This is an issue, which is not getting its due importance in India. European counties like Sweden, Netherlands, Swiss etc. have succeeded in almost 100% transparency in administration. In India, the Bureaucrats are making every thing under a mask with the help of official secrets act. It is high time that the people of India should force our political parties to make transparency, a main agenda in their manifesto. We should also see that it is getting implemented, in spite of the high resistance from bureaucracy.
Another issue is where we really require the official secrets? May be in Defense sector, Intelligence Agencies etc. All other Govt. administration must be made fully transparent to the public.
The main advantages of the transparency are less corruption and, citizen’s right and effective utilization of Govt. fund, which means progress of nation.
It is good to listen. But is it possible to implement? With the fast development of Information Technology, it is not difficult to implement a fully transparent administration system in which the citizen’s right to know is fully allowed and well protected.
I would like to get the views from our friends regarding what we individuals can do for making a transparent administration in India. I would also like to know whether any of our political parties or other mass organizations has already done some thing on this issue.
