while Ayngaran released their tentative UK theatre lists with August 9 release tag. Thalaivaa is already making a brisk business in Tamil Nadu with almost 70% of theatres are booked. Many big screens across the state are booked for Thalaivaa. Theatres have started advertising Thalaivaa through posters even before one month which much prior than the usual.

Thalaivaa will also have a Telugu release, soon the audio launch and release date will be announced soon. Thalaivaa has Vijay,Amala Paul,Sathyraaj in the lead and it is being directed by AL Vijay . #Thalaivaa ready to take off

Thalaivaa is an action packed film directed by A.L. Vijay featuring Vijay and Amala Paul. The film is scheduled for next month release. The movie was made in immense budget and it has Sathyaraj, Sathanam, Rohini, Udhaya, Y.G. Mahendran, Manobala, Thambhi Ramaiah and Abhimanyusingh as co-starts. The producer has promised that the film will be a laugh riot in the first half and will turn into a mind blowing action entertainer in the second half.
The movie was canned in Mumbai for 90 days under huge sets and they have also canned it in Australia for 30 days. The stunt sequences is said to be a big highlight in the movie and it will be a visual delight for Vijay fans including his new dance experiment.

The director probably feels that the best way to deal with the nerve-racking anticipation is by moving forward to other things. For all those eager and anxious fans of Ilayathalapathy Vijay, here is a piece of good news that you can relish and enjoy. A L Vijay directed Thalaivaa is almost complete having finished the shooting and also the post-production work. Now the final stage of getting the censor certification is the only pending work which has been scheduled fortomorrow i.e. July 24th.

With this last step, the film would be ready for release. As per insiders, the crew is expecting either a U certification or a U/A. With the crossing of the censor certification stage, the announcement of the release date and the promotions of the film are expected to commence with ferocious vigor. As of now, the film is targeting an August 9 release.

Thalaivaa stars Vijay, Amala Paul, Sathyaraj, Santhanam among others. Music is scored by G V Prakash and camera is handled by Nirav Shah and editing by Anthony.

Thalaivaa, directed by AL Vijay, featuring Ilayathalapathy Vijay is one of the most awaited films of 2013. This film features Amala Paul as the main lead along with Ragini, an import from the Hindi television world and Bollywood.

THALAIVAA'S SUCCESS WILL BE BETTER THAN THUPPAKKI !

Thalaivaa is red hot in trade and almost all areas are sold for a record price and only Andhra Pradesh distribution is yet to be sold as the negotiations are going on. The producers say the distribution rights for many areas are much higher than Thuppakki and they didn't expected such a demand, even the satellite rights is sold to Sun TV for an amount which is the highest among all Tamil films till now.

Going by the trade reports the opening will be tremendous and if the film gets positive word of mouth then it will create a new record after Thuppakki, who knows it might exceed Thuppakki too said a source. The censor process are yet to be over and it will be completed within a week or two and then the official release date will be announced.

The theatres which are releasing Thalaivaa is planning to open the reservations much earlier so that they can reap the maximum by the opening weekend itself, now all eyes on Vendhar Movies and Mishri Productions to announce the release date.

Will Vijay’s extremely-anticipated Thalaivaa make it into the elite Rs 150 crore club? It’s producers certainly seem confident that the film will join films like Shah Rukh Khan’s Don-2 and My Name is Khan as far as collections go. According to reports, Kalaipuli S Dhanu had estimated the collection of his Vijay’s last film Thuppakki,at a little more than Rs 125 crores. But from what producer S Chandraprakash, Thalaivaa will certainly catapult the actor to Rs 150-crore club in the film industry. “Definitely, every project will exceed its conceived budget and Thalaivaa did as well. But it has more business than we expected. The television rights alone have been sold at a never- before amount for a Vijay flick. I’m sure Thalaivaa will collect more than Thuppakki,” said Chandraprakash.

Directed by Madarasapattinam director A L Vijay, Thalaivaa stars Vijay and Amala Paul in the lead roles and is set entirely in Mumbai. Vijay has had a pretty good run at the box-office over the last couple of years with all his films doing brisk business. After the moderate success of Kavalan, films like Velayudham, Nanban and Thuppakki were officially declared as box-office successes and the expectations for his upcoming projects have all but skyrocketed.

