  mixed sambhar is,according to me the best side dish..its nothing but the mormal sambhar except that you can put all the vegetables you like..but it takes some time and patience to make it...alternatives a normal sambhar is also a good combination with sweet pongal...
  since this pongal is sweet any this that is spice will go be a good combination!!
  
  generally nothing is served specifically with sweet pongal..!!
