Making dishes out of leftovers

I thought it would be nice if we could get recipes of what to do with leftovers, like extra sambar or extra dal etc...
This came to my mind because I made idli dough in which I think ulundhu was too much and did not rise. I was wondering if it is possible to add some other flour and still use it.
Everyone is welcome to add recipes from leftovers here.

You can add more rice flour , maida flour and a little rava . also some seasoning[kadugu, dried red chilli, curry leaves]and fried chopped onions..and make dhosas.a variety would be to add atta mavu and make 'godhumbu dhosa' or ragi flour and make ragi dhosa

Idiappam
You could be right. We used to eat leftovers especially rice and curry, we suffer from bloatedness. Not only that, it seems u can get diabetics too. Nowadays we don't keep leftovers for too long.

Hi Idiappam and Aarthi,
I gave an idea for the left over bread. The bread we buy and it's not eaten fully,by changing its taste and flavour it can be easily utilised. As per Idiappam's statement it is true if one eats the left overs (cooked food),becoz of its high calories one will get pot-bellied.In India the women used to(not now) eat such food.Becoz of their sedentary work and more calorific food they will face lots of problems too.If the idli batter is left means u can use it by adding some seasonings and vegetables to it and make OOthappam. One shud avoid cooked food as left overs for longer period(if it is not refrigirated properly.
Thank u

Hi Arthi,
I have an idea for ur idli batter. (Hope u eat egg!)
Separate the whites of two eggs, add a pinch of salt, turmeric powder, a spoon of milk and whisk it.
Finely chop one onion, 3-4 green chillies and some corriander leaves.
Heat a tbsp of oil, add a tsp of mustard seeds, urad dal and allow them to splutter. Now add the onion, chillies, curry leaves and saute for 2-3 minutes.
Add the onion mixture and egg mixture to the idli batter, mix well. Add some salt accrding to your taste.
If you have a kuzhipaniyara chatti, heat oil in it and fry paniyarams.
Otherwise, heat oil in a frying pan, and pour spoonfuls of this mixture and fry till it becomes light brown. (Similar to making appam, bonda etc.)

Wow Swetha!
Sounds interesting!
I'll try it out next time. Does this work for idli batter that doesnt have probelms too?
Now my batter suddenly has started coming out better.
