first we need to cook rice and dal. then, in puLi thaNNi, add dal, saambaar podi, vEgavachcha kaai, uppu and stir... finally, thaaLichchaa aachu saambar. have hot sambar with rice, ghee, nalla poriyal, appaLam aaaaaaaaahhhaaaaaaaa

hi,
this is the first time i visted this site.The best sambhar rice i have ever had was made by my mother. the recipe is as follows.
Tuar daal - 1/2 cup (boiled)
rice - i cup
chopped vegetables (as you prefer)
lil bit mustard
lil bit of fungreek seeds
sambhar podi - 2 spoons
salt to taste
oil
curry leaves and corriender leaves
method: in you pressure cookes pour some oil..add the mustard seeds, fungreek seeds..add the vegetables..saute it for some while..add the sambhar powder, salt as required, green chillies, and mix them well...add the rice, boiled tuar daal..and pour sufficient water..
close your cooker and wait for about 4 - 5 whistles...later garnish it with corriander leaves while serving.
this will be the best sambhar rice you would have ever had..
