Hi,
I live in Los Angeles.
We are going to be traveling for a few days and the food facilities are not very convenient where we are going. What can I prepare & take with me that will last at least a day or two without refrigerator. (no snacks, chivda, etc). Need real food.

I heard things that have a sour element like "tamarind", vinegar, Lime/Lemon, Amchur can stay longer without refrigeration. You may want to think about dishes that have these.

carry a couple of jams and pickles including pickled veggies. bread will be available everywhere in some from u can always make do with quick sandwiches.
U can carry canned stuff which are heat and eat. some trail mixes or dry fruits which make excellent energy sources.
Dry fry all ingredients for rawa upma minus oil.pack in containers. Just add boiling hot water 10 minutes before u want to have the meal and cover tight leave aside for 10 minutes. open to have steaming upma.
Idlies and curd rice will stay for 2 days initially if weather is not too hot.
