It is the much known fact that millions of Dalits are being converted to Buddhism but there are some large scale conversions of them to Jainism also. The first one is the conversion of untouchable Balais in Malwa/Rajasthan who are now known as Dharmpal Jains. About half a million Balais were converted to Jainism by influence of a Jain monk. Another conversion is of Khatiks of the same region who are now known as Veerval Jains. The population of the Veervals is more than one lakh. Both the conversions took place in last 50 years. Both the communities are now ahead of others in various fields, without any reservations to them. They are economically and socially forward now.
