I have found that the sambar (or kozhambu?)
accompanying idlis, in a few Thanjavur Iyer homes
I have visited has its DISTINCTIVE taste and
is VERY tasty. Have never found this taste in sambar served elsewhere, be it a home or a restaurant. I have not been able to recreate this taste myself.
Are there any Thanjavur mamis who can post the recipe ?
