I have a 3 year old daughter. She is so picky I am not able to give her variety foods for breakfast, lunch or dinner. She does not like to bite. So as of now I am giving her oatmeal.
Can anyone suggest me good breakfast / lunch / dinner (vegetarian) that I can given her??

Hi Usha,
If she doesn't like to bite, try mashed foods. It is almost time to stop giving mashed foods by 3 years though! Try giving mashed potatoes that is very good for children. I post here the directions to make the mashed potatoes from a magazine.
Place cooked potatoes in a bowl. Mash, add butter and mash some more. Slowly pour in warm milk and mash again. Stir in salt. The quantities are given as for 2 pounds of russet potatoes, you have to add 4 tbsp butter and 1 cup milk.
Also please check out this link which may be of use to you. http://www.ianr.unl.edu/pubs/foods/g1248.htm

Hi Usha,
I totally agree with Mini when she says it time to stop the mushy foods...but if she will not bite then you will have to gradually trick her into eating the big girl food. Why don't you try giving her "mac and cheese". Try cooking the pasta till its very well done and add cheese sauce to it. If eggs are ok with you , then you could try giving her scrambled eggs.

Hello Usha,
Why dont u start her giving cereal with milk for breakfast? One of the best and filling diet. Once in a week, can give egg with or without salt.
Since she is 3 yrs now, dont have to grind in mixie or mash very nicely. Just make sure, the rice is enough nice to eat and also not throw it out(some kids will do even if they find a single grain). Can give small small pieces of apple without skin, and later with skin. I read in books that grapes are not advisable at this period because of the seeds. Also, try gerber biscuits so that they will get the habit of holding things.
In the evening(i wonder whether u know or not), in TN, people used to give sathu mavu which contains all grains/cereals like ragi, sago, par boiled rice flour, wheat flour, corn flour etc. with nuts. That is also very good for health. All u have to add 1 or 2 spoon with milk and little sugar. Either u can give as liquid or solid.
Apart from the above, can try with all tiffins. Also, give her a chance to eat by herself. Even if she refuses the food, some kids are interested to eat by themselves, of course, half of the food will go to floor. But, they have a big satisfaction like they achieved something!!
Weekly once, try new foods so that u will come to know what does she likes and whether the food is acceptable to her.

Thank you all for the advice.
I went through the site given by Mini. It found very informative. Need to try whatever you all suggested with my daughter. If you can come up with some more suggestions, you are more than welcome.
Thanks once again

It is almost time you can start give food which is little muchy, because he must be getting his teeth. Along with his morning milk, try a new fruit daily like banana, shredded apple, shredded strawberry, shreded plums etc. Avoid giving added salt and sugar with any food. try giving tomatoes. can give sago milk.
