15 minute chicken biryani
1 lb chicken, cut into small pieces.
1.5 cups basmati rice
1 large onion
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tsp chopped ginger
4 green chilies chopped
2 each of cloves, cardamom, bay leaves
1 tsp jeera
curry leaves
coriander leaves
1 onion (for garnishing)
3 tbsp Priya biriyani masala (can be replaced with any biryani masala)
2.5 cups water
butter/oil
Heat 1 tsp butter, fry cloves, cardomom, bay leaves, jeera. Add rice, fry for a minute and
keep aside.
Heat oil, add ginger, garlic, chilies, onions and fry until onions are brown. Add chicken and
the biryani masala. Cook for about 3 minutes or until chicken turns white. Add curry leaves.
Pressure cook above mixture with rice and water for 5 min.
Meanwhile fry sliced onions until brown. After rice is done, add fried onions and chopped
coriander leaves, mix and serve with raita.
(I usually cut up chicken and freeze them in ziplocs. Helps me get my biryani ready in 15
min)