Chandraprakash rubbished the news that Thalaivaa (meaning Leader) projects Vijay as a politician to further the actor’s political future. “Thalaivaa has nothing to with politics. Even among a group of friends there will be a leader-like person. There is a leader in every classroom. So the title should be understood in that context,” he said. With the film due for clearance from the Censor Board in a week’s time from now, it is expected to hit screens before the third week of August. When asked about composer GV Prakash’s accusations against audio labels that the latter rip them of their due royalty,

Chandraprakash said, “If musicians demand it, they should get only the expenditure reimbursed and gain their salary from their royalty. Or, they should themselves sell the music under their own label. Only the Procuders’ Council should sort this issue out,” he concluded

Thalaivaa's producer, Chandraprakash Jain of Sri Mishri Production, is in the spotlight as his big budget Vijay - Vijay movie is getting ready to release in the 2nd week... of August, either on the 8th or 9th.

The film is yet to be censored but the team is hopeful of completing these formalities quickly and is expecting a clean U certificate. The producer spoke to our Behindwoods Correspondent and had many interesting details to share about the movie.

"We are coming back to production after a big break, after Rickshaw Mama and now with the support of the complete family, we will be producing more movies, with complete involvement and interest. Everything is God's will"

"Ilayathalapathy Vijay liked A.L.Vijay's script so much that he straightaway recommended this script to us and we were very happy to start the project right away. We frankly didn't expect to be doing such a big project so soon"

The total budget of Thalaivaa is rumored to be around 50 crores but the producer has already sold his movie for a higher price and has recovered his investment. 2000 plus screens would see a grand release of Thalaivaa.

Totally 120 days were spent filming the movie predominantly in Mumbai and Sydney. The songs shot in Sydney are expected to be a visual treat for the audience.

Initially titles such as Thanga Magan, Thalaivan and even Thalapathy were under consideration but finally the director and producer decided to use the title Thalaivaa and Ilayathalapathy Vijay was only too happy to approve it.

The producer says that there have been no compromises in the production of Thalaivaa even when it came to the number of junior artistes and dancers involved.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay recently happened to see a special screening of the movie and was thrilled with the output and thanked the producer wholeheartedly. He is ready to work on one more film for the same producer in the near future too.

On the whole, Chandraprakash Jain expects the movie to be a big mass break for both the Vijays.

Vijay wanted to move on from ‘anna’ to ‘bro’

“Vanganna Vanakkanganna…” from Thalaivaa is surely the latest anthem for the youth. The song’s topping the charts and is played on a loop in all the radio stations. The composer, in a recent interview revealed how his team responded for the song, when he showed them his rough track. “Everybody loved it and they applauded frantically after listening to the song,” glees the young composer. Vijay supposedly appreciated GV Prakash personally, but the superstar had a complaint. “Vijay was very happy. But he said that just when he wanted to move on from his trademark ‘anna’ trend to the new ‘bro’ system, I’m bringing him back to the old one,” laughs GV Prakash. But the composer convinced the actor to sing the song saying that let this be the last of your legendary ‘anna’ system. Today almost every lips chant the song like a mantra. Meanwhile, the film’s going for the censors shortly and is expected to release in the second week of August.

If the Indian censor is done + cleared from the French airport customs, I do not find any problem in its release & Bravo to have pulled to get a release in much theatres. A major highlight is that they have covered mostly all regions, mainly big cities to screen the movie & thats what we are talking about.

But Eventhough the cinema theatre count is more, the number of shows are less. Wondering whats the strategy to get a passport for 17 prints but showing it only for one or 2 shows (And I am aware that the screening is quite costly in France).

Will be watching the movie on 08/08 : If I liked the movie, I will let you know, else myself keeping quite is safer to avoid misunderstanding.
(And if there is reasonble "french" audience, will post a line here)

As reported earlier director Vijay’s much anticipated film did go for a re-censor recently. According to our sources inside the team, the revising team requested for 7 cuts in the film. However, after a lot of negotiations, both the parties have agreed for two or three cuts at the maximum.

On the whole, Thalaivaa will release on the 9th of August with a U certificate. It has also come to our knowledge that the Vijay-Amala Paul starrer is almost 170 minutes long.

Also starring Sathyaraj, Santhanam, Ragini Nandwani, Rajiv Pillai and Abhimanyu Singh in other pivotal characters, Thalaivaa has been produced by Chandra Prakash Jain of Shri Mishri Productions. Director Vijay’s usual brigade consisting of composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Nirav Shah and editor Anthony makes up the core team of the project.
