Simply you can make anything with sona masoori rice. can use'em for cooking regular rice to idli, dosai, pongal(sweet & Kaaram),adai paniyaaram,Aappam, lemon rice and tamarind rice etc.....
This one is realy realy good for making very soft silky idlies to people who has/use only blenders(in US) for grinding rice. It'll grind very fast so you can save much time than grinding boiled rice as well as selflife of the motar.
Can use it almost for all recipies which calls for raw rice(in sweets, vadais & any thing) and will exactly give the same results.
For making idlies, the rasio should be 4:1(4 parts rice & 1 part urad dal) along with 5 fenugreek seeds.

I use sonamasoori alone (Or) soonamasoori with ponni boiled rice and getting almost the same results(soft idlies) in both types.
The propotion for the second type should be
2 parts - ponni boiled rice(I use lakshmiBrand)
2 parts - sonamasoori rice (I use lakshmi Brand)
1 part - urad dal, along with 5 seeds of fenugreek.
