I want to know how to make kara chutney?

U mean karachutney for idli/dosai.....
if that's what u need then here u go
ING
cocunut thuruval 1cup
red chillies 5
kadalai parupu 4 spoons
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan fry dhall ,after it is done add red chillies suate for a minute or two .Then grind these with cocunut ,ginger(garlic if u like,dont add them both... gin/gar...ok) and small amount of tamarind and salt.finally heat oil in the pan add mustard,urad dhall and karuvepilai ..mix it with the grounded chutney.kara chutney is ready.

Thank you for the recipe. some people do it with tomatoes and red chillies. do u know the recipe?

Kara chutney
Ingredients:
a peanut size asafotida
one tablespoon bengal gram dhal
one tablespoon urud dhal
8 nos. red chillies
one big onion
one big tomato
salt to taste
tamrind to taste
method:
In a kadai put two tablespoon oil. Fry asafotida,bengal gram dhal,urdu dhal, red chillies,separately.Put the onion and tomato cut into big pieces and just fry in a teaspoon of oil. Add tamrind and salt to it and grind all the above to a coarse or fine paste as you like.

Hi,
This Chutney will very well go for Hot Idlies & Dosas.
Ingredients:(For two)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds(kadugu)
1/2 tsp Urad dal(ulundhu)
1/2 tsp channa dal(Kadalai paruppu)
Asofoetida
Onion 1 (medium size)
Tomato 2 (medium size)
Red chillies 3 or 4 (According to ur spice level)
curry leaves
Tamarind
Cilantro
Season with mustard,urad dal,channa dal and add asofoetida.Put onions and fry for little time(till onion smell goes)(No need to fry till it becomes soft).Put red chillies adn fry and put tomatoes and fry for a little time.
Then add curry leaves and cilantro and fry for little time.
Switch off the stove and put tamarind(little) and salt And make it to cool.
Grind it and have with hot n hot idlies and dosas.

Secret simple recipe of Kara Chutney:
Fry (10) Red Chillies, (3 cloves) Garlic and (peanut size) Tamarind with 2 tspn oil and grind (with little water).
This is the kara chutney served in Road side Idli shops (kai yendi bavan).
