For best crispy onion rawa dosa follow this recipe:
1 cup rice flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup rava
2 green chillies chopped finely
1/2" piece ginger chopped finely
1 tsp black pepper
finely chopped onions
salt to taste
Add enough water to make a thin batter.
season it with the mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves, hing and jeera in oil and add to the rava dosa mixture.
If you like, you can add chopped coriander to the batter.
Pour it on a preheated tawa and cook it closed. Once the bottom is cooked, open the lid and turn it and cook it uncovered. You will get crispy, tasty rawa dosa.
If you add yoghurt to the batter, the dosa comes softer but it will stick to the pan. You have to use a non-stick pan and cook for a little longer.

Thanks Andal Balu.
Everytime I mix the batter with yoghurt and I used to wonder why it is not coming out crispy. Thank you so much for the tips.
I've doubts regarding this:
Can you make this immediately or you've to keep it for a while and make dosa later. Please help me?
Can we add butterfmilk half and water half to make the batter?
All purpose flour means maida Isn't it.
Thanks once again.

Shobana,
you are right. All purpose flour is maida.
You can make the dosa immediately. But if you let it soak for 1/2 hr to 1 hr, the dosas come browner and better.
As I mentioned earlier, if you use buttermilk, you have to cook it on a non-stick tawa. Or you can try reducing the amount of maida to 3/4 cup and increasing the amount of rice flour to 1 1/4 cup and one cup rawa.
