Vegetable Rice
Thevaiyaanavai:
onion-one
green chilly-3
Potato-one big sized
Mixed vegetables(use the one with carrot,peas,corn and beans)
Beans-4 or 5 nos
Caulflower-handful
(It is not necessary that you should have all these vegetables)
Rice-3/4 th cup
Water-2 cups
masalapodi-a pinch
oil-one spoon
ginger and garlic paste-kal araikkal spoon
Salt
Method: peel and cut the onions to small pieces.
Cut the remaining vegetables including chillies(except for the frozen mixed veg)into long pieces.
Heat the oil in the kadai. ennai kainjadhum
fry the ginger and garlic paste for couple of seconds. Add the onions and fry them till they turn brown. Add the chillies alone and fry them for a couple of seconds. Add the remaining vegetables. cook them in reduced flame for about 5 minutes. Erakkarthukku munnadi add masalapodi and mix it well with the vegetables.
Wash the rice. Add the vegetables to the rice in the rice cooker. Add salt and 2 cups of water and stir them well.
Cook the rice in the rice cooker in the usual manner.
Rice cook panni mudichadhum veliye eduthu konjam
butter pottu nalla kalarunga.If you have mint leaves andha ilaiyaium podalaam
This is a very tasty dish and is healthy at the same time. You can cook this in 20-25 mins. You can eat this with pickle, but if you are particular you can make raitha

Keerai Masiyal
Thevayanavai:
Frozen cut Spinach-1 pkt
Paitham paruppu-handful(the paruppu that you use to make venn pongal)
rasapodi-1/2 teaspoon
seeragam-1/2 teaspoon
kadugu
uluthamparuppu
Dried coconut scrapings-2 teaspoons
oil-1/2 teaspoon
Salt.
Method: cook the dal in pressurecooker with 1.5 cups of water.
Place the spinach in a vessel. Add 1/2 cup of water to the spinach. Add salt,rasapodi and perungaiyam. Boil the spinach well. Nalla vendhadhum add the cooked dal to the spinach. Rendu kodhi vandhadhum add the coconut. 2-3 mins kodhikka vittu irakki vidavum.
Heat the oil in the kadai. Kadugai vedikkavittu
fry the ulathamparuppu and seeragam. Add this to the keerai masiyal
