Hello Raji,
It is known as GORAKA .In Hindi, it is known as Vilayati Imsali and Gujaratis know it as KOKKUM.
It is used extensively in Simhala, Gujarati and sometimes Malabar,Goa cooking. Some of the fish recipes have Goraks as preservative. The fish dish prepared with Goraka as preservative can be stored for a week without regrigeration.
Goraka is a natural Cholestrol regulator and very effective obesity reducer.
