hello everyone
"antuvaalada kayi "(so called in kannada) is the best home remedy for even the most stubborn dandruff.I had tried all the supermarket stuff and all the herbal remedies for dandruff, but in vain.Fortunately enough, I found this miraculous remedy and tried it.Now I am completely clear of dandruff .So I wanted to share this little success story with all those who r looking for a "fail-proof dandruff solution" .
Also can anyone tell me what is the english and botanical name for "antuvaalada kayi"?
Ur response will be greatly appreciated.

My husban suffers from dandruff and also his hair is very weak. I am not sure if that is due to dandruff. Every time I do a massage a very large amount of hair drops.
If anyone can suggest any remedy, it would be helpful.
I would like to know what to do stop the hair fall especially.

hi aarthi
Massaging the scalp with Brahmi oil or Bhringaraj oil at bedtime will prevent hair loss.this is a popular ayurvedic regimen for hair maintenance.

I don't know Kannadam! But the name 'Antawala' (not antuvaalada) in Kannadam had one hit in my database! I assume 'antawala' and 'antuvaalada' are the same. Tell me if they are different. So here go:
Tamil: pUvankottai, ponnAnkotai
Telegu: Kunkutikaya
Kannada: Kugatemara, Kugatekaaye, antawala
Malayaalam: Urunci, Uruvanci
Hindi: Ritta
Sanskrit: Phenilah, Aristakah
English Common Name: Soapnut (tree)
Botanical name: Sapindus laurifolia Vahl. (syn: Sapindus trifoliata Linn) Family: Sapindaceae
(other synonyms are used in different regions)

google images for 'sapindus' for pictures!

Hi Daffodil
Are you referring to the small marble sized hard coated shells with seeds in them. They need to be separated from the seeds and soaked overnight and then boiled and used to rinse the hair. This is what Idiappam is talking about. I used to use this a few years back, but it would leave my hair very dry.
Unfortunately, I dont know if I can find it here where I live. I am Toronto based. If you have any idea ,please let me know

Hi Geetha
Ur description of "antawalada kayi" is correct.
I think u can find it as powder(Aritha) or whole nuts in Indian Grocery stores.
