Really impressed with the film. Sasi Kumar and the director take shots against the two dominant castes in the southern Tamil nadu directly. Most of this comes in the opening scene!!!!! Even the great directors of tamil cinema haven't done this. Though the film does make up for this by glorifying them in a subtle manner while doing the former most of the time, it still needs lot of courage to make a film like this. But unfortunately the film became a regular/typical Sasi kumar film towards the end.

Sasi Kumar is introducing a new trend in tamil films. The setting and the way typical towns (villages a few decades ago) are portrayed in his films are so good that you can relate to them.
Dialogues are good. Good acting from everyone. That "Panjayathu" scene was so realistic and we have come a lot from the days of "naatamaai". Paraotta Suri will become the next Vadivelu if he selects his movies carefully.

Even in Poraali, you can see this when Sasi's relatives visit the petrol bunk owner (indirect one though). the way he captures these things :clap: Since it comes in the opening scene, you can easily remove it if there is any opposition. Nalla tactic. The way tamil films portray south TN is clichéd. Sasi kumar is deviating from that.

oh! But if we interpret that literally, I thought no other actor other than Karthik and Prabhu will be appreciated by them. In reality, it is {Prabhu + Sivaji} & {Muthuraman + Karthik}. The only other actor for whom you can see in the cut-outs will be "Kamal" [Either Sandiyar look or Devar Magan look]

I like this movie, typical Sasikumar product. First half bore but then I didn expect that twist before interval, the sequence after that is so realistic and interesting.
But the twist in the climax is expected though. Heroine's first movie? can't believe :clap: Parotta Suri's dialogues :lol:

This song is a spoof, watch it again and be attentive to the lyrics and how its choreographed.
Like in all Sasikumar movie, you could note these kind of stuff (even in EEsan).

1st Half : like they say, if you have a hangover, take a cutting. The 1st half is that cutting for the Attakathi hangover.
Interval block : interesting
2nd Half : realistic, fierce, bold and some good dialogues & acting

Actor-directors like K Bhagyaraj, R Parthiban and R Pandiarajan are not your typical Kollywood heroes. Fully aware of that, they came up with story-driven films that focused on human emotions rather than on mind-boggling heroics
Following in their footsteps is Sasikumar, actor, director and producer. His production venture Sundarapandian, in which he plays the lead role, speaks about love, valour, friendship and betrayal. And is set in the earthy Madurai milieu.

There are shades of his maiden directorial venture, Subramaniapuram in it, but strong characterisation and gripping narration make Sundarapandian fresh and watchable.

It is directed by Sasi’s associate, Prabhakar, and every frame bears the stamp of his mentor. The entertainer laced with romance and friendship proceeds smoothly and gets interesting as it nears completion. What begins as a usual commercial flick with song and dance, settles down to being a serious film after Sasikumar falls in love. Sasikumar, well aware of his strengths and limitations, has ensured that no mass elements creep into his characterisation and plays the boy-next-door to perfection. The catchy dialogues add pep to the proceedings.

In a nutshell, it is a simple tale of innocence and friendship. What happens when a girl enters the lives of the friends forms the crux of the story. Sundarapandian (Sasikumar) is the only son of a rich landlord who is admired by one and all. His friend falls in love with Archana (Lakshmi Menon), the daughter of a powerful man in Usilampatti, Sundarapandian does everything to ensure she accepts his friend’s proposal, even though he and Archana have been drawn to each other before. As it happens, she falls for him again. A murder in their midst is a turning point and the blame falls on Sundarapandian, who goes to jail. When Sundarapandian returns from jail and prepares to marry Archana, there are other twists and a bloody climax.

Sasikumar lends substance to the role and looks fit, having shed some weight since his last on screen appearances. His comic timing is an added bonus. Lakshmi Menon as Archana has delivered a mature performance. Appu Kutty fails to impress here and the likes of Inigo, Vijay Sethupathy and Parotta Suri chip in with their best.

The songs by Raghunanthan are unexceptional, but his background score makes up for it. Prem Kumar’s cinematography captures Usilampatti and the surrounding villages well. Sundarapandian is an honest attempt and all credit to Prabhakar for coming up with a commercial entertainer that strikes a chord with the audience.

First half..Could not enjoy much after 30 mins.. romba porumaya sodhichitaanga..
Second half was much better.. Some scenes were really good..

Sasikumar was really pathetic.. Please stop ur acting and do concentrate in direction..
Heroine, Heroine friend and soori were good..

Otherthan sagikala sasikumar.. Everyone did their job well..

Watched it. Fairly entertaining. The first half was ok barring a few laughs from Parotta suri, but it was the second half that was actually entertaining. The same template from that of Nadodigal is followed. The hero adored by his family, having a bunch of friends who are solely dependent on him for almost anything and then the twist at the interval. The climax was predictable and the dialogue at the end was just :shock:...enna oru altruism.....

Nice watchable entertainer. The predominant things normally associated with sasi kumar's movies like natpu,throgham are once again focussed here strongly. But again realistic and well etched characters coupled with a great madurai feel make us to connect to the movie. Right from the chinna gounder days or even before, the panchayat scenes always looks contrived but here its a revelation.Some twists in the second half were predictable but it didn't affect the engaging screenplay. Only the songs were pretty bad...

- when films like Billa, Mugamoodi, Thandavam (recent 3 expected films from top artistes) were unrealistic & we cannot relate.. sasikumar brings back the nativity feel in the films... :clap: Sasikumar.. pls continue this trend
