Dear Tanmayi,
I have never seen paneer in American supermarkets though it may be in some I have not visited. Why not just make your own? It is simple and doesn't take very long. I have copied Hemant's paneer recipe from his website below. Give it a try and see what you think. You may never think about trying to buy paneer again.
How to make Paneer
Ingredients: Milk - 1 liter. Citric Acid or Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp. Water - 2 tbsp.
Method: Dissolve the citric acid in water. Bring milk to boil, stirring continuously. Add the acid solution gradually, while stirring. When the milk curdles fully, switch off the gas. Cover for 3-4 minutes. Drain into a muslin cloth. Hold pouch under running water. Press out excess water. Shape and place cloth under heavy weight required (stone slab) for 2-3 hours before using as required.

Dear Tanmayi,
Muslin is simply a finely woven, thin, cotton cloth. It is often sold in the USA as generic, white, sackcloth dishtowel. I use a 24 inch square cloth, filled with the paneer curds then twisted and pressed under a plate with a weight on it. The longer you press, the drier the cheese. Actually, you can use it within 15-30 minutes if you like. If you cannot find the dishtowel material (though I think you will at Wal-mart), you can improvise. A layer or two of thin, clean gauze or cheesecloth will do fine. By the way, I usually make double the amount Hemant gives in one batch. Turns out fine. Good luck.

Dear Piya,
I have heard that paneer is called cottage cheese at times. Perhaps more in India, I am not sure. Tanmayi asked about commercially sold paneer in America. American cottage cheese is different than paneer. While paneer is a solid disc of semi-soft cheese that you can slice and cook (at least it is when I make via Hemant's recipe), American cottage cheese is a rather loose mixture of small cheese curds and cream or thickened milk liquid. When you mix it with, say a spinach puree to make paneer saag, it would become part of the sauce, not separate cubes of cheese. I imagine one could find paneer in the Indian grocers in America. Again, I have never seen it in the regular supermarkets.

Dear Piya,
You are welcome to the little knowledge I have. I have been in America all my life and have come to love Indian cooking over the years. Most of my understanding of cooking such dishes has come from this website. You will learn much from other contributors to the site.
Just a note: be sure when you looks for a muslin or cotton dishtowel to drain paneer that you do not purchase a terrycloth one. Look for a thin, cotton, woven cloth. I am sure you will love your fresh paneer.

If it is a normal bacterial infection, u can flush out them by drinking plenty of water. Have u tried taking cranberry juice which is very good for urinary infection?

Here in uk we can find paneer as paneer, paniyr.similar spelling.
not only indians but also mediteranians like Turkish, Greek, pple from around that area have paneer in same name but different spellings...
maybe paniyr.(something like that)>
But Italians have one similar to paneer, which is called baby mozarella. it is a ball of white cheese, tasteless similar to paneer.
in priya;s comments as far as i know, cottage cheese is not paneer.
anyway u can have a look in some asian shops or persian/mediteranean shops.
all the best!
