Soup for a year old?
What is very weak?
Do you know her weight percentile and height percentile? Is the doctor recommending this extra nutrition or is it relatives?
If the baby is maintaining or moving up her percentile rank you have nothing to worry.
All the koshuk moshuk baby pictures shown in TV should not distort our views. A thinner baby will crawl, stand up and walk before a fatter baby.
If the child is active, and is not in obvious distress, one should not worry.
My mother always said my daughter is too thin, looks too small. My cousin shocked us by "enna idhy amerikkaavil ippadi puLLaya vaLarththirukkE?"
You know what? my daughter was in 90%ile in height and 75%ile in weight! That is compared the AMERICAN babies she was taller than 90% and heavier than 75% of them. Still she looked small and thin and, yes, weak.
As a young mother first thing you need is peace of mind. Worry less and consult the doctor, not the next door maami or periyamma from Chembur, or kOmutti aththai. I am very sure the doctor will reassure you that everything is fine and you can relax.

This is one easy way to make tomato soup(my discovery hehehe:))
Take around 3 ripe tomatoes. Cut them into pieces and beat them in a blender.
Transfer the tomato juice into a microwavable container.
Add require salt, pepper and cook them in the microwave for 4-5 minutes.
When the microwaving is done, add an half teaspoon
of butter(or one) and serve them with croutons.
This is a very tasty soup and easy to cook

Well, here is a method to make soups that I would like to suggest. Basically, soups are to transfer the energy/goodness/calorific value of any food into water so that it can be digested easily. It helps for ppl on diet as well. Many recipe sites say that for making a soup you need vegetable stock/chicken stock/some stock. And making a stock and storing it is a painful process. The easiest way I found to make any soup is:
Cut the veggies &/ lentils &/ rice of which you want to make the soup with. The smaller the size of the veggies the shorter it takes to make the soup. In a sauce pan, add water, turmeric(if you like), salt and then the above. Boil it for five minutes and then let it simmer for as long as you have time(I simmer for usually an hour). If you prefer the soup be thick, at the end of an hour, you can add corn starch solution(corn starch/corn flour mixed with a small quantity of cold water). Let the soup thicken before you take it off the stove. Adding jeera to the soup increases the digestive power of the soup inaddition to adding a very indian taste. You can garnish with cilantro if you please. Curry leaf is also an option. These soups taste good the longer you let them simmer. They are filling too for ppl on diet.
Hope the procedure helps to make your own variety of soups. This method works very well with lentils of all sorts as well. Or you can make a combination of any of the things that you would want to have.

Chicken soup/beef soup
reduced sodium beef/chicken broth(u get them in Walmart and other stores)
cooked chicken/beef pieces
1 tsp dried Italian seasoning(thyme,oregano,rosemary....)
2 stalks of celery,chopped thin
2 carrots,chopped
1 tomato,chopped
1/2 cup mushrooms
1 tsp butter/olive oil
1 small onion
ginger
1 clove garlic
salt
pepper
Heat butter/oil in a pan on medium heat.
add sliced small onion ,ginger and garlic.
when sauted well, add mushrooms and fry for sometime.
add italian seasoning and salt and pepper.
Now add the broth in can.let it boil.
Add tomatoes,rest of vegetables,meat.
Add 1 cup water or more.let it boil.
reduce heat to a minimum, and cover pot and let it heat up slowly, for 1 hour.
stir once or twice.Serve hot.
I learnt this by the trial and error method.I combined the recipes of Italian and American soups. This tastes really good.To make Vegetable soup, just add vegetable broth. You can also experiment with other veggies like corn, beans etc.
One word of caution:the broth u get in supermarkets contain a trivial amount of monosodium glutamate(ajinomoto).
so maybe somebody can suggest how to make the broth at home!

Dear Uma,
Your baby needs nourishing food. If she is not eating, then give her soups of blended,well-washed, easily-digestible vegetables, just heat till boiling, do not cook further.
Chicken soup prepared by simmering the chicken for two hours on low heat with onions and a little garlic, is most nutritious.
Try giving her small 1/3 inch cubes of fruit and vegetables, cooked or raw, let her pick them up with her fingers while you slip one into her mouth.
Do not force a child to eat, offer just once, and then try something else. If not , leave it and try later. Associate mealtimes with fun time.
Do NOT show her television. It is bad for the eyes, and later she will find it hard to concentrate.
