Hello Mrr.Anand and Divya,
Onion Uthappam is my most favourite dish.
I have a long list of things to do before I sleep!!!
Just that I am in thick of preparing for my trip to US.
But I won't disappoint you.Just give me a couple of days.I will post two recipes on SOS basis.(one is butter beans)

onion uthappam is very simple to prepare
dosa powder mix with water and salt. after 24 hrs. made dosa and put small slices of onion on the top. then the one side become fry you can turn to other side. onion uthappam is used with chatni or sambar.
oniun rost is the another dish for evening time.

hi divya and mrs.anand,
you can even fry the onions along with thinly sliced green chillies and then spread it over dosa or oothappam. but when you fry the onions, you can spreard them after the dosa is done on both sides[you need not turn it after spreading]

hi,
this is anamika again.onion dosa can be made by adding small pieces of onion and green chillies directly to the batter before making dosa. it will be of a different taste.

Use pankage mix.
Mix with butter milk instead of water.
Cut green chillis, red onion and ginger to small pieces adn mix with batter.
make Onion Uttappam and Enjoy!

Here is an improved version: In addition to onion and green chilies, add chopped tomatoes, small amount of thinly sliced ginger and a pinch of salt. Few times I also have added chopped carrots and peas! Sauté in olive oil for about two minutes (you may refrigerate and re-use for 2-3 days). Spread the dosa batter on an oiled pan and sprinkle the onion-tomato mix on top. Cook both sides. Excellent with coconut chutney!
