Hi Sreelatha,
I don't have any experience with sumeet mixie. But what I advise you is if you don't want to spend too much money, osterizer is a very good mixie. You can do most of the stuff with that. If you go to Walmart, you can get 10 speed blender with a food processor attachment and it costs 40 dollars and I think thats worth it, because if you buy a 14speed blender you wont get the food processor attachement which itself is going to cost 35 dollars. With that food processor you can make batter for vadas etc. More over we can get mini jar which will fit to blender and that will be good for chutneys etc. That you can get in any Indian shop for 2-3 dollars.

Well, it depends on what you want to grind. For small quantities Oster is not so effecient and you need additional jars.
I have been through 4 Osters in the past 10 years here - having burnt out each of them trying to make Adai.
So now I bought a Waring - which is a professional grinder (costs between 80 and 95) and comes with a stainless steel jar. This is a work horse and does everything I want.
You can also bid on these on Ebay.
Good Luck

You have to buy an Indian heavy duty mixie, to learn the difference of any us blenders.
These blenders any sold here in the USA are not equipped to tackle Heavy duty grinding for idli dosa or grinding coconuts..etc., They are designed to crush ice or for fruit punch or juices.
I had Osterizer for more than 1 year, It does idli, dosai , the unit struggles hard to grind, the batter gets heated up, does not grind evenly, time consuming, changed jars twice.
I first thought of buying a wet grinder, then I thought I still need a good mixie, so I bought Preethi Mixie from http://www.perfectpeninsula.com
Now, then I feel the difference between osterizer and preethi. I felt that I should have bought it at in the first place, instead for me dragging with these US blenders.
Go for Preethi 5 jar mixie, I strongly recommend.
