How to make the vadai malai for Anjaneyar?

Mrs. Sanker,
My grandmother makes the vadai in this manner. She has said that the vadai will be hard and will stay good for many days.This is the way they make in temples in India.
Ingredients.
2 cups whole black urad dhal
1 tbs rice
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp jeera
little perungayam
salt.
Method
Soak the whole dhal,and the rice for about an hour. Then grind them to a thick paste, with the skin on.
Add in the crushed pepper, jeera, perungayam, and salt.Pat them into thin vadais, about3 inches in diameter,and fry them in refined oil.
The vadais will be little hard.
