Dear Ramya,
I am Usha Sivakumar residing in Ahmedabad. I saw your mail in this and let me give you my preparation of Thiruvadirai Kali - preparation. I am basically from Tirunelveli Dist. Hope you would like this method. Dry Rice - 1 cup, Jaggery 1 1/2 cup (duly made into pieces), Elaichi Powder, Coconut 1 small cup grated. First dry roast the rice in a kadai till golden brown colour as also it smells. Remove from kadai and let it cool. Simultaneously, keep 3 cups of water in a pressure pan. Add the jaggery pieces in the water, once the jaggery dissolves and let it boil. By the time, grind the roasted rice in the mixer to rava consistency. When the jaggery water boils, put the grinded rice into that and stir thoroughly. Place the lid and let it cook until 2 whistle comes. When cool, open the lid and add grated coconut and elaichi powder. Roast cashewnuts in ghee and mix everything thoroughly. Serve hot and enjoy.
